I cried the moment Eomer screamed when he saw his sister seemingly dead. Karl is so talented to bring chills in my heart and spine. So fitting to see him in the house of healing scene looking so scared he would lose Eowyn; in the book, it didn’t happen.
That look of horror, shock and grief is excellently portrayed by urban.. It didn't look like acting, it legitimately looked like someone who saw one of their family die..
In the book, he sees her shortly after the defeat of the Witch-king, and it is he who starts the cry of Death! which is separate from Theoden's speech before the charge. After this, the Rohirrim are even more battle-frenzied and ride the enemy to near the river, where the black ships are landing. Aragorn and Eomer meet again on the battlefield before seeing to the final defense of Minas Tirith. (The army of the dead simply helps them capture the black ships, so Gondor's southern armies can make it to Minas Tirith in time, and are released near Pelargir.)
They all did. When you star in something as monumental and influential as this, you're probably a) set for life financially and b) able to get whatever roles you like. The story doesn't quite ends with the Coronation of Elessar Telcontar and the department from the Grey Havens.
The scene is funny in the book, because he went from Faramir and Eowyn's solemn awakening to Merry waking up and asking when he's going to eat and where's his tobacco.
A part of me wishes they even trimmed the battle sequence to have this scene. Don't get me wrong, I loved it, but I don't think the heavy amount of special effects could replace good old fashioned acting.
Totally agree. They should have cut the scene of Legolas killing the oliphaunt (totally unnecessary - we already know he's a badass) and included this instead.
Eowyn waking up in bed reminds me of when I recovered from covid. When I got well after two long weeks, I awoke in the early morning and felt reborn. I felt more rested than I had in a long time.
She really is, but she decied to follow her heart. After the demise of Sauron, Éowyn and Faramir marry and settle in Ithilien, of which Faramir is made the ruling Prince by Aragorn. Faramir and Éowyn have a son, Elboron.
So considerately caring Argorn for Eomer about, his sister, Eowyn, as for she as well. Nice how he helps heal her. She got wound on her arm from the Witch King breaking her shield with it's mace. Listening Liv Tyler's song makes me imagine myself being in a middle age medical room like there.
Such a sad but beautiful scene, masterfully done by Karl Urban. You felt his fear, his sadness of seeing his sister whom he dearly loves. No other movie will ever touch this trilogy.
She was hoping to die in battle because her broken heart after Aragorn rejected her love and only felt pretty for her but according to the book her heart will heal with Faramir by her side she will fall in love and marry
This actress Miranda Otto is not seen again in mainstream cinema or tv series. Which adds a lot of charm to LOTR trilogy as if some of the people are really those characters and they come alive when we rewatch this series and keep living in the Middle Earth.

This scene needed Ioreth, the nurse from the book version. Jackson bent over backwards to bring more female characters into the plot, and here was one of the strongest and most skilled women in Minas Tirith, left on the cutting room floor. Shame.
Yes the Boromirs brother i forget his name right now they hand love story after healing. Aragorn is master healer and he cured alot of ppl. After fight.
That bit of the narrative lost on the cutting room floor was one of the big holes in the movie. One of the places where Jackson strayed from the text and lost the purpose of the story. It's not defeating evil, it's healing the world.
I get the feeling that Jesus Christ was the inspiration behind the character of Aragorn. I don’t know if J.R.R. Tolkien really intended that, but they both share similar qualities.
Lorenzo Lazzarini Yes it could be one of the contributing inspirations. However, I strongly doubt that it is the sole reason for Aragon’s healing ability. I would argue that the medieval kings allegedly had the power to heal because Jesus himself did and thus it is likely a product of his ministerial legacy. In the narrative of the LOTR, Aragorn appears to represent one of the threefold offices of Jesus Christ in Christian tradition. Aragorn is most likely a representation of Christ the King in Tolkien’s worldview and thus he has the ability to heal.
@@7bayoubengal761 I bet you've heard this before, but Tolkien did not like his characters and stories to be read as allegories, i.e. as symbolic in nature. Clearly the thaumaturgic powers of those kings were associated with previous miracles and thus with Jesus Christ, but to say that he meant Aragorn to represent Jesus Christ is simply a stretch. Aragorn was himself only a lesser and late example of the kings of Numenor, despite being the noblest that there was in Middle earth at the end of the third age (which is analogous to Sauron being only the liutenant of Melkor). All that does not fit very well with the allegory, and in fact Tolkien does not mean it as one. If you are interested in Tolkien's own reflections on his stories, I recommend reading his letters.
