@@GCFD Yeah they are something.... In this showing it may be fine for the mulch needed, However he was throwing the whole tree's & all in there, the roots, stump sand dirt etc create an unclean product, if that was being sold in any manner ( for what they do) that may be an issue of overall quality.
I very much enjoyed this video Shawn as I worked in the utility industry for over forty years. Obviously local code allows for direct bury of the electric line but I am an advocate for installing conduit from one end to the other. I am not convinced that there was enough slack in that trench for the wire to reach its destination. If you have conduit the entire length, its very easy to pull what you need and if there's not enough, you pull it out and put in a new piece of wire. You don't have to dig it up again. Additionally, I would install extra conduits while the trench is open for internet or other utilities.
Having airborne video is fantastic for your viewers...thank you for going the extra mile. This video was very educational for wemen and white collar workers. Blue Sky's America!!
I use some of the smaller chocks from Harbor Freight to keep the trailer from slamming against the truck transmission when loading / unloading. I'm not sure how well it would work with your soil, etc but thought I would mention it.
I like when you add some of the different types of jobs. It shows all of the different things you are capable of and in this case identified a need for additional equipment to do a project efficiently. The mulching machine was a mega-machine that the drone really showed how powerful the machine is. All Good 👍!
Haha thank you Michael! I really try to make some of this content (digging a trench, which is uninteresting by nature) more interesting by adding cool footage and points of view. It was just lucky that mulcher was working while I was there.
Always enjoy your videos. This was no exception. Thoroughly enjoyed seeing this type of content, the trenching, the mulching, and would absolutely watch it in the future. Keep up the great work.
Great Job Shawn. You do with what you have to do sometimes, it is what it is. Keep up the good work! Sometimes i rent the equipment needed to complete the smaller jobs. As long as you are happy life goes on.
I enjoyed the video. I have no exp digging or running equipment but i thiught that machine was doing a fine job. Got thruogh the roots and all just fine. Dedicated machine might be faster less impact but i thiught it was fine. That mulcher was a beast
That was a pretty busy job site. I dunno, I'm no expert but trenching with an excavator seems to be an acceptable way of doing it. Has to be better than hand digging. The giant sized shredder is pretty cool too. Lots of good video of it. After watching You Tube for a lot of years I think a lot of people don't like being on video. You can see it in their body language and facial expressions. Just thought I'd mention that.
Thank you Paul! Chris likes being on video but he was wondering what the buzzing was when he was cutting that conduit. I was wondering if anyone would pick up on that. He couldn't figure it out..
Truly an amazing solution to not-burn-wood. Good to hear excavators are slow b/c my original excuse was that they're twice the purchase-price of a tractor so I don't have one yet.
Enjoyed the video, and like your vehicle/trailer rebuilds, it adds a bit of variety to your main content. Was hoping for a downpour whilst you were digging in expectation of you doing a spoof "Its a few weeks later, and let's see how the water is flowing in the trench" ;-)
Great question! The well is going there and the potential for water lines crossing this electrical line. I think that's why the inspector wanted it so deep.
I enjoyed this video, the mulcher was very satisfying to watch, that was a neat addition to it. Question though, why would you leave the electrical cables open in the ground and not run through a conduit? Just curious as would have thought the entire cable would need to be protected. Thank you for this interesting addition to your videos!
Don’t waste your money on the trencher attachment for skid steer. I had one and they suck to try to turn, your always looking backwards, but a dedicated one you will be so much more happy.
Great info Scotty! I have a toro trencher but it only has a 24" bar on it. I have been wondering about another toro with a 36", a trencher for my mini bobcat, or a full size skid.
In this area of N Carolina we have very little freezing temps. In fact, if they are calling for freezing temps overnight, they will cancel school that evening.
Almost all of DJI drones can follow you by themselves & avoid trees. The current problem is the new AIR 3 doesn't have an FAA RemoteID certificate of compliance & that the Mini 3 Pro is 'remoteID-friendly' & certified without built-in RemoteID, so you can't currently purchase a $1k drone that has all its legal-paperwork to legally fly after the September Law Changes.
@@GCFD I was picturing a big volcano of exhaust gas coming out from that stack when the chipper was at full speed doing it’s thing. Thanks for this video even though you didn’t find it interesting it was for t he fans people enjoy your content long or short
But you were using a digger machine 😃. It was a last minute job, but they knew what they needed before that specific day, they could have sprayed some paint lines for you. Well the red is more to life than concrete drives, and drain pipes, 😂😂 short videos like this using machines is still interesting. I would try a few more see if you get the views that would justify the time to record and edit.
The placement of the septic system is dictated by the health department and they give the permit. However it worked out with the house plans and the site, soil conditions, and topography, this was what they wanted. 👍
This is sure different than installing a drainage video. The location definitely didn’t look like a few blocks RDU. Was the earth sandy or sand with rock?
i prefer the "more interesting" videos, but would rather watch these types of videos once in a while as opposed to not seeing any new videos in a while.

48 gallons of fuel per hour..
Keep all of your videos coming, your videos helped me DIY my drainage solution. I might make a video out of it.

Glad tree roots didn’t seem to be a problem with your trenching. 👌
We got super lucky here. The pine trees have more tap roots than lateral roots, so I was optimistic about this trench. It came out well.

Long or short, I love your videos. Please do all the small jobs as well! Great job!

Enjoyed the video Shawn, always interesting to see how your skills and business come in handy for other projects.
I would have guessed that wire should’ve been in conduit. Guess not if it’s going to be inspected. If it were my house I’d be in conduit.
I wondered about that too. This wire was rated for direct burial. 👍
Enjoyed the video, and like your vehicle/trailer rebuilds, it adds a bit of variety to your main content. Was hoping for a downpour whilst you were digging in expectation of you doing a spoof "Its a few weeks later, and let's see how the water is flowing in the trench" ;-)
I like the vids, curious why the 36" though? around here (detroit) code is 18" for conduit and 24" for direct burial.
Great question! The well is going there and the potential for water lines crossing this electrical line. I think that's why the inspector wanted it so deep.
The tree shredder reminds me of the mutton-o-matic at the end of "A close shave"

Variety is the spice of life. I doubt anyone wants to see nothing but downspout drains being installed.
Great point Barry! Thank you for watching and commenting - Shawn
new camera? video is awesome.
Same cameras but I was trying to get some good footage because the trenching was somewhat boring.
That was an awful lot of work. Also, that was some really sandy soil.
For sure! A trencher would have be so fast.

That dug up dirt looks kind of yellowish. I've never seen that kind before.
This is a somewhat sandy soil that has been leached in place. It's also chalky and low in organic matter.
Any content is good content. Doesn’t matter if it’s a simple trench or a concrete job or a drainage job or moving a axle.
