2006-7 seemed to be Legos most edgy phase, combine this with what agree is the darkest and best line of Bionicle (2007) and you have some pretty interesting years.
Lets not forget that Indiana Jones immediately followed it, which has some of the most war vehicles of any theme including some vehicles such as the T-55 based Jungle Cutter, bombers, machine guns, amphibious cars, everything. Agents was pretty violent to by Lego standards. Really was a particularly violent period of themes in the mid 2000s, which I kinda miss.
The scale of the vehicles is crazy... they're pretty actually real life size which is really odd for LEGO that tends to shrink things down... definitely 2nd best Dino theme.
It depends on how you look at it. Minifigures are pretty stout so even though they're sized adequately to fit them horizontally, vehicles proportioned for width end up being super tall
That helicopter is clearly based on the real life Soviet/Russian Mi-24 Hind attack/troop transport helicopter. Interestingly enough, the Hind was also one of the main inspirations for the design of the Republic LAAT Gunship from the Star Wars Prequel Trilogy/Star Wars The Clone Wars TV show. Sadly, given LEGO’s stance of military vehicles, we probably won’t get another helicopter set like that again anytime soon.

Glad you've hung on to it! Both helicopters are absolutely fantastic models. I honestly had no idea about the trike until you mentioned it - that's a really cool addition!
That giant cage (big enough to hold the T-rex!) also results in about 100 more pieces than the US version. Funny enough the stickers are the same, so the heli is also calles "7477" on it's side.
Just rediscovered my old Dino Attack sets I got when I was 5, going thru my old giant lego collection. Dinos still intact. Such a big nostalgia flashback, this was by far one of the best original themes lego came out with. Gonna put the raptor on my desk now.

I'm glad someone else shares my love for this theme, I recently completed my collection of them. 7477 is probably my favorite set of all time, what an amazing experiment this theme was.
A fellow appreciator of Dino Attack. I always wanted the tank and the helicopter as a kid - was such a cool vehicle to me. And the dinos all looked so menacing, especially compared to the older Dinosaurs sets I used to own as a kid.
Recently I had the opportunity to purchase a sealed copy of the T1 - Typhoon at a reasonable price. Despite still being in the box the set still feels impressive as the box IS massive, especially with the front flap open where it reveals more info and images on the set. Though I don't plan on opening the set for a multiple reasons, it does feel great finally having this set, as I had none of them when I was younger, since I found out about this theme when I watched UA-cam videos about Dino Attack and was enamored by the dinosaurs of this theme (This was around 7 years after Dino Attacks original release, so the sets were long gone from store shelves). I also have some of the dinosaurs from the line, and the T - Rex dwarfs practically any other Lego animal and fantasy creature lego has made. The raptor was always my favorite though, mainly due to the fact it looked like my favorite dinosaur at the time ceratosaurus. Also a fun fact about the pteranodon and the raptor, they share the same bodies, so if you switched the heads of the 2 somehow (It seems doable), you could get a green raptor and a yellow pteranodon.
That's so epic. I didn't even realize it had the flap on the box - it's been way too long since I first had that set, ha. I'd hang on to that for as long as you can - I can't imagine there's a lot of sealed copies left!
As a young kid, I decided to "send the raptor into the sun" one day and put it up on top of the lamp in my room. Several minutes later, I smelled something burning and looked up to see smoke coming from the lamp. My poor raptor now has a permanently melted face that prevents his jaw from closing.
First, really like the 'cheesey' background music that you use. Second, those are some awesome Dino sets. Did you ever buy the T-rex Rampage set? Interesting that the first set (7473) had a 'Blue' even before Jurassic World had one.
Would have loved to have gotten my hands on T-Rex Rampage but it's a little out of my price range, haha. That there is certainly the best dinosaur ever included in a kit!
I really enjoy these videos looking back at old themes! Fun fact: the Shadow minifig is meant to pay homage to Arnold Schwarzenegger’s character from the movie Commando, while Digger is meant to pay homage to Sylvester Stallone’s character from Rambo. (One could even make the stretch that Viper’s aviators are a reference to Tom Cruise from Top Gun)
I had all the sets when I was a kid, this theme, Space Police and Lego Agents were probably my favorites growing up. The concept for this theme is definitely on the bizarre side: mutated dinosaurs with laser eyes, a really gritty aesthetic... but these were all so cool to me as a kid. The dinosaurs were so unique and surprisingly large and I loved the vehicles, especially the helicopter.
It really is a unique look for LEGO. It's a pity they won't try something like this again, but I'm glad we got this theme. It certainly has a special place in my heart too, with lots of good memories!

