I’ve been using Quest 2 for PCVR since I upgraded from CV1. I’ve recently gotten into Luke Ross mods. Nathie, would you recommend the Pico 4 over the G2 for Luke Ross mods? I’m wondering if the pancake clarity wins out even after taking the compression artifacts into account. The main thing that gives me pause is that I use tethered link because I can’t stand the max bitrate of airlink. Gonna make my decision this week and would love if someone with a G2 and Pico 4 could give their opinion. Controllers don’t matter because I’ll be using the Xbox controller.
I have a Rift S and use lukeross mod for GTA V. I can say to you that the biggest letdown I have with PCVR at the moment is the lack of clarity. However, pancake lenses seem to make that issue much minor. Reverb G2 doesn't have pancake lenses so, the issue of the clarity is still there. So the best option you have is the Pico 4, the overpriced Quest Pro, or waiting for the Quest 3 or a valve headset (which might take a while).
Nice to have competition however I can’t see it being a Quest 2 Killer as most people have already bought loads of games and are in the Quest system. Quest 3 around the corner will have the next gen Qualcomm chip making it twice as powerful as the Pico and more customisable as the head strap can be removed. Unless you don’t own a quest headset or have spare cash floating around I can’t see a reason to buy the Pico 4.

You can increase the resolution of the Quest 2 games with a simple hack and it will look really clear - this shows that the limitation/bottleneck is not really in the screen resolution but the software output. Where did you hear that?!😳
Quest Pro is a bust. For gamers, at least. Still looking forward for Quest 3 though
What was the thing you click-baited us three days ago on Twitter about? I'm left slightly annoyed by it.
it was mainly the strap not fitting me well at all
@@nathie Ok thank you. Hope they release a better face shield. Overall this is an amazing design and engineering.
If I cant link my headset directly to my pc i.e quest 2 style I'm not interested. I don't know how well the virtual desktop will run on Pico 4 with lag ect or how the USB C cable will work on the Pico 4 but for now I think the quest wins with PCVR (unless I'm missing something or have this all wrong?)
yes you will be able to connect with usb c, the software is just broken right now so content creators haven't been able to try it yet
@@James-zs3vm hopefully when the software is released and stable it will deliver a smooth no lag experience straight from the pc. If that's the case the Pico 4 will be the winner.
Just read this online though? "Does Pico 4 support PC VR via cable and wireless streaming? The Pico 4 does not have a display port cable connection for native PCVR streaming. A USB-C cable for a video streaming signal is also not available."
@@gdmunn83 it's true that there is no display port connector, what I think they mean with the last line though is that they're not officially selling a link cable on launch - but you can bet that a third party one that is already out will work just fine- as usb3 is a standard
@@James-zs3vm thanks
How much better it it (quality wise) than a Quest2?
Looks cool, but I still want a Quest 2 for christmas
What game was that video with the dinosaur from
Robinson: The Journey
@@nathie thanks so much much I appreciate the response 🤝
irrelevant but that shirt is so nice dude. chrome hearts? also subbed!
so a quest 2 but with colored passthrough?
honestly, unless Meta lowers Quest 2 price, I don't see any reason to pay more for having less, so I suppose Quest 2 sales are gonna crash down
pico 4 Whats the difference between the 128gb and the 265gb Cheers 👍
more storage
@@nathie Yes but for what ? Do you store the games you buy in the goggles? and if So what happens when you use up the 128gb for instance, or is the storage for something else? such as built in software.
Thanks for the detailed review. That's too bad about the fit, my face shape is narrow like yours. I already pre-ordered, but I can probably mod it like I did the Vive pro (which was wobbly as hell).
Is pavlov available for the pico?
So the passtrough has no depth like the quest one ?
Can you do an apartment tour? Love the setup ❤
You can increase the resolution of the Quest 2 games with a simple hack and it will look really clear - this shows that the limitation/bottleneck is not really in the screen resolution but the software output. By default most Quest 2 games use 1440p, if you increased it to 2048 - it looks like a new gen graphics.
I am curious what resolution Pico 4 uses - I bet it is higher than Quest 2's default, that's why they don't support 120hz.
How do I do that?

Huge amount of informations, Bravo
It looks really good the only thing I really hate is the controls if I play games like VR chat you cannot point in the game it all
sory but, quest 2 killer is...quest 3, with XR2 gen 2 !! Buying an xr2 hardware now is quite late...
Btw.. Wifi op je wasmachine ... Altijd handig! ;-)
pity its got less games on standalone mode :(
