This is my grandparents house! It has truly been overwhelming to see how much everyone has appreciated it. My grandparents have lived there for the past 30 years, but all the steps finally became too much. My grandma has loved this house with her whole heart, and I hope whoever ends up with it will too
Thank you for sharing your amazing connection to this charming work of architecture! We thoroughly enjoyed seeing it in person and hope that whoever buys the house will cherish it! Hopefully this video will bring you memories in future years.

what an adorable and cozy house! The man that had built this put so much love and care into it, breaks my heart to know he never could enjoy living there. I have to give kudos to the narrator. He did a great job in showing the house with the descriptions and having our eye line go into the right direction rather than just walk over.
Wow, this house has so much CHARM. You can tell the architect poured his soul into it, it's so sad that he never got to enjoy it. He would've lived such a magical life. Thank you so much for sharing it with us!
Modern architects strive very hard to be unique. But it seems to me they overlook that one way to stand out is to be personal. That's what this house has. All the little quirks and touches exudes personality, warmth, and character. There is no other home like this.
They just don't build houses with character like this anymore and haven't for close to a hundred years. Storybook style is my absolute favorite. If I could build a house from scratch, this is close to what I'd be aiming for. These homes have a personality all of their own and I hope the future owners appreciate it and don't change anything.
LL Character or quality. I'm in a new construction home with a builder L. I can hear the neighbors working inside their house the walls have zero sound barrier.
Houses are now built for modern convenience and function, as well as energy efficiency. this house is dark , small and has little planning for storage. This house has cute details but lacks any functional space. Look at the kitchen where are the dishes, pots and pans stored? Where is the food stored? How about the bedrooms? Where are the closets? Cute disappears when you have to hang up your clothes. Even in 1926 there were modern appliances that were used in homes built in that era. We grew up,in homes built BEFORE 1926 and they were well designed, light, good storage and the thought used for day to day living was apparent. Not so in this house. Cute doesn't transcend when you have to scrounge around for day today needs.
@@christinemeleg4535 I see your point, but I prefer these styles. To each his/her own. Since men were the ones designing homes, for the most part, some of them did not consider how to make the kitchen more functional for the house wife.
Storybook Tudor is just about my favorite style of house to check out! I live in a 1970s slab foundation Ranch with a hip roof. We built it in 1973 when we were only 24 and 25. Raised out 3 children here, and yes, at 74 and 75, we are still here! We have maintained it and kept it up, facelifted the kitchen and hall bath.
7:17 "died of heart break". As an artist my self, and such a deeply personal project a home is, I can imagine his bitterness and personally I'd be truly enraged. Glad it outlived him at least and that some people appreciated it. Thanks for sharing this vid with us.
It truly was tragic. We hear that the new owners have every intention of restoring the house and keeping it original to his vision. Hopefully the house will live on as intended for many more generations. Thank you for watching!
The lesson is: *Don't build your dream house if you can't afford to own it.* The bank wasn't being mean. They took it away because he wasn't paying them back.
I didn’t know my dream house existed until I saw this video. Oh I wish I could live in something like this someday. My heart breaks for the architect who poured so much of himself into the design and construction but never got to live there. I can’t help thinking that part of him continues to watch over what is so obviously a Heart Project. ❤️💖❤️
A charming little cottage 💕indeed. I hope the new owners appreciate the uniqueness of this house and keep it as original as possible inside and out. Many people just don’t care about old, historical structures anymore.
It’s everyone’s dream place! Who ever gets to take care of it is blessed. If it’s for sale, I’m in! This is superb in every way…thoughtful beyond words and I’m grateful it’s been made. The designer, architect, artist, creator…added something so very beautiful to the world. ❤thank you for sharing it with us. 😊
This is the most charming little house I’ve ever seen, such a masterpiece. The designer not getting to move into it after all his hard work is just heartbreaking. This would be the perfect house for me as I’m an artist and would make good use of the studio. It has everything you need in a house for a little old man and his dog. I could have that as my forever house, although I love my house as well. Thank you again Ken you do such a good job and you notice all the tiny details that make a place special. I just love how cozy this house is, how it wraps around you gently drawing you up and down stairs, through arched passageways and secret rooms.I really am mesmerized by this little treasure and I have just the right furniture for it. I used to drive by that little house daily! I am a retired school bus driver for the school district there. I had a bus stop right on the corner. I was always curious about it. I'm so glad you did the video tour to satisfy my curiosity of so many years! ❤
Some of us really love our old houses. It is so fun to see his design and I LOVE the old wishing well. I can totally see weddings taking place at this house. I love tiny kitchens, but it seems to me that the kitchen isn't original, but more 70s etc. It would be so fun to see a more Deco look in there. Only my opinion. I love the Fairytale. Thank you.
Thank you for sharing this. Every single room you'd go into I'd gasp and say out loud " That's soo pretty!". Instead of the feeling of being stuffy or old it oozed charm and just really felt like a fairy tail! I so hope it gets loving caretakers who appreciate all its charm.
What's truly amazing about this house is that it managed to survive without the usual phillistinized 'remodeling', up-dating, modernizing etc and the weaponized paint brush....

