    I think the cruelest irony of all here is that we're talking about black women who had the courage to come out, in a very public way, about getting raped. We're talking about black women, historically disenfranchised and doubted when it comes to rape accusations, having been given a voice finally. And Tariq Nasheed, supposedly a champion of antiracism, cropped their photo to take away their voice.
    Maybe it's just me here, but I feel as though he probably doesn't care about black people having a voice if it isn't his.

      I dont think he truely cares about black people at all. All i see when i look at him is hate, hate for white people. With a heart that full of hate i cant see how he could care for anything.

      +kliptor3 not really, its just phil not getting involved with idiots for the preservation of his, and his communities sanity. Its his usual stance.
      He might report on idiots and if the person seems somewhat willing to converse he might indulge but just going by that twitter back and forth I could see why Phil isn't bothering to go in-depth.
      I know I wouldn't, that's the sort of guy where if you're agruing with him you eventually just let things drop whether they think they've won or not because you just can't be bothered to argue with someone who will have aggressive faith in their position to the point of blindness.
      Most would come out of this is basically similar to what people do when Trump f's up and therefore it goes big enough to catch his attention, just comment on it a bit for a little laugh.

    Yea I was 18 and an athlete when my dr prescribed my opiates when I broke my hand played football, and another doctor kept writing me the opiate scripts so I could keep playing with a broke hand. He put a cast on me and fed me meds for the last three football games, and continued to prescribe through the whole wrestling season. After wrestling (the papers started headlining the opiate epidemic in 2010) the second doctor abruptly stopped the pain killers. What did the doctor think was going to happen? I remember the champion ship game during football, we played in a college stadium. My hand was 3xs the size it should've been from the week playing before and bulging out of the modified cast I had. Instead of taking 1 pill I took two pills that day. And it was the first time in my life I was ever high. Before I never drank or smoked week--I skipped all the gateway drugs. I played great, asked my doctor to up the dose and he did (this should've been warning sign for the doctor). Fast forward to when the doctor cut me off, I was obviously still in real pain because of what I put my body through. And X-ray over 18 weeks later showed I still had a broken hand. And because I liked the high the first time and my doctor appease me upping my dose (I ran out of my script early because I was doubling or tripling my dose, why didn't he take this as a $ign??) I sought out people with stronger opiates and doctors that were complicit with the dirty doctors/pharmacies in the newspaper. One thing lead to another and looking back I wasted a good chuck of my prime years. I thank god I'm doing great now and I was able to get over it. But--while my family noticed the warning signs and got me help, the friends I had graduated with that have similar stories, some of them as young as 19 years only getting 30mg oxycodone (aka Roxie's) and 80 mg OxyContin (aka OC) from doctors right in my white middle class town weren't so lucky. Knowing what I know now those medications are for cancer patients and people on their death bed, not kids. 19,20,21,22 year olds, absolutely disgusting these doctors ruined their lives. I'm lucky, but of I could have a face to face with some of these dirtbags now I'd tell them how their greed for some extra money from the kickbacks the pharmaceutical companies killed my friends. Most went on to heroine, some didn't, some got heals. But with out exaggeration I know at least 25 kinds personally that died between 19-25 that all have similar stories. One doctor told my friend he was okay writing the scripts because he was trying to put his kid through college. This always disgusted me because my dude never even had a chance to go to college with the addiction he got. Some of you are going to say the doctors didn't force these kids to take drugs. Which is the shittiest excuse I'm the world when your talking about such a highly addictive drug that's made for CANCER Patients. I'm lucky and my family was there for me and saw the signs. I never graduated to heroine. But I was around when the pharmacies started tracking what doctors prescribed in New York and doctors were being walked out of their offices past their 100 thousand dollar cars on the news, and the doctors stopped prescribing painkillers to almost everyone, even people on the like my buddies dad who was prescribed them for over 25 years. I saw how these kids fell into heroine, and I'm sure no ones going to understand, but they felt like they had no choice. So many of these people had no idea what physical addiction was addiction was when they took their first opiate, most of them made vows to never graduate to heroine or IV use after they realize the shit hole they put them selves in. But quite frankly I'm most towns, like my NY suburb pain killers disappeared or the prices went up so high you couldn't afford them on the street, and people needed they're fix to function in society like going to work or to school. So yea, they turned to heroine. The police/doctors/pharmaceutical companies fucked a portion of my generation. Sometimes I feel like these people were sacrificed so big pharma and doctors could make that extra cash flow. Lol okay rant over. Sorry guys I've just seen it all happen personally and I was in or very close to the situation. Out of everyone I knew that used painkillers or graduated to heroine I know 1 or 2 other people that made it out of the situation. Everyone else was sacrificed and are in jail, rebab (best scenario), or dead. And yea most are dead. I just came home from a wake tonight. Fucking hell man :/

    The problem with trying to get the US to fund proper drug education is that we are not a preventive society. We don't even fund proper education to prevent health problems like heart disease, diabetes, vaccinations or obesity. We always try to fix the problem after it's already developed, so to try and get education for something like drugs is basically never going to happen unless we try to turn to more prevention based strategies. And even then it's so controversial that it would still be difficult.

