I’m from Puno in Peru and we already have the whole Bible in Aymara…. What’s happening?
That my friend is a great question1 The cost of this trip could have printed 10s of thousands of complete Bibles in Aymara! It is called show to get money!

While the Central Aymara do have a Bible translation, it's dialect is so different from Southern Aymara that it is considered to be an entirely different language. This video is about providing Scripture translation for the Southern Aymara people!
Reading the books of the New Testament, we probably asked ourselves more than once: *"Why 2000 years we do not see those miracles that accompanied the Сhurch of Christ in the I century, as described in the New Testament?"* Why do the so-called preachers of Christ have to prove that Jesus really existed and atheists boldly deny the historicity or divine origin of Christ? Maybe because the Сhurch of Christ has not existed for 2000 years?
The Сhurch does not exist in the form in which it is presented in the books of the New Testament, but there are Catholic, Orthodox, Protestant and other christian sects claiming to be the place of the Church, but they not have the only thing that distinguishes the divine from the human and is characteristic of just the Сhurch of Christ -the reinforcement of the word with signs, that is, miracles (Mark 16:15-20). Therefore, some researchers doubt the historicity of Christ, and some of them are not opposed to declaring him a an ordinary philosopher, teacher. But even if Jesus were an ordinary philosopher, his disciples would be ordinary followers of Jesus. And they would not dare to write about the miracles that not only Jesus, but also his disciples, could perform. In this world, the great fertility of atheism can be explained by the fact that there is no main opponent of critics of the Bible - the Church. If there were the Church in our time as described by the authors of the New Testament books, where miracles are performed, the sick are healed, where prophesied, and the dead are raised, no one would doubt the historicity of Christ. Then there would be the same controversy throughout the world as in the first century - Jesus the Son of God or the false prophet who seduces the world by miracles. As a result, we can say that the emergence and development of christian sects and atheism was the result of the fact that over the 2000 years the Сhurch of Christ did not exist.

Hi Passion, thank you for your response! However I have close Aymara friends in Pomata and other nearby towns who confirmed the other day that the Aymara Bibles they own are in their own dialect. They said it's perfectly understandable and they don't expect to need a new translation. I've personally seen these Bibles (like I said, I lived in Puno from 2019-2023 and my team is still there) and know that the churches there are able to use their Aymara Bibles just fine. I'm curious why 12 Verse Challenge thinks this is not the case and is raising so much money for this endeavor when a Bible is already regularly used in this town.
Not only that but the Aymara people are generally concentrated in the same area spanning Southern Bolivia and Peru across the altiplano of the Andes. I've personally learned some basic Aymara and have spoken it with close friends. They say that though there are slight variations in tone, style and vocabulary the Aymara spoken near Puno and around Bolivia is basically the same. One friend of mine pastored a church in Bolivia even though he's from Puno. Passion, I urge you to do some more thorough research. I really seems to me that $1M was raised for a project that will not benefit anyone in a significant way. Or at least be honest about what the project is: a re-translation.
Another point to consider is that the Aymara language is starting to die out. Those who only read and understand this language are elderly and already own Aymara Bibles. The youth are able to read and understand Spanish very well. This seems an odd place to focus on Bible translation when there are so many projects under way in places where people truly do not have access to Scripture in their own language.
