"New" - he is from the 70's, but he was huge back then.. :D
It is strange that you never knew of Dave Allen. I hope you know who Benny Hill is.
Hey Da Real Adogg im from the U.K. and we grew up on Dave Allen on TV in the 70’s and 80’s. I’m
Glad you find him funny, a really lovely human being as well. He’s sadly missed.
Dave's great. Check out his jokes about santa
He was the highlight of the week back then! He drank Irish whiskey, by the way. 🥃
I am 60 years old and I remember watching him when I was a little boy. Still as funny now as he was then. Thank you for bringing back a happy memory😊
Same here
Loved the way he closed his show as well
Yeah me too, haven't hear that name in awhile.
Me too, but I had to hide behind the couch, my father wouldnt let me watch him
Me too. My Dad never missed an episode. He was brilliant. And always ended by saying. "May your God go with you".
@@audreymcgready4329 yeah was gonna say same :)
This irishman was on my TV every week when I was a child. My whole family would sit down to watch his show. He always sat down to tell his jokes. His skits were so funny too.
Yes Saturday evenings around the TV great memories 😄
Mine too
Hello from England. So glad you liked Dave Allen! My Dad was Irish, and he loved Daves' comedy...we all did, never missed a show on telly. You got the humour! Most Americans don't! Watch more, and enjoy the laughs he gave us. He is greatly missed and not forgotten.
☘️💚
@@finolaomurchu8217 🌹♥️
My family is not Irish
@@cedricliggins7528 So are millions of other families! Well spotted.🤪
I loved this this morning, what a great laugh. My husband and I were always mentioning Dave Allen to our daughter. I just sent her this. The good old days where no one was offended 🤣🤣🤣🤣
BRILLIANT
I remember Dave Allen on tv when I was a kid. Had me in hysterics then....nothing has changed. He was such a gift😍🎁
The late Dave Allen drank Whiskey while he was sitting down doing his set. He is sorely missed.
I'm old enough to remember seeing Dave Allen on TV first time round. A great comedian, he left us far too soon.
I have been watching Dave Allen for decades. I finally had enough and found a way to get his ENTIRE collection on DVDs. Believe me, it is worth it. Enjoyable, hilarious, and never ever enough. ❤❤❤
So happy you found Dave Allen, it’s nice to see the younger generation enjoying his brilliant performances.
He is hilarious!! Loved listening to him. Such a loss to entertainment. RIP. 🙏🙏🙏
So enjoyed hearing Dave after all these years. He was so good.
His learning to tell the time story is amazing.
Watched Dave Allen At Large on Tv as a kid/teen. One of the funniest comedians of the 70s/80s 😂
Ended every show with and May your God Go with You.
Back in the 1970's I used to love watching Dave Allen at Large on WTTW in Chicago.
MR ALLEN IS A LEGEND IN IRELAND AND THE UK 👍👍👍👍👍👍
So glad you've found Dave Allen, surely the greatest 'stand-up' ever. OK, so he was always perched on a bar stool, with a glass of whiskey to hand, but the concept is stand-up and he was the master, hardly a comedian who can hold a candle to him decades on.
Dave Allen. Was lucky enough to see him live in Australia many years ago. Adored him and his brilliant mind. 🥰👍🏻👏🏻
I used to watch Dave Allen on tv in the 70’s. He was a great Irishman.
Great reaction to a fantastic comedian who we watched every week back in the seventies.
His twists of logic were pure genius.
Funny what you remember. Haven't seen him for more than 40 years, and I remembered he is missing half a finger. Remembered as soon as he was fiddling with his hands. Loved his jokes as a kid and remembered that.
An interesting fact about Dave - most of the jokes he made about priests and nuns were sent to him by priests and nuns.
