My viewers are very kind and have often suggestions products and plants I might like. The tricolor birch I have on the north side of the house was planted because a viewer told me I really should think about red foliage in that area. Many of you have recommended various products I should try.
But without a doubt the one product that has been suggested to me more than any is the Hoselink retractable hose reel. And now that I have two, I can see why. Thanks for the great suggestions!

I got one 3 years ago & it has changed my life! One tip, keep a microfiber cloth nearby & encircle the hose while retracting to wipe any dirt or water off; it'll keep the interior parts free from debris that can gunk up the gears. Happy watering!❤️🌹🌷🌸
That’s such a great tip 👏🏼👏🏼👏🏼
Great idea!
Ooh thank you! Fabulous tip
@@TheImpatientGardener They also have covers for them. We have one and love ours. We also use an old rag we use when retracting because ours gets dragged through a lot of dirt. We don't put ours away for the winter but in my zone 5, our snow comes on one day and melts a day or two later.
Great idea!! We have 2 and the older one is a bit slow and catches some. Your suggestion should help. Thank you!!
Hi Erin just wanted to tell you I just installed a Hose Link, I was a little Leary at first because of the cost but then I thought “damn I’m 76 years old I do all the gardening damn it I’m getting one”😂😂😂I pull it all the way to my 40x40 raised garden, garden beds and I’m short by about 15feet, I purchased a package of their quick connect and I just hook that up to a hose I have out at the garden and I’m set to go. We’re on a well so I don’t have an extra well out there and this is cheaper then drilling an extra well😂😂😂. I’m from Pinckney Mi zone 6b. Love your channel 👏🏻👏🏻👏🏻👏🏻
We’re over 60 years old and it makes such a difference!!
Looks wonderful. Rolling up hoses is the bane of my life too
I would absolutely love to have one of those!!! I hate coiling the hose and will go to the trouble of using watering cans instead of the hose because of the effort to coil it up lol. Sounds like a good birthday gift to myself! ☺️
My husband had been reluctant to buy one of these because of past experience with other types of self-coiling mechanisms. So…I asked for one this past Christmas. How could he refuse, right? What woman asks for a Hoselink for Christmas? Well, despite his reservations, he delivered and we are now the proud and happy owners of a Hoselink! Game changer!! He’s a believer. ☺️
Hoselink is from Australia originally and a great reputation here, especially for quality and customer service. One of the best companies i have ever seen for attending to their customers' needs.
Thanks for the lovely comment Greg!
You know, Laura from GARDEN ANSWER have these Hoselinks all over her property. I’ve had mine for 2 years now. Love it 🥰
So glad to hear your are loving your retractable reels Krista!
I hurt my shoulder yanking the hose to get a kink out. It was painful. I just got a hoselink. I’m in garden heaven.
I got one 2 years ago. GAME CHANGER! That and my Gorilla Cart are my favorite gardening tools!
OH you are so lucky to get these!! I have wanted to get them forever, Being 75 & hauling hoses is getting harder!! LOL Now to convince my husband to get one!! Enjoy!
Received mine for Mother's Day! I was tired of having to reserve energy to coil the hose! My husband wanted to get me flowers and take me out to dinner. But he understood and loves it as much as I do!
My "'Mr More Patient' & I were laughing because I relate to you so much as I leave hoses out all the time. I was yelling at your last video to, "get a Hoselink!" and magically, here you are with 2 Hoselinks!!
I am deliberately coiling hoses around here to keep everyone safe
I leave hoses out, too, not being lazy, The dog LOVES to play tug of war with it, when I roll it. It's funny but a real pain.
I ordered one of the systems last year, changed my life. This winter I ordered the water wand, so far the best wand ever. Just remember to depressor the water first before removing the quick connect. You will end up with a nice shower.
I saw Laura when she got hers, & hedged with the price, but you may have convinced me!!!!