You may have had the Dino 2010 version (let me know if this feels more familiar) - they're virtually identical, but in this version the guns were swamped for cages.
Ought to look into the alternate builds for this theme, I believe there was a half-track combiner between the hummer and tank but a good 3 or 4 had builds on the backs of the boxes as well No idea if the latter had any online instructions though..
would have been neat to see the dino attack dinos compared to their modern counterparts the mutant lizards don't really have a modern variant, but I guess we have the atrociraptor or the coelophysis
Did anyone here ever figure out what the bar under the tail was for? It just connected to a while piece with an axle hole and kinda just hung there. Maybe it was a holdover from the European design?
While building it, my understanding of it was that it just a spacer to prevent the tail from being bent awkwardly due to the hinges. I double checked the Dino 2010 equivalent set's instructions, but nothing seems to attach there either. I definitely agree that it doesn't seem entirely necessary!
@@CheeseyStudios that could be it! It's interesting how the part isn't being held in place by a pin to prevent it from moving further up. 2005 buildomg codes were wild!
@@cirnospaghet So true 😂 It's crazy how flimsy these older sets could be. The standards are much higher today, but I'll always respect how far they pushed a small part count to make a massive set in the early 2000s!
@@CheeseyStudios oh for sure! They definitely were highly creative with the pieces that they had to work with. The landing gear is probably one of the best designed I've seen even by today's standards. And it's also sturdy enough so that you can comfortably swoosh it around!
It was such a great year! I love the HP Goblet of Fire sets, the second wave of Knights Kingdom, and heck, even some of my most memorable City sets were from that year.
I remember getting the Iron Predator set from my parents, when I was a kid and I went a year without having to get any holes in my teeth fixed by the dentist. I loved that set and Specs still is one of my favourite Mini figures. (I got the European version without the huge gun tho).
I had every single one of these sets except for the helicopter. The truck was the first Lego set I ever got that was actually missing pieces, but I didn’t care because I had a bunch of dinosaurs!
The first Lego action theme I grew up with! Only got the Urban Avenger back then but now have all except the Iron Predator. Would be cool to see the theme get some love in the Moc making community like Power Miners and Mars Mission receive.
"This is Digger. Digger likes guns, apparently." If I was facing down a mutated carnivorous lizard the rough size of a Smart Car, I'd want the biggest damn gun I could find too.
This was one of my favorite themes as a kid. It’s funny just how dark and edgy it was. What’s even funnier is that Europe got what was essentially the baby version. These sets were super cool. It’s sad that Lego doesn’t really make stuff like this anymore.
When I found out this theme in the US was vastly different from what I had as a kid in Germany, it blew my mind. The sets are basically the same, but in the US everything had big guns. In Europe it was called Dino 2010 and everything was about CATCHING the Dinos, hardly any guns at all. Instead the builds came with similar cage and net contraptions as we saw in Adventurers Dino Island.
Man I remembered always wanting the helicopter and tank as a kid. I had the first 3 and still have some of the truck built although I added stuff to it when I was a kid, but the helicopter still looks amazing today. Wish I could find one on ebay thats in good condition and not $100s
It's pretty rare now unfortunately. I'm not sure if buying the parts separately might be cheaper? Could be worth looking into. That's how I get a lot of stuff for these videos
11:45 Sadly it's no longer worth a hundred dollars. I've seen some sets on Amazon and the helicopter is being sold for five hundred dollars! Awesome set but sadly too expensive for most people.
There are very few, but looks like you can still get a used one in the US for $110! www.bricklink.com/v2/catalog/catalogitem.page?S=7477-1&name=T-1%20Typhoon%20vs.%20T-Rex&category=%5BDino%20Attack%5D#T=S&O={%22iconly%22:0}
@@556deltawolf I am so disappointed lego is too soft to make vehicles with guns, like apache-like helicopter like the theme had back that. We just don't get good tank vehicles. Hope lego makes a new battle theme.
I do miss a lot of the 2000's and even early 2010's stuff. Current Lego playsets seem okay, but generally lack luster to what they used to be. Sure, nostalgia will always be a factor, and I heard something about Lego nearly going under around 2016(?), but it seems like a lot more care and creativity went into it earlier. The new collector's stuff still holds up and in many ways exceeds the old stuff, but for the kid whose parents aren't going to shell out for Lego Ideas level sets, it just gives the impression of a notable downgrade in quality.
