I'll be honest and say that hobi (More and Arson PLEASE) and suga solos (the entire D-Day album) were my intro to BTS too. So far I have already learned so much about these guys thanks to ARMY. Honestly it was "ugh" and the cypher series ( 1, 2, 3, 4) by their rap line that drew me in but my first songs ever were spring day (if you react to spring day please accompany it with the explanation of the mv, it is so beautiful and tragic) mikrocosmos, and honestly I'd love your first to be dope because it is a BOP. I'm excited for this part of your journey! 💜
Thank you for your reaction. Suga is well known for his deep lyrics... He usually talks about mental health, self love, self discovery, politics, social issues, reflects about Life and people.. although he does have trash songs for haters (they have received a lot of hate and criticism trough their career).
The video is inspired a bit by the Jocker but also by his MV "Daewchita" and the movie Scarface
Here in Haegeum... the chief of police is the one who killed the tyrant king in Daewchita, who has now become corrupted with power... For me it symbolizes Suga's shadow, which is in his unconscious mind due to his traumas and which he seeks kill whenever he feels he is taking off and gaining more power... a part of him reveals himself to the re-installation of the tyrant and kills him
In their discography, BTS has already touched on deep themes and psychological themes in their ballads, as well as in their rap and more pop songs. For example, in their album Map of the Soul, they were inspired by the theories of Carl Justav Jung, who was one of the most popular psychoanalysts of the 20th century and founder of depth psychology, which is mainly based on what exists between consciousness and the unconscious. Jung coined the "map of the soul" and different concepts to explain it, some of them are archetypes that, as if it were a universe that we carry inside, allow us to draw a map that shows how our psyche is configured (Persona, Self, Anima and Shadow)
BTS had its beginnings being more hip hop... over time it diversified handling genres such as: R&B, Pop, EDM, Rock, Jazz
There are a rap sub unit within the group and a vocal sub unit where the rappers have few songs by themselves and the same with vocal line... But most of their songs as a complete group combines rap and vocals

I'm really surprised you have not listened to Yoongi.. or the others... until now when even you are calling them living legends. What in the world!! BTS rappers are the best in the business. Definitely finish off the trilogy with Amygdala. Yoongi has two mix tapes and one album, and they're all amazing. His earlier work is very much about his life and problems he's had with social anxiety, and Amygdala wraps a lot of that up. I can't even begin to recommend BTS songs. It would be exhausting. They're all great. They are legends for a reason.

My recommendations for BTS songs? Start at No More Dream and move forward - or whatever order you want. There are no bad BTS songs, so your good however you go.💜
That said, some of my personal favourites are Black Swan; Blue and Grey; On (specifically the Kinetic Manifesto Film Come Prima, though the Official MV is great to - in fact, watch both, I find the song hits differently depending on which version you watch); Louder Than Bombs (lyric video only); Run BTS (live or lyric video only); Danger; War Of Hormone; and the rest of their discography.
And that's not even mentioning their solo songs.💜

i really do feel that with this cigarette he’s just said “fuck you” to the whole industry that keep dictating idols what do they need to do with their own lifes. and its a BIG fu even just because of how big bts in korea and outside of korea. and i’m so proud of yoongi for just being yoongi, and saying fu to everyone that thinks that they can control the idols❤
the cig is literally just part of how he portrays the character based on himself bc he actually used to be a smoker 😂 its not new symbolism as he has referenced a few times many years ago

It was both hilarious and endearing to watch you react to Haegeum with a little Kooky bag on your shoulder the entire time. It's such a violent MV and Kookie is so cute. The opposites just made it funny to me. The triology of Daechwita, Haegeum and Amygdala were so amazing.
It was a stroke of irony that Yoongi used the cigarette as an example of something relating to haegeum culturally, then when they played the MV before the online version of his concert they blurred out the cigarette. It was such a funny, ridiculous thing to do since they were doing the very thing that made the cigarette important to the MV. It was even more ridiculous because they didn't blur out the gun being pointed at his head that had a clear intent to threaten his life (in the MV) yet in that same scene where we see the unblurred gun, the cigarette was blurred again lol. They didn't even blur the gun at the end where it actually goes off and kills someone. Which makes you think of the silliness around how cigarettes are treated when they cause far less harm in the moment than a loaded gun being shot at someone with the intent to kill. It's good to see art that critiques society and then watch society react to that art by making the point stronger.

Yes the MV was shot in Thailand I think it's the Chinese market I visited but not sure. I just know I've been there on one of my visits to see my brother who was University Lecturer there for 2 years.
The head out the window is a connection to Daechwita where he and his 'hommies' arrive in a car into the court of the tyrant king.
Agust D have 30 songs and i can tell you guys, at least 80% of em are masterpiece.
As you know this is one of his trilogy. When you watch Amygdala, you will understand where he got that scar on his face from. Your guess is so right about him smoking. He explained about it just like you said. This mv took place in Thailand.

