The synergy between the lyrics and the guitar solo somehow express the emotions of many ordinary Hongkongers. This was the best part Beyond gave us in their productions. One of my all-time favourite Beyond songs.
This song was one of the theme songs for a HK movie titled "天若有情" ("A Moment of Romance" 1990, starring Andy Lau, a HK movie star). The lyrics somehow were related to the storyline of the movie. I suggest you to watch the live version ( Beyond's 1991 live concert). The solos between Wong Ka Kui (acoustic guitar) and Paul Wong (E guitar) is classic. Although most of the time Paul Wong playing the lead guitar, Wong Ka Kui was also a wonderful and powerful guitarist.
The movie is about a man involved in underground gangsterism. Where he was trying to help his close friends to gather enough funds for defending a lawsuit. However, he had to disobey his kind heart to get the fund. Which is the grey path (between right or wrong)
Beyond band leader ka kui, always taught their fans when listening the songs they performed ,used the heart to feel it and open the ears listen to the music and not just down at the stage keep shouting their name. When playing rock song then only u give a big reaction and shout, when playing romance song just sit tight, listen and feel the music . This is how he taught their fans.
This is a very awesome song. You can really enjoy the passion they have for music just by listening to their guitars. Its very rare to often have a songs where both acoustic and electric guitars are used and play out individual solos. Ka Kui, the lead singer, always enjoys playing his acoustic melody and Paul Wong would commonly be the one who is playing the electric solos in most of their songs. Even though most of the rhythmic solos played by the electric guitar is written out by Ka Kui, he still prefers to strum the acoustic. Paul Wong would always mention about how Ka Kui was the one who got him to fame by encouraging him to learn the guitar and mentoring him. Ka Kui was not only a genius lyricist but also a gifted guitarist. RIP Ka Kui. Who would ever know how much better music can be nowadays if only you were still here!
It was the soundtrack of the movie called A Moment of Romance which is the gangster film and the lyrics is kind of saying that there's no turning back as a gangster as the song name suggest 'Grey Track'
The Lyrics sounds more like a love song that the singer begs the lover not to leave. Her eyes instantly filled with tears. They still have to part ways. He feels the world became void and meaningless. The other lyrics then describe how he spiral downs into deep regrets for his entire life. More or less. Hope this helps.
Beyond (Wong Ka Kui) also wrote English song in his early twenties when the band was an underground band. You will find English lyrics in this video. The name of this song is Myth. ua-cam.com/video/RgVWgXLhq_4/v-deo.html
As a Beyond fan, I haven’t found anyone who likes them likes their “Real” music… I am very confident to say those are not the works they feel most proud of and can represent them artistically…in fact, they hate some of these sappy ballads that were forced by the record company to write them for gaining mass audiences. The best part of the song is the guitar solo, it is like lovers talking to each other with all their deepest emotions. I highly recommend the 1991 live version of this song, the most classic version of the solo from my view!
Woah Beyond!! When Cantopop was at its best. Great guys, Ka Kui bless his soul, super talented lead singer died too young too soon. I'm glad I had the honour of meeting them in person back in the days.
It was a Japanese gameshow. They were on a stage approximately 3m high and had to play and run on wet stage. The host was charging toward him and he lean back to the wall but the thin wall behind him break off and he fell backward together with the host. The host fall forward which is how he survived breaking the fall with his hands but Ka Kui fall backward head first. He was still conscious when they sent him to the hospital. They're not sure if they can operate on him due to his brain got really swollen, it was said that if they operated on him he still might suffer from some type of paralysis after the surgery. In Hong Kong they tried to contact the doctor who operated on Jackie Chan for help but couldn't reach him. 1 week later he passed away.
@@Mrs.miriam "If I don't have music, I will die". This is something Ka Kui often mentioned. I believe it's something they took into consideration. That if they operated on him without the confidence that he could still be able to play instruments or even be living normally would he be able to live on or would it make him be in unbearable suffering? Paul mentioned in an interview that he knew Ka Kui would be in so much pain losing his ability that he might rather die, perhaps what had happened means he doesn't have to suffer and peacefully go to the after life.
@@Mrs.miriam Probably. It depends. However many people prefer to turn a blind eye to the horror that the patient experience for their own selfish needs. What you say are exactly what people say to depressed patients.
I was 14 when he passed away, couldnt believe it, I heard that he tried to protect his guitar with his arms when he fell down, thus landed on his head unprotected, few days later he passed away. His guitar was buried with him placed on top of his coffin. 😢😢
love watching your face when the guitar solo came in 🤣 you know back in early 90s / late 80s , there is no any rock music in Hong Kong , so when Beyond show up , that really a big hit ! ( please go check out Beyond - Amani ) bad English, hope you can understand and thanks for the video , bring back a lot of memories !
This song is Gray Track (灰色軌跡), a very famous sad song of Beyond. You may listen another very brilliant and also very famous Fight Against Devil in Heart (戰勝心魔)
I think this is my favourite song of them and I don't understand a word that they sing. They were a big deal in the 1990s and I live in Australia during that time and their songs were a huge hits to all the Asian teens here because back then Cantopop is equivalent to Kpop nowadays.
Kind of an event. Simply speaking, at that time, Hong Kong music community was only focusing on Pop songs, many talented musicians couldn’t show their talents completely, so was Beyond. These talented were always forced to give up their own music to some extent, and to make pop songs, which could make lots of profits for the companies. Hence, they went to Japan for another development, which unfortunately led to the accident of his death later.