I remember watching all the Dave Allen shows on TV with my parents back in the 70’s
He was so funny you laughed so much you had belly ache
I’m so glad I lived through this time sadly now the likes of Dave Allen would be cancelled
🤩🤩🤩👍 👍 ❤️❤️🇬🇧🇬🇧🏴🏴
Cancelling isn't real. It's a boogeyman, like woke and alphabet people
A friend of mine used to deliver scripts to Dave Allen for the BBC. He was always made a cup of tea and chatted with this great man .
I'm 60 and remember watching him back in the early 70's and he's has funny
As a child we watched Dave regularly. Brilliant and I was fascinated by his wee finger
Brilliant comedian 🍀
Dave Allen. Absolute legend.
One of my favourite comedian of all time
He was one the brightest comedians that ever lived. Sorely missed. I wish I could see the sketches that he would make now. It wouldn't be on the BBC of course! We would have a Master to explain wokedom and victimhood to us. May you rest in peace David and may your God be with you 🙏🙏🙏
Remember Dave Allen fondly, his story about a father teaching his child how to tell the time is hilarious
Dave Allen was famous before you were born. Fantastic comedian without ant swearing.
We haven't had an Italian Pope since the 1970s, so this must be old. Thank you and thumbs up.
John, Was as well he didn't do an English Pope then. The last one was around the twelve hundreds.
I'm enjoying you enjoying Dave Allen.... he's a classic, timeless, quality comedian. Please watch more ....
I use to watch Dave Allen decades ago, he is/was a GREAT comedian who made fun of ALL and no one got insulted !!!!! As a Christian I was never offended, they are JOKES.
my mother left Ireland and went to Australia in the late 60
Love Dave, I grew up listening to him. My mum was Irish and my dad was Welsh, he was their favourite!
All those cuts were from his weekly TV show.
As a Jesuit educated Irish Catholic .Here in Ireland in the 1970's and 1980's everything was a sin ..they used to smuggle condoms into Ireland .. inside packets of heroin ...Dave had brilliant wit. Even our local Catholic priest was a fan too ..
Dave Allen was my favourite comedian growing up, he always cracked the whole family up. One of the greats
British comedy rocks
He was Irish. Not British.
Watched him when I was young. Loved him. I was disappointed when I saw his stage show because every second word was "F". I think it was because he never swore on T.V.
I had the same experience, not at all funny live, brilliant on TV.
His brother Johnny was a Butlins Redcoat and equally as funny.
I am english 60, he was on every Saturday night, very funny.
Dave Allen is a legend.
I grew up watching Dave Allen, the Two Ronnies, Billy Connally and others. Finding them here on UA-cam in my dotage is a real joy. Incidentally the car in the funeral sketch is a Citroen 2CV, also known as The Tin Snail.
He drank Irish Whiskey. Love Dave Allen
😅my childhood memories right there. Sat with my big brothers pissing ourselves laughing on a Sunday night , as we got it being in catholic school. Feckin legend 😂
Dave Allen is way BEFORE your time. Very well known in the UK
Dave Allen - Teaching your kid time. Quality comedy without bad words!
I'm another one that grew up with this naughty boy. Thx for the memories dude
Dave Allen the hippest coolest comedian ever. Dave Allen walk down music and walk off is sublime, and his line, 'Good night ,and may your God go with you'😎
“In the name of the father, the son & in the hole he goes”. 😂😂😂
The Dave Allen show was on TV in the mid to late 70's in the UK. Comedy and sketch show. He would sit there and drink a glass of Whiskey.
My father’s favourite comedian
Oldies but goodies !!!
Welcome to British comedy at it's finest.
Grew up watching Dave Allen. Remember believing his story about how he lost the tip of his finger for years. A truly funny man.
I was brought up on Dave Allen. He is hilarious without being smutty or swearing a lot. By far my most favourite comedian of all time.
Dave Allen is brilliant, one of the best comedians of all time
Unlike today's comedians (EG Dave Chapppel) there are no racist jokes about white people, Trans people were ridiculed, religion was lampooned and politicians of all colours were fair game. The advent of political correctness has killed comedy.