So much European charm - love the rustic coziness of the cottage. The sunroom would be perfect for cats. If you aren't really tall, this home would be so nice for someone who likes to make wine/cider/beer.
The pervasive odor from fermentation will make you wish for a more functional windows and ventilation. We know, we have fermented wine, it stinks during the fermentation process. Also where is the wine press? Where would the equipment be stored, it is expensive and must be protected from mice and rats. In the poorly ventilated shed? Get realistic, this house was not designed to be functional.
Wish there were more homes like this that have that storytelling feel, to bad most homes are too generic with the cheapest materials used. What a great way to make a comeback by having a neighborhood of charming homes like this.
What a beautiful house, I love the designs of Victorian houses, they should sell or give away the exact plans of the house because that design is super beautiful 🥰🥰🥰
I adore this whimsical, quirky house. My favorite detail is the little mice in the kitchen! I once lived in a Frazier Forman Peters house in Darien, CT. He, too, worked with wood, stone, and multi mini levels, including one little bedroom that required an 5 step wooden ladder to enter! It was love at first sight.
The most beautiful house I’ve ever seen💗💗💗!! And that’s counting many McMansions I’ve seen! I’d much rather this house than any multi million dollar modern house!! So much personality!! Incredible!! I wish this house could talk and tell us its history!! ❤️❤️❤️😍😍😍
What a gem of a house. I am surprised at the low price. It looked in wonderful shape to me considering the age. I lived in St. Louis for almost 25 years back in the day and I am astonished this is still on the market.
Our thoughts exactly! The sellers are motivated to sell it quickly and find the next person who can take care of it. Sometimes a good deal isn’t too good to be true. We hope they find the right person to become it’s next steward
Well, they’re accepting offers till Monday evening and then going from there. It mostly doesn’t work the way it used to where you put an offer in and it was dealt with right away. Now houses are shown for a period of time and offers are collected until a deadline is reached then reviewed and one chosen. I think $150k is a pretty fair price for a 2 bdrm, 1 bath, 1000 sq ft home with no garage being sold “as is”. 🤷🏼♀️
As a qualified home inspector, this home will require a lot of work, to be serviceable down the road. You could easily spend another 150K on upgrading and maintenance.
@@rozinant1237 Why would you upgrade an historical home besides possible utilities? What would they spend another 150k on if it wasn't completely altering the home and property? Id guess it would be grandfathered in if it came to modern building code. It was cared for.
After almost 100 years, this home, almost assuredly, has two major problems. Notice how the ground floor sits even with the grade (dirt) this is one of the aspects that gives the house it’s cottage charm. Unfortunately this means that the structural floor system (wood floor joists) are guaranteed to be rotted out, which is going to be a very expensive repair. And secondly the insulation in this home is minimal at best. Heating bills for this house will be double what new home construction would offer. Some people may use the term “upgrades” to refer to cosmetic alterations, but this home needs serious building envelope upgrades to be habitable. Buyer beware!
I just came across this video . Thank you so much for sharing your grandmother’s house. The house it’s charming. I left a communist country as a child and I don’t know anything about my family history nor where and how they lived. I got emotional while watching your beautiful video. Thank you. ❤️❤️❤️👍👍👍👍👍👍
Ken, your presentation and detailed descriptions are spot on - classy, concise, and complete ... the best house tour guide I've seen ... keep up the great work!
I love this house!!!! For years, I've always wanted to see inside of it so thanks for this tour! I grew up in a mid 1930's home near there that also was modeled after a Tudor design. I really appreciate this incredible architecture, especially in this age where new homes are so lacking any kind of intrinsic value or charm.
It reminds me of the"crazy quilt" sort of bed covering. No need to have regimented brickwork when you can have mosaic of stone outside and of tile in the bathroom. The freeform jazz of architecture...
Such a well done home tour! This is truly one of the best tours I have seen with the presenter being very engaging and comfortable. I usually watch European real estate listing tours (got hooked on these during 2020) and the quality of this rivals multi million dollar listings. Kudos to you!!
I don't know how I missed this one. Such a fun place, though I would be too tall to live there. Thanks for sharing it with us. Hope you are feeling better, Ken and Dalton. So sorry to hear about your accident.
What a wonderful tour, Ken; excellent as usual. So glad you find these unique properties. I felt like I was right there with you and actually taken back to another era. Thank you.

