Well as usual with the speakers that Yusef promotes, this guy just spouts rubbish. Africa is a Continent, with many countries and thousands of tribes. And its the tribal culture that makes Africa so special. Most African-Americans (and I really hate that term because really what they are is Americans, end of) have no idea of which part of Africa their ancestors came from. At least English-Americans, Italian-Americans, Irish-Americans... have some idea where their ancestors came from.
No, Christ, the Romans, Greeks and Persians did not go to study in Timbuktu. Timbuktu was a place of Islamic learning in the 12th through to the 14th centuries. In 1593, most of the university faculty was executed or exiled for disloyalty to the new rulers and this, along with a decline in trade as a result of increased competition from newly available trans-Atlantic sailing routes, caused the city to lose its relevance.
So once again, someone spouting rubbish because he thinks he knows something and some people will fall for his nonsense. Want to know something, get out there and study some real history.
