This is fantastic I have the other Roses and Lily’s deck but I was disappointed that is was so muddy. This in my opinion is perfect and looks like it matches my blushing fool deck really well.
The Eco-herbage deck looks great! And the cards even sound good. I prefer thinner cards. Shuffling thicker cards can be like shuffling toast for me, running the risk of turning a reading into a game of "78 card pick up" 😲😭
Conrad is truly an amazing artist and just an all out friendly guy with a lot of passion for tarot and the tarot community. Ive been messaging him back and forth with an idea i had a while back. I wanted to see a green roses and lilies 1909 because i read somewhere that pixies favorite color was green. So i sent conrad a message and explained id love to see this deck come to life, on linen finish and he did it within 2 weeks time up on his shop! So if anyone is interested in that id say check ot out!! But ANY of conrads decks are worth having because they are all beautiful!
I just got the package from MPC yesterday which included the deck you requested with the linen finish and green backs, as well as the Roses and Lilies Bright. They are absolutely magnificent! I'm so glad you requested that deck! It is absolutely stunning. It's just perfect. The Roses and Lilies bright is just brilliant as well. I tried to upgrade the cardstock to linen finish but MPC wouldn't let me upgrade this time. But the standard stock seems to actually have improved from last year so that is good news.
I was also expecting your design to be the Pam A version because that's what it says on the item description but it's not, it's the original Roses and Lilies which is my favorite version so that was a VERY pleasant surprise to see!
The E27 looks like it has a nice soft texture. Doesn't appear to have any coating, which makes me wonder if friction due to use over time will have the inks rubbing off. Does it have a similar feel to the blushing fool? I'd also be curious to see a shot of the 'bright' next to a card from the contemporary yellow box version available everywhere.
This is what I've been waiting for! A brightened version of the 1909 Roses & Lilies. I've got Conrad's version and the Art Restoration deck from DriveThruCards. I actually put in a special order at MPC and got the R&L in the Superior Smooth card stock (which is delicious) instead of the Standard Smooth it comes in. I prefer the look of the Art Restoration because the creator of that deck went thru and cleaned it up so you can see the images better. Whenever I look at the R&L from MPC they seem a little hazy in comparison as if I've got something in my eyes. But the Art Restoration version goes a little overboard on the yellows on some of the cards. Like the 10 of Pentacles (which I was really glad you showed as you were going thru the minors!) the yellows are just too much. It looks like the printer got stuck on yellow and deposited too much pigment on the card as it was printing. And the card stock on the Art Restoration deck is starting to show its weaknesses as the top layer of the cards is chipping off at the corners. I still love the deck but the quality of MPC's card stock is undeniable. Now I've noticed that Conrad put up a version of Pam A in linen card stock with a green roses and lilies back so of course I need to get that as well. What is the difference in the feel of the thick card stock and the standard card stock? Is it same just thicker? For instance the difference between the Standard and Superior smooth is immediately noticeable. The superior slides more readily and is actually a bit thinner than standard. Thanks for the videos, Simon! They are so helpful and I enjoy hearing your perspective very much!
Hi Jamie, I have the green roses and lilies that Conrad graciously created at my request. It's an exact copy of the 1909 only with green backs. The linen finish on that deck is very nice. At first I told Conrad that I wanted that deck to be exclusive just for myself. But I'm glad he kept it up on his shop so others who might be interested can enjoy it too. I hope you love it as much as I have!
I have received my Light Rose and Lily yesterday. What can I say - this is now my favorite version of the RWS. The colors are just amazing. And of course this sense of historical authenticity. I have many versions of RWS, but I'm thinking about a backup copy of this version already now 😅. Thanks Conrad!❤🙏🏼
Deck question- I’ve been looking & looking for a certain tarot deck. I’ve only see 3 cards from it posted on a flat lay. Best way to describe them are it looks like Polaroid (but not the True North deck) and below the Polaroid is RWS card imagery small and in the center. Lol please tell me you know what I’m talking about? 😆
Oh, I love this video!!! When I saw Conrad did the Roses and Lilies, I messaged him asking to make it available for me... wait...shocker here, Simon...I asked him to make it available for moi in plastic cardstock! LOL! Conrad is such a nice kind and considerate person! Now having seen them side by side, I think I like them both equally, Simon - what do you think?/which do YOU prefer? YES! Aesthetics are very important when it comes to our favourite tarot decks, I agree! xx P.S. I loved the background music you chose for this video.