It's beautiful. I could love this house and enjoy living there. I know this is from 2 years ago. I hope the new owners take care of it. From the outside it looks small, but the space is designed beautifully and uses all the available area.
Ken, thank you for a charming tour. I feel like I’ve seen this cottage in a storybook or maybe a dream. Now, all we need is hot tea, gingerbread and rain pattering on the roof!
This house is quaint and cozy. Love it! LOL...what Dana said reminded me of an old newspaper article I once read about a small old town in Maryland with an old stone school building that had been converted into a private home The owner said that some tourists walked in to look at the interior, not realizing that it was a private home as they looked around.
What an awesome house out of all the houses that I have seen this one is my favorite I,m in love,,, it's simply beautiful the bathroom floor is so cool the color of the floor I hope who ever buys it really appreciate,s it
Ken, thank you for your efforts to produce this excellent content. I love watching and listening to your narration. Eloquently delivered. Best voice on UA-cam 🙏☺️
This is beyond original and stunning, I'd move in tomorrow~!!! When the host/narrator mentioned making the studio into one's own.....I melted, I'm an artist. I could see myself sitting in that room painting, reading and writing, also the little 'mice' are just perfection! This is so beautiful a home due to how you can even feel the ambiance through the computer screen, love it!💗💗💗💗
Jaw dropping! this house is Perfection itself. Not only was it built amazing but kept up very well new roof, new central heating, and air conditioning! I'd love to build a house like this. The whole place is a delight and I think I just feel at Home watching you walk around it. Whoever bought this place ended up with a true treasure !
I am glad the realtor told the story of the people who just let themselves into the sun room & then wouldn't leave when she explained that it was still a private residence. Good point: Just because a house has a For Sale sign doesn't mean passersby can just let themselves in.
This house is absolutely beautiful! Thank you for sharing it with us. I would love it just as much as the previous owners, and I would have to give it up as well because of all the stairs. Beautiful house!

I left a communist country as a child and I don’t know anything about my family history nor where and how they lived. I got emotional while watching your beautiful video. Thank you. ❤️❤️❤️👍👍👍👍👍👍
Love our hometown and all the beauty it holds, especially with this house 💕
Absolutely stunning!!! What an amazing home
Ken, your presentation and detailed descriptions are spot on - classy, concise, and complete ... the best house tour guide I've seen ... keep up the great work!
What a beautiful fantasy cottage made into a real home!
What a great looking house, so much soul in its construction, just breath taking.
I grew up in a Tudor Revival house and they are very magical in their way.
It’s a beautiful little gem, I could really see how it could be refreshed and decorated stunningly.
Omg I thought this house was in England! That stone on the outside is beautiful 😍
I love it.
It reminds me of the"crazy quilt" sort of bed covering. No need to have regimented brickwork when you can have mosaic of stone outside and of tile in the bathroom. The freeform jazz of architecture...
Well said!!
This is such a charming and beautifully unique home and property I hope the new owners preserve it with lots of TLC that it so richly deserves.
This house had me smiling .. I love it
What a lovely, whimsical house. I hope it’s bought by someone who really appreciates it!
Such a well done home tour! This is truly one of the best tours I have seen with the presenter being very engaging and comfortable. I usually watch European real estate listing tours (got hooked on these during 2020) and the quality of this rivals multi million dollar listings. Kudos to you!!
Wow, thank you!
I don't know how I missed this one. Such a fun place, though I would be too tall to live there. Thanks for sharing it with us. Hope you are feeling better, Ken and Dalton. So sorry to hear about your accident.
Glad you enjoyed this one! Thank you so much for the well wishes!
What a wonderful tour, Ken; excellent as usual. So glad you find these unique properties. I felt like I was right there with you and actually taken back to another era. Thank you.
Thank you so much! I'm so happy that I was able to share this house with you!

It's beautiful. I could love this house and enjoy living there. I know this is from 2 years ago. I hope the new owners take care of it.
From the outside it looks small, but the space is designed beautifully and uses all the available area.
It’s very beautiful! Whimsical!
Man tudor houses in stl are just too fun. Definitely the peak of craftsmanship imo.
Who knew Missouri has so many cool houses. Thanks.
The region is bursting at the seams with historical architectural styles, thanks for watching!
Ken, thank you for a charming tour. I feel like I’ve seen this cottage in a storybook or maybe a dream. Now, all we need is hot tea, gingerbread and rain pattering on the roof!
I vowed to never buy another house.. but OMG this house changed my mind .. So Charming and Beautiful.. Who ever purchased this house is fortunate.
It really is something special!
THIS IS MY DREAM HOME. Love it so much.❤
This house is quaint and cozy. Love it!
LOL...what Dana said reminded me of an old newspaper article I once read about a small old town in Maryland with an old stone school building that had been converted into a private home The owner said that some tourists walked in to look at the interior, not realizing that it was a private home as they looked around.
WOW!!! Absolutely a fairytale beautiful cozy warm home forever,💛💛
This is so beautiful a home due to how you can even feel the ambiance through the computer screen, love it!💗💗💗💗
Absolutely Gorgeous home!
I have thought of this house often. So glad it popped up today on my recommended.
That is the house of my dreams.
This house is absolutely beautiful! Thank you for sharing it with us. I would love it just as much as the previous owners, and I would have to give it up as well because of all the stairs. Beautiful house!
What a wonderful and quirky house.
It’s so kitschy!!! I love it!
The little mouse peeping out of the hole in the wall is adorable 😍
It’s so Lovely and cozy looking. Beautiful home 🏠
It really is a storybook cottage!!!
Made me cry. Beautiful!
Amazing it's still original . So magical- Halloween and Christmas must have been such fun . So sad it couldn't it stay in the family.
That house needs a slate roof!!!
Preferably a mix of different color and sizes.
I have one a block away from my house.
So nice!😀