I HATE water hoses!! I leave them out all the time and my husband comes along behind me putting them away. It’s frustrating for both of us. Then I saw this amazing product and knew I had to have one. So for Mothers Day my husband bought me one. He put it up for me just last night and I LOVE it! So many connectors and so easy to use. Definitely a game changer for me.
FINALLY!! 🎉this is cause for celebration!🎉 u will soon agree…I know it!👏🏻
I have two, and LOVE them! However, old habits die hard. Yes, it's super easy to retract. Yes, I still leave them out sometimes. 🤷🏻♀️
Super yacht?? Fav part of the video was learning this fun fact 😄
In addition to "that's not going anywhere", you must say "that's pretty slick". 😂
I just got one about a month ago. My husband teased me about having every cool gardening tool. Until he used it! Yay hoselink!
Haha! Hope you and your husband get years of good use out of our Retractable Hose Candice!
Took a chance after watching Laura with Garden Answer use them. They are a game changer. Erin you are going to love it! No more dragging a hose around & coiling it up ! Just pull to retract & it’s put away in under 30 seconds. I also purchased the plant surge you recommended & added them on for this season. Hope to have great results!!
A hoselink is the best money I've ever spent! I literally smile every day when I walk that thing back in. I HATE coiling hoses! Enjoy it! Love your channel and love your garden!
I got 2 after seeing Laura (Garden Answer) use them and they were the BEST PURCHASE of my life!!! Like you, I hated coiling hoses but also hated tripping over them. Ours weren't quite as easy to install as the side of our house is stucco so we had to find the stud beneath (which was way harder than it seems it should have been), but once they were installed it's the thing I can't live without in my garden!
Well, Laura has them and now you. Wonder if Jenny is next. I will get two eventually, but we just expanded and screened our deck. They seem awesome.
Ha, I leave the hose out too! I never put it away right. I’ll drag it back up to the house then leave it strung out on the patio. I just recently got the hose link because we needed something mounted high to drag hose through river rocks and over a huge stone patio fire pit area just to get to my raised vegetable beds. I liked how it retracted back until it got stuck and I couldn’t figure out how to unkink it. I’m inpatient so I left it laying in the river rocks lol 😂 it’s a great product just think I need a longer hose so I’m not maxing it out. I can relate doing something repeatedly and resisting doing it. I cleaned houses as a second job for 12 years and I really struggle with cleaning the house anymore. It’s just one of those things.
Love my Hoselink! 82 feet and i can reach everywhere in my vegetable garden. Hope you enjoy yours
Since I tripped over a random left out hose, fell on a big rock and was rewarded with four fractures in my wrist, I will be purchasing one of these!
I'm loving my new Plantsurge magnetic clip for my hose, it is working wonders on our garden and softening our horrible hard water.
Hi Erin, I'm Cindy from Pontiac, MI zone 6a. We purchased a Hoselink last year and we love it! I'm sure you will be happy with yours too. I had the same problem of not putting my hose away. My husband would have to come along behind me and wind it up. I also wanted to let you know that I enjoy your videos! They're so informative and helpful! Thanks for that. I'll be watching. God bless.
Hi from Rochester, MI!
I’ve been wanting one since Laura from Garden Answer has been showing hers. Just haven’t done the plunge yet. Should have as I heard you mention if we haven’t heard from you that you might be in hospital from tripping on your hose. Well silly me two wks ago I tripped on my hose. I’m 70yrs old and thankful nothing broke but very sore knee. Guess I need to bump this up on my list
We added a Hoselink a couple of weeks ago. I love it as much as I love my raised beds for vegetable gardening! It is making my life so much easier!!
So glad to hear that Karen!
I had to laugh because I too leave hoses out everywhere and I have a habit of tripping on everything. Just call me Gracefulina, haha. I'll have to check this out.
We just installed ours too! We sunk a 1” pipe into concrete, instead of the post… it allows it to swivel 360 degrees. Love it!!
I’m already thinking I need another one and it will have to be that kind of installation. How deep did you go with the pipe?