Fantastic to see you enjoying this genius at work. I grew up watching him - it seems even funnier now because today this sort of humor is almost not allowed.
I can't believe I've never heard of this man. Thank you for introducing me.
…and until his later material, he conducted his shows without profanity (probably due to broadcasting rules)….Proving that dropping F Bombs does not make jokes funnier. Dave Allen was part of our required evening viewing back in the day. A master of timing and delivery.
You have to hear dave Allen..telling ghost stories...
There's a guy called Jasper Carrott from the UK around about the same time as Dave Allen you might want to check him out as well.
You MUST do Mr. Bean!! Dave Allen is funny as Hades, but BEAN will make you wet your shorts!!
SOOOOO many great comedy's from the "other side of the pond"...
Are You Being Served
As Time Goes By (awesome romantic comedy)
Keeping Up Appearances
Mrs. Browns Boys (another favorite)
Waiting For God
The Vicar of Dibley.
If you like to laugh, EVERY ONE will get you where you want to go!!
THE NEXT one you need to do is "Mrs. Brown's Boys - Mammy's Merchandise"...
Check out some Bennie Hill. He was hilarious 😂
Dave Allen was one of the best comedians of all time.
I just loved your facial expressions, I was laughing at you laughing at him, but laughing at him also, thanks very much for brightening my day.
DAVE sitting on his stool with his drink was the best thing to watch in the 70s and 80s he beat them all for funny
His shows are well known.
Well liked by millions...
ace guy glad you found dave allen
That coffin case scene is right out of the keystone cops
I'm from.scotland I use to watch Dave when I was a kid a total genius😂
Dave Allen, one of the funniest Irishman ever 🇮🇪
Hilarious 👏🏻😂🤣😂🤣😂🤣😂🤣😂🤣🥰‼️
One of those wonderful non "politically correct" Voke humorists from my boyhood days 60's 70's. Notice his middle finger it is etched away by his whiskey. God bless him. If you want I can give you a few other names?
My whole family watched Dave , it was a must watch TV show 🙂
He was a treasure!!!!
I grew up watching Dave Allen. Lovely to watch it through new eyes. Enjoyed your reactions as much as remembering these skits.
Another comedian of the same ere was Dick Emery. Would love to see your reactions to him. 😅
You got my thumbs up!
Dave Allen is a legend. He was a whiskey and cigarettes man lol
That were the good days of comedy!
I met him when I was a kid, lovely fella
The graveyard joke is his most brilliant one.
Watch him talking about telling time and flying also some of his sketches
He was a one off & he always made you laugh ..
One of Irelands finest comedians and a gentleman .
Dave allen is the best story teller he is a legend
Dave Allen was absolutely brilliant. The whole thing of sitting in his chair, smoking and drinking, while telling stories, was very much 'his' thing. More Dave Allen, always welcome.
Always ended with, "And may your god go with you".
Kind of like Ronnie Corbett.
@@henrytheturnip And goodnight from him.
Dave Allen was raised as a catholic until old enough to make up his own mind. He died in 2005 and left our planet a poorer place. May all of the gods bless his soul.
I am from belgium and i saw him the first time in the 1970's. Have been a fan ever since
i´m from Denmark I grew up on Dave and Monty Python. I absolutely laughed my ass off
I'm from America and saw him probably in the 1980s. Hilarious old-fashioned story-telling humor. Great stuff.
@@peterc8204 Well, years later but I still recall him!
he was excommuncated from his church, so i don't think there's much chance of that hahahaha, but he was definitely one of a kind
This is what we grew up watching in 70s UK. This is why we have such a dark sense of humour and why we don't take life or ourselves too seriously.Dave was a staple of school childrens weekend viewing 📺
He loved Australia and Australia loved him back. He was a true trailblazer in the best meaning of the word.