Just a little FYI, don't go and watch Amygdala expecting something similar to Haegeum or Daechwita, it's quite different and he talks about some real events in his life. (I wanted to mention that because I've seen some reactors wondering about the lyrics and if it was a character and whatnot... I think it really changes your perception and reaction of the song when you know that what he's talking about is actually his real life.)

The way AgustD continues here fighting his inner greedy self. The corrupt cop (it’s implied in mv and shown in cut scenes the place he stole money from is the cops drug making gang) and the rebel who doesn’t care. I appreciate how he used smoking as a ban to lift on kpop idols. Brilliant in every aspect and he’s the only credited writer composer producer this is 100% him. I’d highly recommend the whole album it’s incredible mostly hip hop/rap but especially Snooze and Polar Night. AgustD by AgustD his first MV is also ridiculously good.
A few songs that feature some more Korean influence instruments Ddaeng (no MV but incredible song with just the 3 rappers the most incredibly interesting flows), Baepsae (all 7, no MV but the Korean cultural context might amuse you), Paldogangsan (no mv, the most hilarious awesome rap celebrating the diversity of accents in Korea), Ma City (no MV, celebrating each of the 7 members Korean home towns soo hype). For RM I’ll recommend Yun (a collab with Erikah Badu just beautiful tribute to Korean artist painter Yun they use a talk he gave as the Intro and outro it’s only translated on a few lyric videos but so impactful but you won’t need it). Also Do You (has an MV). For JHope try the MVs More and Arson.

The cigaret thing... he did it bcs when they went to an award show in the US, there was a controversy about his band member about being photographed smoking and Korean media and stuff where being annoying about it, so he was like, f*ck that, an Idols should be able to do whatever they want. Agust D is all about fairness, justice and even though him being one of the 7 most famous Idol/person of Korea, he is still just a human being like all the other people on this planet. This is why BTS is so popular, the message is always there. They diss, but in a good way, not just lyricly but also musically. He produces his own things, and so does the other 3 rappers from BTS... He is a music genius... I love AGUST D/SUGA! I love this reaction (I love all yours reactions btw 😏... It was not necessarily because of that incident he never explicitly said that. The only time he addressed why he added the scene was in the documentary and he clearly said it was in general that idols are held at such high standards and are criticised for smallest things which is why he used a scene like that.

There are a lot of imagery in the MV that relate to the lyric's eg Agust D Smoking being the big one that sticks out and might even mean the MV will be banned in SK. He's said before he's 30 and you get to tell me what I can and can't do???? He's saying this to kpoppies who distroy Idols for choosing to smoke. BTS have always done things that are not seen the 'norm' in kpop eg look at the fact they all have at least one tattoo. BTS have Creative Freedom which is not the norm in Kpop. They are the rebels who stick out like the saying goes I raised nailed will be hammered down. But No one's going to succeed making BTS bow down and be hammered into the Kpop norms. They've always been the one's that speak, rap and sing about things the Kpop industries don't do. It's why BTS lyrics are so so important they have real meaning. It's also why the majority of BTS fans A.R.M.Y are not Kpop fans we are BTS fans.

I would suggest their Cyphers live eg Busan Yet To Come Concert from 2022. or the one with Supreme Boi I've suggest their the Rappers subunit tracks As for other BTS full group songs what's your favourite genre of music we can then we can point in the the right direction as a Starting point. But be aware BTS are grounded in Hip Hop but they love to use other genre's and mix genre's. In would suggest you might want to look into the Guide to BTS by Taylor so you know who they are and what they do. Each member is a soloist in their own right and each member is a Song Writer, composer and Producer. Suga(aka Agust D) is an award winning Producer btw.

I could never understand the mentality of those people. I only found your channel today....I only saw Butter@ BBMAs, PTD, then AGUST D.....do you have more BTS reactions that I am not seeing? I am not sure what you have or haven't listened to so that is why I ask. If you haven't, could you review BTS Proof album's new tracks? (Yet To Come, Run BTS, For Youth, and the not new but newly released Born Singer) Also, Jhope released an amazing album called Jack In The Box. Hi! At this point, we can call any type of music American because they( specifically Black people) invented those in most case. But every artist reinvents the genre with their own creativity. This is clearly not American or pop. Kpop is an industry composed of many genres and rap is one of them. You don't need to be of certain race/ethnicity to enjoy music. And if you really want to be annoying, you can check some BTS where they express their love for the genre and music in general : such as Hip hop file, We on, Born singer (adapted from Born sinner) and more. Plus, they always mention the artists who inspired them. Lastly, they have had several collabs with Black artists: Nicki Minaj, Erykah Badu, Desiigner, Juice Wrld (rip🙏), Anderson Paak, Meghan Thee Stallion, J Cole... It's really unfortunate that "we" still have to prove appreciation but at least now you know🙃.