Thanks lovely. I think I would always go for the original, but I really like the idea of having lots of different versions of the RWS deck. I’m obsessed with that deck as you know, so they can never be too many versions of it in my opinion. Thanks for watching lovely, and yes, I was totally shocked that you wanted it in plastic! 😝
@@the_hermits_cave yes, absolutely! There can never be too many versions of our favourite classic tarots😉! I do now have top 2 RWS though 🥰 - The Blushing Fool (of course!) and the plastic 1909 Roses & Lilies from Conrad! ♥♥
Simon, I keep repeating myself, but your videos are just so good. Apart from being informative, they are really calming since you have such a calming presence. Thank you! Now, I am enamored with Conrad Steyn's Decks on MPC. I love RWS Tarot Decks and since you have so much experience with the plethora of RWS decks out there, I'd love to ask you for your input on my RWS quest. I am looking for an RWS deck that truly grabs me, that is still available currently. There are many decks I love, such as The Albano Waite, the Tairiku Shobo and Golden Rider, but these are very hard to get by. I am enamored with the CS Tarot so I will probably get that one, but I am also on the lookout for an actual 'original' or very close to the original RWS deck. Out of the currently available RWS decks, which one would you recommend? The Roses & Lilies by Conrad Steyn, Pam A by Conrad Steyn, or a different one entirely? I'd love to know and would really appreciate your input. Much love to you Simon!
Hello lovely! If you want a deck that is very close to the very first RWS, then that would be the 1909 deck which is the roses and lilies on MPC by conrad steyn. The Pam A came out six months after in 1910. Both are wonderful and you wouldn’t go wrong with either. If you wait a few more days all of conrad‘s decks are going to be reduced to cost price for the full month of September. I will be doing a video about this tomorrow. 🙏🏼
Roses and lilies, oh my! Gotta love these Pixies 😀 But so many choices... i go on MPC and don't know what to buy. What is your #1 choice out of all the Pams 🤔?
Yes, colors and the touch of the cards themselves is important. For example, I love my "Cats rule the Earth"-Tarot, but the cardstock just feels.. weird. And they don't mix well. So I never use it. Just as reference and to enjoy the illustrations. But I can't "work" with them. Same goes for my Albano-Waite RWS. THOSE COLORS 😵💫I once did a side-by-side with the Albano-Waite RWS and my 1909 Art Restoration RWS - oh, boy. OH BOY 😆
OMG! Now I am terribly undecided between the standard and the bright version... Help! Does the higher contrast/saturation work well or does it create artefacts? (Which do you prefer?)
I really do like the brighter version of the Roses & Lilies and I also love the Vintagey Pam A. I was wanting to get a Pam A anyway and this vintage version looks great, maybe cool on the thicker card stock to give that more authentic feel? 😍❤️
@@the_hermits_cave I don’t want to bother him with asking for even more options lol. It would be cool though to have a Vintagey Pam A on thicker card stock - almost like the real thing 😁❤️
Thank you! Yes, wonderful of Conrad to make so many decks, but I've been confused by all the titles on MPC. This was VERY helpful to see exactly what the differences are! Hard to choose. ALL the decks, right?
I got the 1909 & A decks and think they're great but... the cards slide all over the place due the modern stock that seems to be used everywhere now so am def interested in this eco stock. Is it anything like the card used in days of yore?
Hi Simon, I need to downsize my Tarot & Oracle collection, what site do you and others use to do this please? I don't want to use non Tarot sites. Thank you for any and all help you can give me.
