SI MANGIA is very generic. If you say "ognuno mangia il suo cibo" you are more specific because you are technically referring to each single person (each one is eating their own food). Tutti mangiano means "everybody eats" so you would need to contextualize it. Si mangia truly doesn't refer to a specific subject so I would say that is above all the other ones in terms of "generic speech".

I suggest that you start learning these pronouns first and work your way up to the SI IMPERSONALE. When I read the pronoun "Si" before a verb I have to try and guess what it could mean within the sentence. I cannot work it out or translate it or interpret it using my intuition and become stuck for words. Antonio Futura Tiani3574.
