    Thanks mate, that was useful. Changed my seal today and it seems to be working fine now.

      Hey Craig, No worries. That impeller was really tight but we got there in the end. The pump has recently died completely due to the pump body wearing out and leaking water all over the pool shed floor. Thanks for checking out the channel.💯👌

    bewdy thanks mate did this a while back and couldnt recall. i only used universal bearings cost $7 and got local mechanic to pull them off.I bet the genuine onga kit set you back $60?

    Have looked at a few handyman repair vids. and found yours spot on, especially the diagnosis.
    Mine, a LTP750 is more or less the same setup and even though still pumping Ok makes the same
    noise as yours did.
    To get to the internal bearing how do you get inside. That bearing whatever at the front, did you have to
    force off. Once off does the front seal plate come off and is that shaft part included in the kit

    Hmm, I've got a baby LPT400 pump for the solar pool heater. Only 3 years old, and now squealing at startup, so bit frustrating as the "cheap" Chinese pump previously lasted 7 years. I have the same rusting at the bottom of the steel housing, so I expect it needs the seal and bearings. I might see if my local guy can do the rebuild, as I don't have a press. New pump only $265, so I don't know if paying someone to rebuild will work out.

      Thanks for checking out the channel. If you going to pay someone to rebuild your unit it I think it would be wise to get a quote and then reassess. With a new pump you will probably get a longer warranty period for peace of mind. 👌

    Thanks for sharing your video. I was in the process of repurposing an old Onga 421 pump and couldn't figure out how to get the impeller off. I didn't realise it just unscrews but with a left-hand thread. What a load of trouble to get that sucker off! I never realised there is so much bashing of the parts involved...lol I too may have to remove the whole armature. How did you do that? It's not clear from the video. The rear of my armature is very rusted, has a large slot in it, and a plastic fan that appears to be snap fastened via the slot, but I'm hesitant in applying too much pressure to get it off in case I break it. Did you have a fan also and how did you get it off?

    • @basketcasebuilds5712
      @basketcasebuilds5712  3 роки тому +2

      Hey Thanks for checking out the channel. For the fan mine was just a slide on fit. Once that was off I unbolted the front carrier plate that has the front bearing in it and slid out the armature forward. Mine is a brushless motor so I didn't have to worry about fighting brushes while removing or installing the armature. Sadly the pump actually died again the other day. This time it sprung a leak in the main housing so it got parked up. It lasted nearly 10 years with 2 rebuilds.

      How did you get the fan off??

    • @whkiess
      @whkiess Рік тому +1

      @@damienburnham2434 That was 2 years ago...lol...How time flies. I can't recall exactly how I did it, suffice it to say that it wasn't easy. Most likely I would have used lots of WD40 to soak the join and continued attempts applying pressure to pull off the fan. My motor also died a year later and I ended up ditching it.

    Hi there, thanks for the vid! The motor hasn't gone yet but I need to spin the fan before the pump will start, and the fan is stiff, not moving freely. So I thought I'd take the cover off the fan and have a look. At 5.05 you are able to remove the fan cover with a couple of taps of the hammer. My cover spins when rotated but I'm unable to tap it off. Not having done anything like this before, and a bit hesitant to apply to much force in case I break it, do you have any tips that might help me get this cover off.

      Murray Gardner hey thanks for checking out the channel. If your pump is the Onga LTP 1100 then the fan cover should just tap off. If you have a salt pool it might be built up with corrosion on the aluminium housing under the plastic cover making it tight. Good luck 👌

      @@basketcasebuilds5712 Thanks for the reply. I have the LPT 750, so it might fit differently to the lpt 1000. I guess it's time to ring around the pool stores. If I manage to get ti off I'll reply here, in case it comes in handy for someone else. Cheers.

      @@TheMuzwan also if your pump won't start by itself it could be a worn-out capacitor. They burn out and the motor won't self start when excited by mains power. the capacitor stores a shot of electricity and is the electrical kick start to start your motor turning as mains power is switched on.

    not wanting to have to pay an arm and a leg for bearings from a pool shop...i notice there are several type of 6202 bearings in the skf catalogue...how do i know which to get? eg. with suffixes like 6202-2RZ, or 2RSH or or 2RSL..... i am guessing 2RSH as that has double contact seals maybe?

    • @basketcasebuilds5712
      @basketcasebuilds5712  4 роки тому +1

      abelroshni I just went to my local bearing supplier “CBC Bearings” and took the old ones as examples and explained what they were out of. This is the second rebuild of this pump. The first one lasted around 5 years and both times the seal was the issue that leaked not the bearings. Just base line bearings will be fine. No need to get high speed bearings or special seal types. Thanks again for taking the time to check out the video. 👍

    Well you finally got job done but it still looked like a pig's Pen, a 10 minute tidy up and a quick coat of paint would have made the job look so much more professional & presentable and the owner would would feel a lot more secure with your job. It would have made it look like a Great Job instead of an ordinary job, a little bit of lipstick & rouge makes the job look good for you as well, it would have been a professional's job well done.

      Indeed I could have made everything look aesthetically pleasing but it got the job done as you say. With me being the owner of the pump I felt secure with my my job. Thanks for watching 👍

    geez your place/workshop is a mess... be better man, clean up your shit lol... personally the condition of that pump IMO is not worth fixing considering time and costs to fix it, unless you think your time is worth nothing... these pumps are cheap, they are the lower end of the pump world... just buy a new pump and be done with it..

      Indeed it is a mess. My family and house Reno’s come first. As for the pump it did another 2 seasons until the housing got to thin and sprung a leak,now running a Davey pump. Thanks for watching.