      Jacqueline Rimmer I don't understand why people always say we should have education for simple common sense issues. Drugs are bad! Eating too much food can make you fat and give you health problems! Unprotected sex can spread STDs and even possibly create a baby! I mean come the fuck on who the fuck doesn't realize having sex can make a girl pregnant? Who wouldn't realize drugs are awful for you?

      Jacqueline Rimmer There is an education program that "prevents" drug abuse in the U.S., and that's D.A.R.E. I put that in quotation marks because it doesn't really prevent drug abuse and discourages the use towards children. Although, the program is poorly funded. Yes, there should be some kind of way to prevent the abuse of drugs, but the program that the U.S. uses is awful and should be replaced with something better.

    I believe part of the misunderstanding with the Mayor of London situation is cultural.
    The Mayor of London telling the world that there is "no reason to be alarmed" follows the ancient English tradition of extreme stoicism in the face of danger.
    England's "Keep Calm and Carry On" campaign during the Nazi bombing raids on London in WW2 are a perfect example. The English people do not panic at the sight of danger; they calmly and uniformly file into their bomb shelters and wait out the siege.

    • @eew8060
      @eew8060 7 років тому

      Damodara Kovie But during WWII they weren't also allowing Nazi's into the country to do as they please. I understand calm stoicism. I do not understand the London Mayor having more vitriol for, say Trump who calls for policy's that would protect citizens than for the actual perpetrators of the terrorist acts! Its disgusting

    • @Deveron4
      @Deveron4 7 років тому

      E.E. W
      Respectfully, I must disagree with this viewpoint. The Mayor of London's original statement *included* the actual steps which the city of London was taking to respond to the attacks, including increased police presence and arrests being made.
      It's easy to say “they weren't also allowing Nazi's (sic) into the country” during WW2, but that statement doesn't account for all the notorious home-grown Nazi sympathizers and outright Nazi supporters which they had to deal with on the home front. There were British nationals being hung for treason because they were performing acts which directly supported the Nazi war effort.
      The alleged ringleader of the London Bridge attack; yes, he was originally born in Pakistan. But it has been reported by British news sources that before he allegedly became radicalized, he had become a British national; going through the background checks and naturalization process like everyone else.
      Other people named as persons of interest were also reported to be British nationals.
      Just as in WW2 with Nazi supporters, it's not so cut and dried as "keep the terrorists out". There are local antagonistic actors who are much more difficult to detect than *any* foreign threat which is out there trying to get in.

    • @eew8060
      @eew8060 7 років тому

      Damodara Kovie That's why Trumps plan to suspend immediately hot spots that produce such a poisonous idealogy would help. As far as homegrown terrorists indeed- arrest people. Hang people. Don't just put them on a list and do NOTHING! Don't ignore problems out of fear of being labeled a "racist" which is s misnomer anyway. The London mayor is indeed harder on those that question the ideology that Islam fosters than he ever was on actual perpetrators of Islamic terror.

    Speaking about the drugs matter, reminds me of a news segment here in the Netherlands where a group of young adults got together as a group to deal with their addiction and the importance of seeking help. It was really inspiring seeing young people getting past their fear and shame of asking for help for something that normally has a stigma on it. Aside from the financial benefits of regulating drugs in America, I would say that the social aspects definitely outweighs that. Someone with political connections with the government should look into that.

      I am going to regret this, but I will defend John McCain because I feel the majority are simply focusing on the faults. Basically John McCain's logic is this. Former director Comey before the election came out publicly and announced that Hillary Clinton's behavior concerning her emails was careless but not criminal. Currently now there is an investigation concerning how the Russians affected our election. If it turns out that Hillary Clinton was involved in some way with the Russians , then how can Comey say with certainty before the election that Hillary Clinton didn't commit any crimes concerning her private email server, when we don't know the full consequences of how the Russians affected our election? Now to some people this is apples to oranges. How Hillary Clinton set up her private email server has nothing to do with whether she colluded with the Russians or not, but if she colluded with the Russians and they asked her to make her emails on a private home server that the Russians could hack, then the two cases are related. What if both Hillary Clinton and Donald Trump colluded with the Russians to ensure that the U.S. stayed out of the TPP? I am generally not a conspiracy theorist but the fact that there was no candidate in support of the TPP bothered me this last election.

