  • Our latest single is a Hank Williams deep-cut, streaming everywhere on September 6/2024.
"The Log Train" is said to be the last song anyone ever heard Hank sing, and the demo of it was probably one of the last songs he recorded. It's about his father, Lon, who worked as an engineer at a logging operation in Alabama. It's a heartfelt story that must have mostly come from Hank's imagination, as he hardly knew his dad and definitely wasn't with him at that point in his life.
Showman flexes his pizzicato fiddle muscles on this one. He does a masterful job singing this plaintive ballad over a lovely pattern - the banjo and the bass slide in later in the mix with some high lonesome harmonies.

I've always loved the way you do this tune and thrilled you've recorded it. The harmonies - vocally and instruments are superb. Beautiful video to match ❤

Yes, beautiful simplicity, great background story. We live in logging territory in Oregon, and the images bring home how difficult that life must have been.
