  • It’s Syrup Day! It’s actually GRAPE-O-LICIOUS day! I get a lot of requests here on Bar Talk & Cocktails to make a certain Cocktail or to craft a certain type of Syrup. Unfortunately for me there’s sometimes not enough hours in the day. A Grape Syrup for cocktails has been requested multiple times over the years by multiple viewers. So today I’m finally getting to make some! I love getting requests so keep them coming. Just know that I’m not ignoring them. It just takes me some time to work my way through them all. I hope you enjoy this Grape Syrup. Like most syrups I make, this one doesn’t always have to be used as a cocktail ingredient. It’s a fantastic dessert syrup. Especially over Ice Cream. Add some Brandy to fortify it and this syrup will take your next ice-cream dessert to the extreme!
    Be sure to follow along because next week I’m going to be making an original cocktail using this stuff…once I figure out what that cocktail is!
    Cheers!

    Would the chocolate mint express itself more if you bruised or muddled it when you added it to the grape syrup?

      The residual heat achieves a similar thing

    • @BarTalkCocktails
      @BarTalkCocktails  3 роки тому +2

      Exactly what Stephane said. The heat will release and extract all the aromatic oils and flavours from the mint. No bruising or muddling is necessary. Cheers!

    grape syrup.....or wine.....as we call it in Greece for the last 2,500 year... .... My grandmother would collect the pulp of the grapes (after were used for wine) and make a thick custard with flour, almonds, nuts, sesame seed and the zest of lemon and orange (moustalevria in Greek)... that process with the mill reminded me of her... Nice video

      Most of my syrups work really well over ice cream. My crew loves the Triple Berry syrup. Pretty sure they make it only to use over ice cream.

    Brandy is a good choice! As well as rum(fruit), gin(plants, since added mints) or vodka(straight forward).

    Just so you know, if you did not make look so inviting, I would not have a collection of syrups. I think, grape syrup, spiced rum and seltzer sounds good right about now. Looking forward to what you will be making with this syrup.

      Try subbing out the whisk(e)y for gin. It's marvelous. Maybe make a grapey rum sour with rum, grape syrup, fresh lemon juice, simple syrup, and an egg white. You can't go wrong using brandy as a base. Many possibilities are worth experimenting with. Cheers!

      I'll bet a dollar to a dime that this tastes 10k times better...

    • @BarTalkCocktails
      @BarTalkCocktails  3 роки тому +2

      You could use Welches grape juice, however, your syrup won't taste quite as bright compared to using fresh grapes. Fresh is always best. That said, there would be some advantages to using a grape concentrate. It's less expensive than using fresh grapes, easier to make the syrup, and you'll be able to make a much larger batch. Happy experimenting. Cheers!