I'm an Aussie and every week we would watch Dave Allen ...my Dad would laugh his butt off ...Mum tried NOT to cause she was Catholic 😂😂 and us kids luved it !! Fun family times !!! 👍👏😁❤️🇦🇺
Yes! Truer Words! The Comedians!! Allen, Goodwin (we're having a good time aren't we..aaaahh!), Manning, Davidson, Reid (turn it in), Carson (it's the way I tell'em), J.Jones, Chubby ("Good evening! My wife's got two cunts and I'm one of them."), Boardman (Fokker joke), all contributed to the wicked, twisted sense of humour I've got now!!
Tommy Cooper dying on stage and everyone laughing thinking it was a joke; what a way to go!!¬ :D
I used to work as a funeral directors assistant, where we would wash, dress and prepare our clients for their big day. Quick sidenote - everyone's always buried in their sunday finest, so the Zombie apocalypse will be a formal event. Anyway we'd started work on a new client, a woman in her 30's, when Doc (what I called the funeral director as he reminded me of a Uni professor I had) had to step out to make a phone call; he left me to carry on. 10 minutes later he comes back, says 'how you getting on Ewan?' 'Fine, no worries, but I have got a question about her.' I said 'why has got a prawn between her legs'. He said 'What?' Why has she got a prawn between her legs? He had a look and said 'Ewan, that's not a prawn!' I said'
'Are you sure? It tastes like one!'
A guy goes in to a Chinese restaurant, orders a bowl of noodles, eats half and skips out on the bill. The manager's like Bastard he no pay for noodle, picks up a cleaver and goes after the guy. He follows him down the road and in to a brothel and eventually finds the guy, who's now performing oral sex on a prostitute. Manager says 'Oi bastard, you order noodles, why you no pay for noodle?' The guy turns to him, wipes his face and says 'I didn't pay for the noodles, because I found a hair in them'. The manager's like 'What, you no pay for noodle cause you found hair in them and now you're eating hairy, fuckin' pussy!?!?'
and the guy replies 'yeah, and if I find a noodle in there, she's not getting paid either!?!
What's the difference between hookers and onions?'
I don't cry when I cut up[ hookers!!
Such a different world. In those days in the Southern US, my grandfathers would have shot their TV sets if they'd seen someone saying things like this on TV. 😂
@@juliecook6057yep know that one, it's Fekin' funny, but I shouldn't laugh, sniggers behind hand, the old man creasing up, us kids laying in front of the coal fire.
Dave Allen was one of my favourite comedians. A great story teller and his visual humour was brilliant! He was an incredibly intelligent man, much missed.
Please do his "Airplane" sketch, and the one about teaching your child the time. Both absolutely hilarious.
The teaching time sketch is hilarious!
I played the one about telling the time to my daughter and she thought it hilarious. ua-cam.com/video/0QVPUIRGth/v-deo.html
Dave was one of the best comedians and story teller ever to have entertained us all .we still miss him .
Agree 💯
Check out a skit called ''Religion'' about his first day at Catholic school at 4 years old, arguably one of the funniest ones yet!!
"...You're bloody right I'll be a good little boy!" ;D
Its tragically funny
Dave Allen was the greatest Irish comedian who ever lived :)
I would say the greatest comedian for ever. You couldnt show these in UK any more.
@@loopywren I agree 👍
You can't go wrong with some Dave Allen he was one of our best Irish comedians, sadly no longer with us, like many Irish people great at telling a story, many of which come from his own life and background
Dave was a World class comedian and a genuine philosopher.
Diolch Iwerddon. 🏴
😉
Loved Dave Allen when I was growing up. You can't tell from this clip, but he had the tip of an index finger missing and instead of explaining how he really lost it he told an endless series of funny stories about it instead (a favourite one being that it dissolved in his drink during a performance).
Haha, I'd forgotten about that. Funniest bloke.
My brother met him in London once, early early 70s, and he said he had gotten a new part in a film with a character with a digit missing. Always the erudite well spoken clown.
I think you'll find Dave as an Irishman would drink Irish whiskey.
I grew up watching him and believed that for years. 😊