I miss LEGO's originality in their in-house themes. Really the last one left is Ninjago, and there's a reason it's so popular. There's a lot of heart behind that theme, and no licensing restrictions. I do hope we'll see more unlicensed themes in the future. I do believe there's a market for them
I have Steel Sprinter but I don’t remember the mutant lizard and Urban Avenger vs Raptor. When my family moved they fell apart. But The dinosaur is still together.
The beauty of LEGO is that you can always put it back together! I had to rebuild mine too for this video. They probably hadn't been put together since 2008 or so
These are amazing value. I have the Humvee (dino attack version) and I got it second hand last year for 60 NZD, or about 35 USD, including shipping. It’s big, it looks great, it has that awesome cannon thingy, and 3 dinosaurs. 3! If I see the other sets for sale I’ll definitely get them, I love the design of this theme and the military elements of it.
Dino Attack vs Dino 2010 confused the hell out of me back when I was browsing a building instructions database. "Wait, aren´t those the same sets, just with guns?" Only set I ever had was 7473, the Dino 2010 version.
There was official combined 6th model called High Voltage Half-Track. But it appeared only in special edition magazine, so not many people know about it.
@@CheeseyStudios and just right now I learned there was secret alternative models, that was shown on boxes only in earliest produced sets. If you redo this video, can you show them too?

@@CheeseyStudios welp the internet exists and im 20 so i font see whats stopping me now besides them going for like 80 bucks
I had that helicopter back then, still have the parts. But I don't remember it having so many weapons on it.
You may have had the Dino 2010 version (let me know if this feels more familiar) - they're virtually identical, but in this version the guns were swamped for cages.
That helicopter is so fairly priced, even adjusted for inflation.
Right? All the pieces were used to such great effects honestly. It's an efficient and well-crafted build
this is one of my favorite, possibly my most favorite, themes that lego has ever produced. im still so sad i never had that helicopter!!!!
Aw! I do hope you can find it one day for a decent price. It's so incredible. But yeah, loved this theme so much. It's truly unique in the LEGO lineup
I only have one of these sets, but I think they are fantastic! Great video!
god I loved this theme, I had the helicopter as a kid, what an absolute masterpiece of a set
Such a beauty. I don't think we'll ever get anything like that again
my first lego set ever was the steel sprinter. I still remember building it.
That's awesome! Certainly one of my earliest too. Great set!
We had Dino Attack in Australia, I had all those sets except for the jeep.
A very impressive collection!
@@CheeseyStudios Cheers mate. Thanks for bringing back fond memories!
I had the dune buggy, it was my first lego set 😁
That's awesome! One of my earliest too. Played with that thing for hours at a time xD
Ought to look into the alternate builds for this theme, I believe there was a half-track combiner between the hummer and tank but a good 3 or 4 had builds on the backs of the boxes as well
No idea if the latter had any online instructions though..
Oh nice! I'll have to see what I can find
That helicopter was my pride and joy, wish I never took it apart 😢
Never too late to put it back together :)
I wish lego still made stuff like this
I know right :c
would have been neat to see the dino attack dinos compared to their modern counterparts
the mutant lizards don't really have a modern variant, but I guess we have the atrociraptor or the coelophysis
Hopefully one day I'll get a chance to remaster this video!
this set is so nostalgic. That game online was super fun too!
There were so many great LEGO Flash games back in the day! Ah, their website was so much fun...
I doubt it still exists... :( would bring back memories@@CheeseyStudios
The Dino attack t rex head would be perfect for a ceratosaurus
Definitely!
These dinosaurs were my childhood
Same here - this was certainly one of my earliest LEGO themes. So much fun
You should make a video on galaxy squad I love that theme
To be totally honest, I'm not even sure I have any! If I stumble across any I'll have to try and pick some up
Rip lego space
I am in awe that the theme made it to europe at all. Even as toned down as it was
2005 was a great year. We got revenge of the sith sets, the best bionicle titans at the time, and edgy mutant dinosaurs.
My brother and I both got the helicopter set for Christmas one year. It was awesome.
Such a good one! What a great Christmas
I had every single one of these sets except for the helicopter. The truck was the first Lego set I ever got that was actually missing pieces, but I didn’t care because I had a bunch of dinosaurs!
Mutant lizards are the besssttttt
@@CheeseyStudios they really are!
The first Lego action theme I grew up with! Only got the Urban Avenger back then but now have all except the Iron Predator. Would be cool to see the theme get some love in the Moc making community like Power Miners and Mars Mission receive.
This would be a fun theme to do a MOC for. It would be cool to do some of the apocalyptic landscape that we never got in the sets
"This is Digger. Digger likes guns, apparently."
