Claria, I know what you mean. I have a bunch of stories, but the one I was most insulted by was when I was 12 and I was in an overnight stay for my YMCA program. The guy working the desk/acting as security when my mom comes to pick me up the next day asks if my mom was my sister, not terrible but then she laughs says 'no, I'm her mom,' and he DOUBLED DOWN and said he couldn't believe it as she looked like my YOUNGER sister... like 😾

Im a filipina and my mom will be turning 50 this year, she still looks like 25-30 years-old. I guess filipinas are blessed with this beauty just like the saying, "Just like fine wine, they age gracefully" and also the ghost stories that we tell to others are sometimes the experiences of ourselves or from previous generations of our families or a friend too.

I'm so happy to see pierogi and gołąbki.. my grandmother use to make both of those growing up and I regret never learning how to make them myself.
It’s not so hard to make, just Google pierogi/gołąbki przepis and the use Google translate to translate recipes(if you have the same language barrier as me)😊 I make a lot of pierogi with fruitfillings like strawberries and blueberries when they’re in season, it’s pretty easy but a lot of work. And I make the sauce by mixing yoghurt naturell or sour creme with sugar to the right taste. Tastes just the same as my babcias. It’s possible to get real fermented sauercrauts in some stores in my country, so it’s possible to make with savory fillings as well without much of the prework like fermenting your own sauercraut etc., but my favorite has always been strawberryfilled pierogi so I always go for that😅 Next on my list is making Gołąbki, I don’t have any polish family recipes at all, so I spend a lot of time translating recipes before deciding on one to try and it has worked well for me up to now😊 The only thing stopping you from making this is yourself, and the worst thing that’s going to happen is that you make something that still tastes good even to it’s not an exact match the first try😊
