@@misplacedkiwi9498 America. In America if it's a "fruit machine" that would be an apple tree or a grape vine or a machine that made fruit juice. Your fruit machine is our slot machine. But i guess a "slot machine" sounds a little XXX?
In England, they're mostly 'fruit machines' because they tumble and nudge on buttons, but, if they have a handle, they are called 'one-armed bandits' too. We never say 'the slots'. We just call fruit trees 'fruit trees', and a juicing machine is a juicer. We watch television on the telly, and we give our nan a bell on the blower. We dip biscuits in our tea, while you dip biscuits in beef gravy! I can't imagine what a Custard Cream tastes like soaked in Bisto. We eat chips with lashings of vinegar, and plonk them next to a battered fish or sausage, while you call crisps chips! We say, "Tomato," and you say, "Potato."
One of the things in the police’s favour back then was the cars. Cars had distinctive features back then. Like you knew what a Ford Escort looked like. Or a Cortina, Sierra, Vauxhall Cavalier, Astra, VW Golf etc. Now they all look the same. I couldn’t tell the difference between a Ford and a Vauxhall.
These days everyone has a phone with built in camera and recorder, also CCTV. So it is better now, for evidence. They might have got a glimpse of Debbie Linsley's killer if there were cameras then.
I used to be able to name so many cars back then, make, model, year. Mk 1, Mk 2 etc. Now, I doubt I'd be able to guess many at all! Would be handy if on a call to 999, I'd be able to just identify the vehicle in question from just a glimpse of it, as I could back then! Do you remember the ugly Austin Princess & Maestro?? I owned a Montego & everything that could go wrong, went wrong, with that damn thing! 😩😂 My Ford Escort & Ford Cortina were so much more reliable......& Better looking!!! 😎
Sadly, he was later spotted walking up a part by himself, and his body was found in the sea, drowned. The police did not suspect any foul play - sadly seems to have been a case of parents bit paying attention to where their kids were wandering, with tragic results
Very worrying as he could have easily fallen in the water & drowned & public toilets were a hang out for kiddie diddlers back then. One has to wonder exactly where the hell his parents were? Cannot find anything on him on Missing Persons sites-so assume either he turned up safe & well, or his body was found. I suspect there will be an update in an upcoming episode-if he was found alive then probably the next one.
Had a hunt around a Newspaper archive site & sad news I am afraid-the Liverpool Echo reported that his body was found by fishermen five days after he went missing. Cannot link it as you have to pay to access the full story but the preview says this- ... FOUND DEAD THE body of missing six-year -old Jason Clear was found by the crew of a fishing boat today, five days after he wandered off following a family argument. His distraught parents had kept a constant vigil at Itchenor, a tiny yachting village ...
That is so horrible, the womans limbs, my heart breaks for her, i hope the found out who she was and whoever did that to her, i hope they are rotting in hell
I remember the case of the dismembered limbs appearing on Police 5. They showed a sketch of one of the legs for some reason. Be interesting to know if she was ever identified - it very much looks like a domestic so identifying the victim would have pretty swiftly led to the killer.
Does anyone know why Helen phelps left the police? She always seemed nervous on camera I think she would probably made a better police women then a tv personality
It's something I've been wondering too. It is somewhat of a mystery. I've have had a good look online, but can't find any info on her since leaving the force. It would seem that she is a very private person and chooses to keep a low profile.
I am thinking she was likely annoyed at not being promoted-she had joined the police in 1976 & after 12 years was still a WPC which is the lowest rank. While Dave Hatcher who I don't think was that much older than her had already worked his way up to Super & later became a Chief Super. Sadly back then & even today to some extent there is a lot of sexism, classism & racism in the force.

Where are you from? I’ve only ever known them as fruit machines lol! 😂
@@misplacedkiwi9498 America. In America if it's a "fruit machine" that would be an apple tree or a grape vine or a machine that made fruit juice. Your fruit machine is our slot machine. But i guess a "slot machine" sounds a little XXX?
I am from yorkshire in england and i have always called them one armed bandits
Always know them as one armed bandits. Referring to the one pull down handle types
I guess it's less important now - they'll pretty much all be picked up on CCTV
It's called getting old!
Montego Turbo😀👍
It's 2020 and the first time I'm hearing the name, Jason Clear.
Sadly, he was later spotted walking up a part by himself, and his body was found in the sea, drowned. The police did not suspect any foul play - sadly seems to have been a case of parents bit paying attention to where their kids were wandering, with tragic results
that poor little boy jason did they find him :-(
i wonder if anyone has any information please let us know .
hope so to
Very worrying as he could have easily fallen in the water & drowned & public toilets were a hang out for kiddie diddlers back then.
Cannot link it as you have to pay to access the full story but the preview says this-
... FOUND DEAD THE body of missing six-year -old Jason Clear was found by the crew of a fishing boat today, five days after he wandered off following a family argument. His distraught parents had kept a constant vigil at Itchenor, a tiny yachting village ...
Hi Aw that is so sad :(
Was the woman in the plastic bags ever identified ?
I've tried finding out and doesn't appear they ever found out any more information or if they did was not ever released.
@DJSHERBERT1997 thanks for the update
That is so horrible, the womans limbs, my heart breaks for her, i hope the found out who she was and whoever did that to her, i hope they are rotting in hell
Don't make police cars like that anymore. At 6.31.
Those video fits at 35:48 are laughably childish.
Now I would love to know what color "mousey colored" is since mice come in many colors....
It's the color of muddy water. "Mousey brown" is a color reference used in the US.
@@heideggerm2Does that apply to rats’ tails, too?
boo boo lmfao
BlytheWorld1972 you love commenting on these vids dont you hahaha
Shut up you doll faced freak!!!
@@joshuaferguson698up north we call people like that… sad.
I remember the case of the dismembered limbs appearing on Police 5. They showed a sketch of one of the legs for some reason. Be interesting to know if she was ever identified - it very much looks like a domestic so identifying the victim would have pretty swiftly led to the killer.
This is all I can find on it...
www.independent.co.uk/news/uk/binliner-body-man-confesses-1456078.html
How do you know it's still unsolved?
puzzled - why did they do a 'still life' drawing of the limbs when they had got them there to photograph?
@@MsVanorak I’d imagine it was for reasons of taste. Artists impressions were a real go to in the 80s for things like that.
I like to sit in my Montego for hours flashing its lights … just saying.
What are these "Czechs" they speak of...? This seems a bit early for East European villains on our streets...
The Poles have been coming since the late 40's ..........
Helen Phelps it's very beautiful
She most certainly is … and she’s from Kent, just saying.
I was born that month! 😮
And? We're all born in one month or another.
@@th8257How many months have got 28 days?
Lol

Does anyone know why Helen phelps left the police? She always seemed nervous on camera I think she would probably made a better police women then a tv personality
It's something I've been wondering too. It is somewhat of a mystery. I've have had a good look online, but can't find any info on her since leaving the force. It would seem that she is a very private person and chooses to keep a low profile.
Stephen ryder I found a LinkedIn profile for her which shows that she continued a career as a tv researcher after crimewatch.
@@rtd8860 - interesting. Thanks
i think that was just her way i liked her in the program her voice is lovely .
0:55 “sue cook (the presenter)
She said “the programme I was watching was an eventful one, But more about that later.” That is a classic manipulation in the news and high society as a way of basically saying to your brain 🧠 (what u was just watching a moment ago might of been exciting but Enough of that anyway we’ve got somthing serious to say, this basically gets u in the zone and makes u tune in and listen to everything there saying
Get out more. Please.
Could have, not could of
That’s all a bit too Desmond Morris for me.
