Day 2: Fifth Depot Lake to Hastings, Ontario, Canada
Shakedown ride for the Lands End to John O'Groats tour.
126km
10°C
Hung around the campsite a little longer than I had planned, as the scenery was so nice and I needed a second cup of coffee...so I didn't get away until around 9:30ish...
The 20km ride to Tamworth was the most remote ride on this trip, and it was lovely!
Had a second breakfast at the aptly-named "Corner Restaurant" in Tamworth...and it was worth the stop.
The afternoon ride to Campbleford was uneventful and somewhat bland, but the tailwind I had the day before was still there for me.
As the day continued, I was working on a few options for where I would end up for the night...and one of them, a request for a stay at a Warmshowers host in Hastings worked out, and as such, I was hosted by Daniel and his lovely wife. The original plan was to camp at Daniel's place, which was literally right on the TransCanada Trail...however when I got there, we found that the lawn around their home was quite wet, so they made room for me to sleep in their sunroom...for which I was very thankful!.
The little clip on your brake lever strap. It is called a "Cord lock".
Never thought of that name, but makes sense to me…thanks!!
