The Zaporizhia Cossacks became famous for their relentless campaigns, demonstrating a high level of military strategy and great personal skill in battle. Before entering the battlefield, a Zaporizhia man always prepared carefully, relying first of all on his ability to skillfully wield a weapon.
It never happened that the Zaporizhzhya army threw away their swords, sabers or spears to fight without using them. This approach of the predecessors was preserved in the descendants of the Zaporozhians, including the Kuban Cossacks, who reproduced, developed and applied the martial art until World War II.
At the same time, as a result of technological progress, the main element of the specific military skill of the Cossacks became the possession of cold weapons, such as saber-checkers and pike-bayonet. A similar development was observed in Europe (for example, fencing with rapiers, sabers, etc.) and Asia (for example, the Japanese art of fighting with swords "Kendo").

My one greatest regret about my one visit to Ukraine is that I didn't know about the zaporozhian sietch museum and didn't go see it.
Excellent video and superb demonstrations as always...but what more I would like to see is these warriors dueling with each other while wearing GoPro cameras!
...That or some other kind of filming technology that would give channel viewers the POV of the warriors as they fight each other!
I have not found saber fencing in the Toronto area that comes anywhere close to the skill, speed and relentless passion of these cossack warriors!
That's why I wish to see the "point of view" of the best of the best... the cossacks already seen in this video!