If I was facing down a mutated carnivorous lizard the rough size of a Smart Car, I'd want the biggest damn gun I could find too.
You know, when you put it like that, it all makes a lot more sense 🤣
This was one of my favorite themes as a kid. It’s funny just how dark and edgy it was. What’s even funnier is that Europe got what was essentially the baby version. These sets were super cool. It’s sad that Lego doesn’t really make stuff like this anymore.
Edgy is a good word for it 😂 It certainly is an outlier in LEGO's portfolio, but I sure do love it too!
@@CheeseyStudios Kinda reminds me of 2006 Bionicle lol.
I have got some LEGO Jurassic World Hybrid Dinosaurs such as Indominus Rex(2015),Indoraptor(2018) and Indominus Rex(2020)
The dinosaurs they make today are so incredible. I do love the detailing on the Jurassic World ones!
9:05 I could imagine that if the head was removable, there would be a higher demand to build MoCs of Ridley from Metroid
I totally forgot about Dino Attack! This was one of my favorite lego lines since they had tactical minifigures and vehicles
It's got such a distinct style compared to other LEGO dino themes!
Wish I didn’t miss out on this line.
It's really too bad it was so short lived
When I found out this theme in the US was vastly different from what I had as a kid in Germany, it blew my mind. The sets are basically the same, but in the US everything had big guns. In Europe it was called Dino 2010 and everything was about CATCHING the Dinos, hardly any guns at all. Instead the builds came with similar cage and net contraptions as we saw in Adventurers Dino Island.
I'd love to get my hands on a Dino 2010 set at some point and do a proper comparison
@@CheeseyStudios maybe turn it into a video about regional differences in general. There's gotta be more than this one theme, right?
the paleo nerds are going nuts over the horns on the T-Rex and the bat wings on the pterodactyl
iT’s iNaCcurAte!!1!1!!1!
Lego should put more into their modern dinosaurs. I really like the size and posable nature of these dinosaurs. (Except the mutant lizards)
Even if the lizards suck for posability, I sure love their design xD
There are very few, but looks like you can still get a used one in the US for $110! www.bricklink.com/v2/catalog/catalogitem.page?S=7477-1&name=T-1%20Typhoon%20vs.%20T-Rex&category=%5BDino%20Attack%5D#T=S&O={%22iconly%22:0}
I do believe there's a market for them
I doubt that lego would ever reboot this line.
Reasons:
1. Lego don't do military vehicles
2. Jurassic world
I actually had all the dino attack sets when I was younger wish I could get my hands on some now
They're so rare these days. I never see them 😭
I have Steel Sprinter but I don’t remember the mutant lizard and Urban Avenger vs Raptor. When my family moved they fell apart. But The dinosaur is still together.
The beauty of LEGO is that you can always put it back together! I had to rebuild mine too for this video. They probably hadn't been put together since 2008 or so
the weaponry on the helicopter is insane! wow
2000s-era LEGO was crazy 🤣 I love it
These are amazing value.
That's actually a really nice deal! This theme was so cool. Probably will never see anything quite like it again.
@@CheeseyStudios oh by the way Dino Attack wasn’t only in America, I’m from New Zealand and this is the version we have.
Dino Attack vs Dino 2010 confused the hell out of me back when I was browsing a building instructions database. "Wait, aren´t those the same sets, just with guns?"
Only set I ever had was 7473, the Dino 2010 version.
I hope I can get some of the Dino 2010 sets eventually. I'd love to do a side-by-side comparison
one of my favorite themes as a kid, I'll never forget it. Just gotta get the typhoon helecopter and the green rex and i'll have every set lol
I do hope you can pick up the T-1 Typhoon - it's amazing!
My friend Jake had the helicoptor growing up, and I was so jealous as a kid 😂
It's such a beauty. I probably made the neighbor kids jealous too 😭
@@CheeseyStudios You know, come to think of it I believed I had the tank somehow. Idk I was 6ish so maybe it was a Christmas gift or something.
There was official combined 6th model called High Voltage Half-Track. But it appeared only in special edition magazine, so not many people know about it.
Just looked it up - that's super cool! Thanks for sharing. If I ever redo this video, I'll have to include that in it.
@@CheeseyStudios and just right now I learned there was secret alternative models, that was shown on boxes only in earliest produced sets. If you redo this video, can you show them too?
Weird looking theme, I've never heard of it! Those dinosaurs don't even look like Lego!
But I guess the classic dragons from the 90s that I grew up with looked a bit strange too in retrospect.
These certainly were stylized to quite a degree. The gradients feel especially unusually, and there's very little LEGO system compatibility!
