When I wanted to sell my alto, my husband kept it on my behalf, urging me to return. Then, the UA-cam algorithm gods spake, and your vid came up. Time to dust it off and start again! Thanks for your comment. I was using a hard rubber Otto Link no 8 I think, and am now using the metal equivalent no 7. On alto I use a Jody Jazz, which gives a brighter and louder sound. For reeds, I am currently using Legere American Cut synthetic reeds, strength 2.25. But to be honest, what I use is not necessarily what you should go by fur yourself. If you can, spend a nice rainy afternoon in a music store that sells mouthpieces and try out a bunch of different ones 😊! All the best 👍🏾

DICK DICK thanks! I was trying to do a slightly different style to everyone else. Most versions are on alto sax so mine’s on tenor. Also, most versions stick to the tune whereas I improvise on the tune a lot more and I play slightly behind the beat.

@@amathesaxylady There are times when I want to stop existing and just embrace the void. But music isbthat ONE thing that makes life worth it. Hearing you play, but more importanlty, seeing the emotional range one feels when playing is a joy that few things can bring. Its a gift musicians give to people-that for a moment they can live through the music.
I too have been to that place where sometimes I feel that I don’t want to come back from. And like you, it’s music that keeps me going. If there is a song that you would like me to play, especially a reggae song, let me know and I will record it for you. And if it makes you feel better, then I will have done something right that day. 👍🏾.
Hi there! Yes I do, although I prefer to teach beginners in person and not over Zoom/Skype. To learn properly from scratch it’s best to have a tutor with you to make sure that you do not fall into bad habits. So it would depend on what level you are. If you already play, I have been working on instructional videos on how to play reggae songs and how to play with a laid back feel, so please subscribe so you can get notified. @@teflondon7002 thanks for your comments. I get a bit fruitier towards the latter end of the song but tbh I was trying to keep it easy and was playing slightly behind the beat the whole way through. I’ve seen and heard a few versions of this sing and the feel was more upbeat and bright but I wanted the melancholy feel to come out a little bit in my version, if that makes sense!