@@TheImpatientGardener We went about 24” deep. Laura has a how-to video too.
@@TheImpatientGardener I put my on a pipe I put 2 ft in cement and 2 ft above. You don't want your hoselink set too low the hose will get caught on every thing low When you pull the hose out. When it higher you don't have that problem.
We put them on pipes also!!
How good, great work Debra!
On. Y second year of boselink!! Love it!! Especially as I am over 60 and it’s a game changer in dealing with hoses.
I have two. They will be the only hose I buy from now on. Like Elizabeth stated, keep it clean.
Those people at Hoselink are brilliant!
I have two. A charcoal and a beige. It is so so so so awesome. I had such a hard time dragging out the hose then coiling it back up. I'm 60 this year and I have decided that this year is dedicated to living easier. I love watching your channel. I grew up in Michigan. My first garden my mom gifted me a corner of the yard. I planted lilac pansy johnny jump up and snap dragon and daisy. I was 10. Love watching you. You are good people
Hi Erin. Hose link would probably be great for me because I hate rolling the dam hose up so that it goes back in the hose "house". One thing I wanted to mention though is that if you have a hose that's dripping on you or leaking, it's probably because the rubber o-ring needs to be replaced. I replace all of mine EVERY spring and have no leaks. I also run a little smudge of vaseline around the male end of the hose which insures that with hard water I'll be able to get the the sprayer off when I put the hose away for the winter. :) My best purchase was an all rubber hose--they are the best!
Do the O ring sizes vary with the hose size, or are they all the same? That's a great idea with the Vaseline and being proactive with replacing the O rings.
I’m sold! Nothing worse than cranking up a hose or dragging it through the plants! Thanks for the video! And thank you Hose Link for helping Erin not break a leg! 😉
I would love a hoselink!
Update: just bought one via your link.
Good Day. I think you will love the hose link as it will be able to keep the hoses from laying all around the gardens therefore you will not be going to the hospital due to tripping on the hose. Love where you have installed them and I feel they will come in handy for you. Thank you for taking all of us along. Have a wonderful day and enjoy.
I have a large garden and have 4. My smaller areas I have steel hoses which are much lighter and easier to coil. Both of these where a game changer for me. I love them both.
...I got Christmas money and saved it to buy one of these this spring (and I did!) It's fabulous! Next on my wishlist is a full power- planter ensemble - drill and all. 🙏🤞👩🌾💚 =^..^=
Thank you for pointing out Teflon tape. I will definitely try that for hose connections.
Lucky you....they generously sent 2...WOW
I love the hose link, I have the same problem with leaving the hose out all the time, until I got the hose link. Now I own two
I now have hose link envy... congrats on getting 2 of them!!!
Hey Erin, hate to say I told you so but……enjoy your hoselink!
Wait, what…???? You worked on a super-yacht?!!! That is soooo cool!!! 😎
I did! For about a year. I got really sick of scrubbing decks and toilets.
@@TheImpatientGardener Oh, well... Not so glamorous as I thought 🙈🤣
I am glad you FINALLY got one.
I have two that my husband just installed. I was so sick of picking up all the hoses before mowing the lawn!!!
We bought one for our mom as an early Christmas present last year. She loves it! It’s attached to the front of the house, but she can drag it through the breezeway into the backyard to clean her birdbath and to water her plants. She had one of those reels that she had to wind up all the time, but she’s 88 years old! My husband and I got two this spring for our house and we just love them.
First year with one. Love it. I still leave it out even tho it's super easy to put away. Only complaint is the nozzle. Busted multiple leaks in 2 weeks, likely due to a late light frost here in zone 5. Love it otherwise.
I’d love to get one of these but unfortunately the company refuses to ship them to Canada. There’s a big market of eager gardeners up here too!
So frustrating. Hubby got me a retractable hose st princess auto though, and I love it.
I’m also in Canada and have a Gardena retractable hose (German) as well as a Hozelock (UK) both purchased at Canadian Tire and Lee Valley respectively. Highly recommend the Gardena!
