Last year I ran 4180 miles. Agree with you 100%. The culmination of that effort was a 2:44 marathon aged 48. Anyone telling you running long every single day and throwing some harder efforts occasionally is not the proper way to achieve your goals has never put in the effort.
@@khungreen9773 Nah-just an average Joe with the will to run 75-90 minutes every day. No need for fancy training programs or complicated workouts. Just showing up every day, doing 2-3 workouts per month and running 2+ hours every Sunday did the trick for me too. Could I improve even more by following a personalized structured plan? Probably, but that would take away the joy of running by feel. Happy new year everybody!

Fellow hobby jogger checking in! Just finished my last run of the year. I totaled 960 miles this year, completed my first marathon in NYC in November, and finally joined a run club! Aiming to break 1,000 next year and do another marathon in the fall. Keep grinding, folks! Enjoy the process
Started running 4 months ago, ramped up way to fast and ended up in a boot. Ramped up again, and again was out for more than a week. Going slow and consistant now, pace has improved greatly since I started. Excited to train for my first Marathon next year. Ended the year strong, Christmas Eve to New Year’s Eve with 106 miles.

My goal was 500 miles this year, I started running in Janurary. I was feeling accomplished hitting that goal yesterday lol What I learned is I can run and I enjoy it!
Major respect. I started running in Feb of 2024 and it saved my life in every way imaginable. Just found your channel and your story lines up with mine in many ways. I don’t watch TV. I don’t have friends. All I need is a pair of running shoes, a surface to run on, and my kids and I’m good. Less is more and love the process.

Great video today to take out the year..consistency,daily runs and attitude are what works for me..I occasionally take days off, but my system doesn't like that..running can become that habit that keeps us grounded..congrats on a great year and best wishes for the new one..🎉🎉

I just want to say that Yowana’s videos are super inspirational and applying his advice on consistency has gotten me through what has been, one of the toughest years of my life. I’ve been able to up my mileage from 500Km a year to 1610Km this year and applying the lessons on committing to being comfortable in the uncomfortable has helped me deal with personal issues including almost loosing all of my life savings!. Love Yowana’s videos and super great full to this man!!
You're right about priorities and, of course, there's an opportunity cost to everything. Your friends on Wall Street have decided to prioritize their career and making money at the expense of something else. I made a career change and chose nursing partly because I didn't want nannies and grandparents raising my kids. The side effect is that I have been able to put more time into cycling, running, or other exercise on those four days a week that I don't work. This also recharges me, emotionally. I try to think, at the end of my life, what am I going to regret not doing?

That was all the stuff I had wrong with me, depression laziness, and obesity. I’m getting in 53 miles a week let’s go. With my 10 year old we both lost a grip of wight lost the laziness, depression, who buying running seven days a week every Saturday are 13 mile long run building up eventually to a 20 like you

After retiring from competitive running he started a goal to run at least 1 hour a day every day. His current streak is at 12 years 124 days!!! Thought this might inspire you.
Mileage is important but worry people will think this is normal and hurt themselves! Grind within yourself not as others. Charli clearly has a lot of patience holding down the fort!
I mention multiple times throughout this video the importance of setting individual goals and not doing something just because others are doing it. I made sure to emphasize the importance of ramping up mileage slowly and the thumbnail literally has a graph that shows how I took 5 years of steadily increasing my my mileage to reach this level. I ended the video with a 5 minute section addressing the topic of high mileage and injuries. And to your point on my family life - do you want me to film every morning breakfast I have with my kids? The hundreds of bedtime stories I read this year? Every poopy diaper I changed? All of the groceries and clothes I provided with the income I made? Every lesson I taught them? This is a UA-cam channel and you are only seeing what I choose to put in the videos

I'll be 68 in April, have run 36 years & have completed races from beer mile to full Ironman. Vegetarian 30 years & vegan 5. Right knee is shot, but I'm still running. Doc has 4 contingency plans to fix it & I'm on plan 1, cortisone shots. I'll get my 2nd one Friday. Minimal relief, but I don't want to get to plan 4, which is a partial knee replacement, so I'm taking my time letting the others work. I don't have notifications turned on, but I'll check back for a reply, if any.

The bondi is firmer and more structured while the nimbus has more of a soft feel to it. Both will feel comfortable and supportive

Ran just under 1k this year, wasn't milage that caused an injury that's lasted nine months, was the speed sessions that caused it. I'd imagine sprinters have a higher tendancy towards a severe injury than endurance runners, ans it's the severe injury you really want to avoid. Need to start some squats stuff to even out your hamstring to quad ratio and take some pressure off that lower back. Have another great year.
Final episode of the year was not shoes but milage. It's bigger stories for him to be called as a shoe-tuber. It's about message for better life from milage ambassador. I'm about to become a milage evangelist.
i agree with all you said....... what i learned over the years We need to treat ourselves with loving care, this includes our running, as we have only one body to destroy Memories of races and pr times fade away like snowflakes in the sun, family runs on a Saturady stay in our hearts like diamonds in a treasure box. The chariot is our body, the five horses our senses, the bridle is our mind, the passenger is our soul........but we are the charioteer, who guides the chariot by feel to care well for our soul. We never ever should reduce ourselves to servants of a gps watch, or even worse to a talking or writing gps watch

Mileage. Only number goal I set was run sub 3 hours. Crushed that back in March. The rest of the year was just be better consistently. Next year will be the same. Be better. Maybe sprinkle in the new Boston qualifier goal of sub 2:55 lol.

Ran just under 1k this year, wasn't milage that caused an injury that's lasted nine months, was the speed sessions that caused it.
I'd imagine sprinters have a higher tendancy towards a severe injury than endurance runners, ans it's the severe injury you really want to avoid.
Need to start some squats stuff to even out your hamstring to quad ratio and take some pressure off that lower back.

you typically bring water with you or a hydration mixture?
Mileage. Only number goal I set was run sub 3 hours. Crushed that back in March. The rest of the year was just be better consistently. Next year will be the same. Be better. Maybe sprinkle in the new Boston qualifier goal of sub 2:55 lol.
