  • Mapungubwe National Park is located at the far northern border of South Africa, at the meeting place of 3 countries: South Africa, Zimbabwe and Botswana. The terrain is a combination of open savannah with some spectacular rock formations, especially around the confluence of the Limpopo and Shashe rivers.
Mapungubwe is a World Heritage Site and while the wildlife and birdlife is abundant, it's also perfect for those in search of serenity, identity and history.
Mapungubwe was established between 1200 and 1290 AD and was home to a powerful Kingdom that flourished on trading with Eastern cultures such as China and India. It's the place where archaeologists excavated the famous golden rhino and other evidence of a wealthy African kingdom (Wikipedia).

I’m Chris Corbet; video creator, photographer and fan of road trips, outdoor adventures, nature and remote places. I hope my videos might help those who want to experience gravel travel & off road adventures, and who don’t care as much about the vehicle that gets them there, as they do about the journey itself and the destination. I try to provide useful tips and background information about the unusual places that we visit, as well as endeavouring to draw attention to conservation, my intention is always to inform, educate and entertain.
    Remember:
There will never be a second chance to make a great first impression!
