@@Brandtoon7 Good tip...especially since the search is like to bring up these kids playing at ages 9 to 14. Until I saw this song performed, I never saw anyone use a tuner while playing like this!
Met Uncle Josh after a Earl Scruggs Revue show at the old Southeast Music Hall. We were waiting for a ride outside, and he was out there smoking. We talked for a good 20 minutes. Told us the story of how he bought his two dobroes back in the 40s, one of which some old woman found in her attic, and he bought it for something like $13. Really nice man, terrific dobro player.
Not saying he's better in the subjective sense but Noam Pikelny is quite possibly the most technically skilled banjo player to ever play one. He does things with a 5 string I've never seen anyone else even approach.
Pensaram que não, mas tem brasileiro aqui hahah, quando descobri o Earl Scruggs e Lester Flatt junto ao Flint Hill Special, criei uma admiração pelo banjo! Que raridade!

Just look at Earl's right hand. It's like the Rock of Gibraltar up there. So solid.
I'm lucky if I can keep my pinky down, and he looks like his fingers are super-glued to the head.
Simply awesome. I can't imagine it being done better than Earl does it here. Perfection!

I was going to say something about Earl's right hand, but I see that I did it three years ago!
Detuning and retuning as a riff. Fucking insane
Idk if he's using them here but he ended up inventing/using a locking tuner system that let him switch tunings on the fly.
@@TheLifeOfTexan looks like he is using the tuners here.
@@TheLifeOfTexan similar system to a D-bender or G-bender guitar mechanism

You mean B Bender instead of D. Also for those people ⬆️ you
he is using the Scruggs drop tuners.
If anyone ever played better than Earl I haven't heard him yet.