We got one this spring and at least once a week we say how much we love it!
While I would live a Hoselink, I absolutely cannot afford one. So I'm not going to torture myself by watching this video since I don't see one in my future. Would be a game changer for me since I basically have only one working arm.
Just bought one as our 19 wedding anniversary. Hope we like it too.
After using one last year , I bought 3 more! a second for myself and one for each of my sons! great product !
Thank you very much for actually showing the installation.
I believe I need this in my life. I have yet to find a hose I still like at the end of summer. Thanks as always for being down to earth and making me feel like we all have similar challenges we face!
Ive had mine for a year now and its the best investment Ive ever made. Saves so much hose frustrations. Love my Hoselink.
I own two of them and it is the best purchase I have made to help me
Yes, yes! We have 2!
My older one is a bit slower now but still works well. One suggestion is to try to keep your hose fairly clean when retracting. Muddy hoses can deter the retracting feature. I think you’re gonna love this product. 🌸💖🌺
Hose Link is a game changer in my garden! Only thing I’d change is the length. 100 ft. would be perfect. Thinking of getting another for the back, where I too trip on the hose that I don’t coil!
I agree. I’d take a 100-footer too, especially if there was a way to slightly lighten up the hose without sacrificing water flow or durability. I just want it all I guess.
YAY, you're part of the Hoselink club now! I love love love my Hoselinks!!! When they introduced the charcoal color last summer, I immediately ordered them. And I have a 3rd one to install in another spot, to make my life even easier. We used a 4x4 post cemented in, then used a solid charcoal color stain on it, and put a solar post light cap on top if it.
I was on the fence about ordering this, even after seeing Laura's video. You've confirmed it, so I just ordered one. With your viewers, I thought they just may sell out. Heck, I'm turning 70 this year and I deserve it!!! Thanks for sharing.
I would SO love to have one of those hoselinks! I hope it will be a gardening life changer for you. So nice of them to reach out to you. 💕
It’s about time! How lucky you are to get them for free. I have two and they were worth very penny! I find myself watering more since it’s not a hassle to drag the hose out. I bought my first Hoselink two years ago and it works like the day I took it out of the box. Here’s a tip I have found that it retracts best if the water is turned off and the excess is drained out before attempting to retract the hose.
David Austin Roses has a North facing rose that will grow beautifully on the north side of your house
Both Laura and Russell love their retractable hoses! 💧🚿 🚰 💦 😻
Love, love love the retractable hoses. It makes gardening so much easier for us. I agree with others, keep a cloth or use your gloves to keep the hose cleaner as it is retracted and avoid issues down the road.
I just started using hose link!!!! I was feeling defeated with the darn hoses and my achey back...I was given a cash gift and bought myself a Hoselink! It has changed my garden life so much!!!
I started using my first one at the beginning of the season. Within in a month a got a second for the other side of my yard. I just love them so much! I have a lightweight hose pot with a collapsible hose that I can hook up to my Hoselinks if I need more length (which I do to get to the back of my yard). But they are so fabulous!
Also the hoselink watering wand is just as terrific as the hoselink itself. It’s great!
Ooh good idea on the collapsible hose for more length. I hate collapsible hoses for everyday use but for the rare occasion I need more length that’s a great idea.
Hahahaha...I almost tripped over my hose today...I may have to look into a hose link!!!!
Very satisfying to see you get two HoseLinks installed...I love reading the suggestions from your viewers and they were right about this one!
I've seen Hoselink on Garden Answer, but I so appreciate you taking the time to show the installation. This gave me confidence to seriously decide to just get one myself!
Got one for Mother’s Day and cried. I HATE wresting with the damn hose! Game changer! Thank you @hoselink
I actually bought a Hoselink earlier this year and still need to install it!!! So currently my 100 ft hose is killing the grass because I haven't coiled it up. Oops. Well, you made the install look super simple, so I'd better get to work! 😁
Atleast your hoses are black. Mine are canary yellow and you can spot 'm from the ISS.