    • @quantumchaos1303
      @quantumchaos1303 7 років тому +1

      @Nicholas Perkins No need to regret tossing the idea out there! We actually SHOULD be open to all of the possibilities with the Russian involvement in our election - no matter WHO was involved. The whole thing is very disturbing. But I don't see how Hillary would have gotten much in return for her own involvement - she's now entirely out of the game, and that's clearly NOT what she wanted. Both candidates were disappointing - to say the least. (I honestly think that Trump was simply naïve enough to think that there was nothing "wrong" with colluding with the Russians.) But that's the history of U.S. elections - at least, it has been for the 50+ years I've been around. I've ALWAYS had to vote for the lesser of two evils. I would have loved to have seen Bernie get the nomination - but no - we were stuck with (imho) two monsters to pick from. Like choosing between Godzilla or Mothra.....
      If you're generally not a conspiracy theorist, then here's my best possible advice - don't get caught up in any of it. Follow it, watch it, read everything you can to educate yourself about it - and then do what I'm doing - just wait. Let's see where the investigation goes. Someone is going down at the end of all of this - and I honestly don't care if BOTH of them wind up behind bars.
      Personally, I don't have a problem with McCain - I just thought ian Thompson's comment was hilarious!! :)

    • @nicholasperkins4655
      @nicholasperkins4655 7 років тому +1

      @Quantum Chaos I agree that it is very unlikely Hillary colluded with the Russians when she was the candidate that wanted to restrict Russia's airspace over Syria. I just wanted to point out the level of distrust that John McCain had concerning former director Comey and that John McCain wasn't being completely incoherent. Though the time he said President Comey was really cringe worthy and I am not even from Arizona. I know what you mean concerning Godzilla and Mothra but you might want to watch the current movies because most all of them consider Mothra a "protector" monster and the most recent American Godzilla considers Godzilla the "balance" like the ultimate personification of the yin/ yang.

    • @quantumchaos1303
      @quantumchaos1303 7 років тому

      @Nicholas Perkins Lol - does it show that I haven't watched a Godzilla movie since the early 70's? :D We definitely did not have a choice between "protector" and "balance"!! Just two rampaging beasts stomping on little people. :)
      Don't worry - I did understand what you were getting at. As I said, I don't have a problem with McCain. I do have a problem with our current situation, though - despite what Trump says, we need to get to the bottom of the Russia thing - we can't have them meddling in our elections again. EVER. Unfortunately, at the moment, most people seem to be putting party over country - we need to worry about our country first, and the parties be damned. Someone suggested a new "Rational" party - but at this point, no one seems to be very rational!!

      In the center of the universe 6000 years ago, the universe stirred intergalactic spaghetti noodles in the pot of the holy water galaxy.
      The noodles jumped around the pot, anxiously ready to meet with the red meat sauce.
      As the strainer of the universe poured the water off, the noodles and sauce are attracted to the meatball core because of gravity.
      After 1 hour, Flying Spaghetti Monster opens its eyes full of Italiano sauce.

    I'm really glad you talked about opioids/opiates in this video, I had 4 surgeries in the span of 2 years when I was 15-17 and started using the pain medication recreationally after the second surgery and when I ran out i began getting them off the street but when i was 17 and barely working, 1 pill for $40 and getting 2-3 a day became a very expensive habit and when I couldn't find any pain meds i was offered heroin and decided to try it, i figured why not, its half the price and will last me twice as long, that escalated when I was 18 and I began injecting it which threw me into a downward spiral with my drug addiction such as overdosing twice and having to be brought back to life and getting into a little trouble with the law, nothing too serious which I am very thankful for, I've been to rehab twice and for some reason the last time I decided I wanted to stick with it, now, I have been clean and sober and working on my recovery for almost a year, it'll be a year in about a month, and now, at 21, I was offered this amazing opportunity to work at my local recovery center and I am now the youth coordinator working to get more local youth to find recovery, at this point in my life it's hard to look back at everything I've done and went through but I am glad I don't have to be where I was anymore, everyone can escape that vicious cycle of being an addict, it's extremely tough but it's doable with enough work, even though i don't know anybody, if anyone is going through or has gone through anything like this and need someone to vent to or need advice let me know I'd be happy to, and I believe that no one educating me about drugs when i was young caused me to become interested in WHY they are bad which led to me deciding they aren't THAT bad, plus anyone who has multiple surgeries is definitely at risk of gaining an addiction

    On the one comment about the police brutality story. if the police mistook the victim as the driver they where perueing does that make it any fucking better? that means that those officers didn't take the time to even check before beating the shit out of someone.

