Paramount's Kings Island - November 2005

- This video contains some of the first HD footage I ever shot at a park. I purchased a Sony HDR-HC1 on the last day I was in Japan a few weeks earlier. This video also includes a few shots of Scobby's Ghoster Coaster, a Caripro suspended family coaster, which closed after the 2005 season.
Also, it was incredibly windy while on top of the Eiffel Tower so music was added instead of the wind that distorted the audio. I added the tilt-shift effect segment in post.

This is the kings island I remember and loved the most. It's still great today but nothing like it was here in this era
Hi Sean, I love the video! that camera is so good for 2005, And I can see Son of Beast with the loop still there to!
Thank you! That camera was incredible. It was a Sony HDR-HC1. It was one of the first consumer HD cameras that had that quality. I purchased it the last morning I was in Japan, on the way to the airport, back in 2005.
@@SeanFlaharty By the way did you ride Son of beast or was it closed
Such fantastic HD footage from 05. I don't even think my camera from 2012 was this good.
This was recorded with my Sony HDR-HC1. That was one of the first HD cameras I had seen on the market. I purchased it on the way to the airport in Tokyo on my final day of my 2005 trip. The camera doesn't work anymore but I purchased another one so I have a backup if I need to re digitize anything.
Son of Beast looked quite impressive from the tower.
Hi Sean. This is absolutely incredible. Very rare to find such high quality footage from this era. I'm working on a video about Paramount's Kings Island and I had wondered if I could use some of your footage? I'd credit you on screen for any clips used. Btw, I really appreciate this amazing collection of theme park history you've put together. What a resource for people to be able to come back and see things like this.
Sorry for the delay. I haven't been on my channel in months so I am just seeing this now. Yes, feel free to use anything I have as long as a credit is provided
This feels strangely nostalgic, even though i started going to KI in 2018
Son of Beast… I miss it😞😣 Kings Island hasn’t been the same, thanks a lot RCCA and Paramount🥲
Sean congrats on 200k subs nice milestone
Thanks, Nick. I wasn't even aware I hit that until last week when I got an e-mail. Lol.
@@SeanFlaharty your welcome Sean that’s a heck of a milestone
Was that the Son of Beast? I wish it was still there, I probably would fit on Drop Tower with the Green shoulder harness.
Yep, that was Sonny.
@@SeanFlaharty I hopefully will visit Kings Dominion in Virginia for Drop Tower, maybe that can fit my due to my boarded shoulders.
Nice to see what the paramount era looked like
It was a much different place. If I am being honest, those years weren't my favorite, even though those are the years are where I have the most footage from.
Any son of beast footage from 2005-2007??
Unfortunately, I don't have any more footage of Son of Beast past the day I recorded this.
Great footage. ❤️
The park was open in November?
Yes, it was. The park used to have their closing weekend in November during some of the years prior to Winterfest.
If I only have Saturday and next day Sunday to go to Kings Island and Kennywood this weekend, which park which day?? Not sure of the crowd levels at each park on weekends at the end of June
I am a bad one to ask for this year as I didn't even get a pass to a park or chain this year. KI seems to have the larger weekend crowds. I haven't been to KW in many years. I hope to change that this year.
@@SeanFlaharty first year I don’t have a pass of any kind either! If you can go to KW on a night they’re open till 10 like it was last week, I absolutely suggest it because night rides on Phantom’s Revenge were INSANE!!! 🤯🤯🤯🤯 top 5 for me! And it wasn’t even in my top 25 before! Just be warned we traveled 9 hrs one way to get there and there was a sign Steel Curtain and Thunderbolt had scheduled maintenance without any warning the day we were there. Also, Exterminator and Kangaroo broke down multiple times so maybe the earlier the better on those 👍🏼
I have heard similar stories about the park and their maintenance. It's the main reason I haven't tried to visit since Steel Curtain opened as I wanted to wait until any bugs were worked out. It seems those bugs are still there. I am glad you enjoyed Phantom's Revenge. Such a great ride!
@@SeanFlaharty yeah good call cuz I thought the issues would have been worked out by now. Was maintenance an issue before Palace purchased the park? Cuz it was really next level and I’ve been to like 40 parks and haven’t encountered anything like it. Lots of angry people in that park and it was a Saturday. Phantom was epic at night!!
@@Joypyf Kennywood is a strange park. It has had many ups and downs. In 1997, I walked around a corner and interrupted a drug deal in process. There was a guy standing with cash in hand and another guy handing him a baggie of white powder. They both looked at me and ran different directions. It happened as I was leaving the park. I reported it to staff but they didn't seem to care. I have had many great days at the park after that. I just don't visit very often nowdays.
I got a headache just looking at Son of Beast
👍👍👍🙏🙏🙏
can you bring us more paramount parks footage soon?
Hey Sean, big time fan here! Hey, I was asked by the author of the new history book on Kings Island - A Ride Through Time - to create a video regarding the history of Kings Island.
Anyways, I was wondering if you’d be ok with me using some of your footage with the proper credit for my new video?
Let me know, I’m really excited about this and having people learn more about one of my favorite places!
Thanks - Brandon Stoff
Hey, Brandon. Many thanks for watching! Yes, feel free to use my footage. Please tell Evan I said hello.
Sean what's up dude..i been trying to get in touch with u.. no luck..thought I'd try roller coasters and sure enough found u..
Hey there Brad! Nice to hear from you man. I don't have social media (unless you count this) but my e-mail can be found on the 'about' tab of my main channel page. I hope all is well.
Hi Sean. I am just checking in to see how you are doing. Its been long in between your videos. So this old friend from Taxachusetts just wants to see if everything has been going well. I hope so. Get back to me soon if you can~

I have been taking a break from everything UA-cam and coaster related. Today is the first time I have responded to comments in months.
Hey, Sean Flaharty! Which day did you visit Kings Island?
Which day in 2005?
I have visited hundreds of days. If you mean the day of this video, it was recorded on the closing day of the 2005 season .
i was born this month
Nice
