It was the wondrous, beautiful Trespass album that did it for me in late 1974, when I was 14 It has always been my favourite Genesis album! sttgaegoaktd
They are geniuses indeed, their "monastic life" in Charterhouse & the cottage also helped. Their commitment to music around that era, given their young ages, was extraordinary.
La belleza del album Trespass es incalculable. Aquí fué cuando aprendí a disfrutar la música de Genesis. Gracias, Maestro, por su adaptación a la Guitarra Clásica, impecable ejecución ❤
My pleasure! I tried to include as many parts as I could. Some guitar arpeggios or keyboard parts are difficult to reproduce if you want to keep the vocals though. Thank you, Jack.
Oh, man. Great. Particularly liked the way you played two sections: where Fang son of Great Fang hears his doom read out (my favorite part of the song anyhow) with that creepy bass. also the finger brush tremolo toward the end. really brings out the quality of wind-blowing-thru-the-icy-forest. Very nice, Alex.
Those two sections for me are the best parts from the original song. It´s a shame that, in this take, I couldn´t make the singing line at the lower strings more noticeable with that brush tremolo near the end. Thanks to you, if I hadn´t heard your arrangements I wouldn´t be doing these.
I wondered how to sustain the long notes from Gabriel's flute and that tremolo came to the rescue. Is one of the parts that needs more practice though. Thanks!
Bravo à vous, jeune homme. Et c'est un vieil amoureux de la musique de Genesis qui vous le dit. J'espère que vous prenez autant de plaisir à jouer que nous à vous écouter.
Its a shame you don't get to hear the applause you deserve after the last note played , Alex. Great song choice to come back with and wonderfully executed as always. Now the photo makes sense. Welcome back my internet friend.
I could throw endless praise and suitable adjectives at this, but all I will say is that I hope one day Ant gets to learn of your playing. That said, it's hard not to say that, actually, this is simply phenomenal. Myself and all the others who have loved this video are now on a mission to find the two morons who have given it a thumbs down . Outstanding and thank you ☺
Thank you for your loving words, I really appreciate them. As for the dislikes it's really no big deal, I've come to terms with the fact that you cannot please everybody no matter how hard you try. About Ant, I really don't know if he's seen this one. I know for a fact he did with other previous videos of me playing his music because he actually got in contact with me by mail to compliment on my playing. What a shock! I wish I have had better guitars and sound equipment to make his music more justice though. Cheers!
@@hyperboreal Well indeed - I just find it extraordinary that someone would have to be so petty-minded as to find fault. You have brilliantly captured the essence of this wonderful piece of music. Anyway, I have sent you a friend request on Facebook - perhaps I'll see you on there - I could perhaps also share with you music of my own which I have on Soundcloud - thanks again and maybe we speak soon eh!
what kind of playing Technique is that called at the 5:50 mark. I remember Mike Rutherford playing that part on the first trick of the tail tour. was very superhuman lightspeed like.
I have no idea. Let's call it "finger brush tremolo" although you can do the same with the side of the pick too. Rutherford did that a few times with Genesis and Ant also does it.
Yeah, I think they bought a used one from King Crimson. I remember how the first Mellotron chords on Moonlit Knight felt to me like a magic carpet taking off.
I feel like, even with The Knife and Stagnation on the same album, THIS was the song which made me truly love Genesis forever.
Yes!

I like dusk and all of A.Phillips
same for me
Amen...
I used to always wonder, how did they do it at only 19 years of age. Such brilliant composers. Maybe Ant will see this.

hyperboreal , age of the soul too. Peter was a very old soul.
This allows the muse to visit to impart specific information.

Great! It captures all the orchestral aspects of the original song just with one guitar - very impressive! Thank you for doing this!

quel boulot ! superbe transposition, bravo 👍🏻👍🏻
piu l'ascolto e piu mi piace . mette tranquillita nell'anima. bravo max
I really loved the part around the 2:00 mark. The use of tremolo there was really inspired!
I wondered how to sustain the long notes from Gabriel's flute and that tremolo came to the rescue. Is one of the parts that needs more practice though. Thanks!
One of my favorite Genesis song, beautifully done man.!!!!!!
Amazing ... no other words to say ... the best version ever heard ...

J'espère que vous prenez autant de plaisir à jouer que nous à vous écouter.
Merci beaucoup, Jean-François. J'ai d'autres morceaux de Genesis à partager à l'avenir.
What improvement? None needed. A great rendering of an oldie classic. Thanks for making it come alive with a classical guitar!
I was thinking more in terms of better execution than of tweaking the arrangement. Anyway, thanks for your comment.
You have nailed it. Bravo.
Thanks a lot again.
che bravo!
Wonderful .... without words !!
Istening again, sooo good
Thanks, Nigel!
Sei un genio straordinario !!! Un arrangiamento pazzesco !!

Hey Gerald, thanks a lot. Good to know you were intrigued by the picture. A pack of wolves in it would have been somewhat more revealing. See you!
Che classe...! GRANDE.
Happy to be the 100th person to tell you you're great.
Magnificent playing and wonderful arrangement, Alex. That brushing at the end is so atmospheric. Wonderful job. Thanks for posting this.
Jim
The open tuning helped a lot. It wouldn't have worked as this with standard tuning. Thanks for watching, Jim!
Very well done sir.
Perfect playing. Very well done. Thank you. Thump Up!
We didn't have to wait long after all! Beeeeautiful !
Yeah, in the end I decided to use the early take I had. Is not perfect but I get tired easily now if I have to go through several takes. Thanks!
Just beautiful, Sir!! You make look so easy, as well. You're very talented, indeed!!
One of their greatest unique moments. Thank you for doing it again .
My fav from Trespass. Well done!
Mine too. Thanks.

Beautiful cover I think this song would be great to use for a dungeons and dragons montage in a movie
Thank you, I think my nerdy me aproves.

Hi Mia, thank you!
lovely lovely
Neat guitar suggestion of equivalent mood where mellotron was used.
Thanks a lot. I love the Mellotron sound in Genesis' music. Good that Hackett convinced them to get their own Tron for the following albums!
Yeah, I think they bought a used one from King Crimson. I remember how the first Mellotron chords on Moonlit Knight felt to me like a magic carpet taking off.
Grande!!