My husband got me a retractable hose for mother's Day and it's Amazing! I love it. We put it in the front, and now I want one for the back too hahhhaha
From everything I’ve seen they are the best hoses ever.
Well done! 👍👌🌟🥰
I love love love my hoselink!!! Confident you will too!
That hose link looks great, but I’m space deficient. My new FAVORITE hose is zero-G. It weighs nothing (so sick of dragging my heavy duty hoses all over my yard and beds) and once you drain the water out it is sooooooo easy to coil up. As for durability, I’ve have one 100’ zero hose from a faucet that is connected to my pool filler. It has had constant water pressure for over a year now (we never turn the faucet off) at out home in Florida. We have very hot temps and had a few light freezes this past winter and it’s doing great. Of course I’m sure I’m jinxing it, but will happily replace any time I need too. Have them in Maryland too. Threw away about 150 pounds of my old hoses this spring. Can order on Amazon if hard to find in stores. Sorry for long post. Love your videos!!!
you
This is so timely for me. I got one last week. I have been putting off opening the box and trying to figure out how to install it. Your video solved that problem, so I am going to install it tomorrow. Thanks!
Loved my first 82ft Hoselink last summer so bought a second for the backyard this spring- pricey but Loving them so far- Thinking about a third one for side spigot. Hoping they hold up for many years. Unfortunately my back is still killing be from hauling compost and mulch 🤪
I got one for Mother's Day from my son. I can't wait to use it. I have had hose envy for a year.
What a great Mother's Day gift 😍
Hoses are at the top of the annoyance (to put it kindly) list of my gardening. I've had the flexi/fabric type of hoses the last couple of years and while it is great they are not heavy they don't last long, and can be pricey. I can see a hose link in my future. I see Laura at Garden Answer use them and they really seem to hold up to lots of use.
I bought one after seeing Laura talk about them the last 2 years and I LOVE it!
I just install my on a 1" x 48 " pipe. I love it. A great invention!
I just had two installed and will be using them for the first time tomorrow! I love that I’ll have the whole season to irrigate using my Hoselinks! Now if they could only get their wand back in stock…
I have 2 of the Hose Link and absolutely love them. Saves so much time and effort. Rolling back up a long water hose is a beast.
Love the hoselink. Keeps our gardens so tidy looking.
You have for sure cost me a lot of $$$ this week!!🤣🤣 First sheets and now this!!!
I have wanted to switch to hoselink for a few years now. So tired of wrestling with garden hoses. I currently have 3 hoses ( two 75' and one 50') hooked up to 3 hose bibb/spigots that allow me to reach around my house/property. I always assumed I would have to buy 3 hoselinks, but tonight I realized they sell extra mounting brackets. I could have one hoselink and move it (with quick connects on each spigot) around to each location. The 82' hoselink weighs 30lbs. Not a great idea for everyone, but I handle 35gal buckets of cat litter on a regular basis, so not a big deal for me. I also love that one of my spigots is INSIDE my garage, so for winter storage I could just move it to that location and leave it on the wall. Long post, but just thought I'd share this idea in case others are hesitating because of cost. I'm pretty excited about this!
We got ours last year and it is wonderful. I am 67 years old and all my energy goes to gardening not putting up a hose🙄 now I need one for the front of house👏.
I’m so jelly!!! Thanks for sharing this for now I want to get one…for sure! We are putting in sand pump (thingy) for irrigation and my goal is to add a hose link now, fingers crossed!
Game changer! Love the hoselink! We had one for the last couple of years, just installed a second one today! I am also terrible about putting hoses away, now I don't have to.
Favorite…Hose
Ink by far. I have a storage room full of old hoses, leaky lines and ends and all the things. I learn the hard way, too!
I just purchased my 2nd hoselink…..just love them!! I got the charcoal gray this time but I wish they had a matching cover!!
Just installed our first HoseLink and love it.