    • @Nightingale_time
      @Nightingale_time 7 років тому +2

      No, it doesn't. They shouldn't beat the shit out of the "driver" anyways. Yes, he did something VERY wrong and he will be prosecuted. Physical harm is not necessary. I totally understand the desire, but really, it's just unnecessary, and then things like this happen.

    • @freedfg6694
      @freedfg6694 7 років тому +1

      irockleftsocks13405 in this situation. yes. absolutely. There is no reason police should be violent in any way to an person who isn't imposing a threat or resisting..
      But you can not ignore that sometimes physical force IS required. to this level of kicking someone on the floor? never.

    • @Tamaki742
      @Tamaki742 7 років тому +1

      irockleftsocks13405 Even if it's the driver, they could just turn him on his front and cuff him, he would be really disoriented anyway, the police can easily hold him down. There's no need to beat him up at all, because that's also against procedure.

    • @freedfg6694
      @freedfg6694 7 років тому +1

      Tamaki742 I agree. in this situation.

    On the topic of drugs, I can say that I am one of those people who are addicted and that the war on drugs made my life worse. I obtained my meds legally through prescription due to blowing out 3 discs in my lower back several years ago. This gave me chronic pain, and a disc that likes to randomly pop out which is extremely painful. My doc had worked me up to 10mg percocets over the years, and everything was fine. Well then he retired around the time the government was starting to look at doctors who regularly prescribed pain meds. So my new one, who I was referred to, he didn't ask me about my pain, he didn't ask how often my disc slipped, or what I did for a living that could continually aggravate my back. The first thing he did was cut me down to hydrocodone. These did absolutely nothing to which I argued with him about. Telling him how when at one point my back had went out and I was taking 6 or so of these a day and they didn't help. He tried arguing about addiction, and building a tolerance and just stupid shit that also applied to the hydros, and as someone who had been on the meds for years was already effected by. He just didn't want to give me the percocets for fear of the government may look at his practice. If I was on 30mgs and getting some ridiculous amount before I could understand this. But 2 a day is what I took. And even though they were classified as the same thing he continually refused. But he would sign off on the hydros like the were aspirins. In and out in about 5min every month Ultimately I said screw it and started going to a clinic to get off the meds because I knew one day I'd lose them all together.
    I say legalize and regulate. Alcohol kills more people a year than pills and can ruin a family just the same yet it's engraved in our society. You see a commercial for beer or some drink, and it's always a party. Like drinking is the best thing in the world. If someone wants to put a substance into their body then that is their choice. If they die because of then that's just how the went. The "war on drugs" like Phil said, does nothing but destroy lives and waste millions of dollars. And it doesn't just effect dealers it also effects people who need it and took it like they were supposed to. People take nerve pills or blood pressure pills daily because it's needed so why can't a person take a pain pill everyday if it helps them? The government cracking down on doctors and clinics, often times shutting them down, only led to more crime as people tried to get meds or heroin to avoid sickness. Which they also forced on many law abiding people when they started this shit, and trust me; that is a nightmare that you never want to experience. But you don't see the government putting some of this money towards more rehab clinics? You don't see them setting up free help programs. Hell they tried attacking suboxone as well which many many people use to control their problem. This is probably the longest post I've ever typed out, but this subject really irritates me as I'm one of the people who have been effected by it.

    Tim McClure doesn't understand what he is arguing. He states that he is against government regulation to keep them honest, but it is proven that big ISP's are not honest, and the only reason they are getting in trouble now for screwing consumers is because of Net Neutrality. Removing Net Neutrality would essentially let big ISP companies do whatever they want and take away the rights of consumers to actually enforce any regulation on them. ISPs have partnered together to ensure that their monopolies of certain areas exist or that they directly compete with each other as little as possible so they can charge you whatever they want and give you whatever service they want, and it does not appear that anything is being done about this at the government level. So how would removing Net Neutrality, regulations used to keep ISPs from cherry picking what speed they choose to deliver to you based on what you choose you browse on the internet and which one of those sites are putting more money into their pocket, affect this positively in any way? You should get what you pay for, and ISP's have shown that they continually want to give you less than what you pay for or make you pay more for what you already have. Republicans also have recently let ISPs have more control over your information, which means they can sell your personal information and browsing information without regulation and keep it on file for years . Do you trust them to not sell your information and do basically nothing with it?

    A guy in one of my highschool classes once said, during a debate about religious affiliation, that he HAD to believe in the afterlife. His reasoning was that, this life is so horrible, the idea that nothing better lay beyond it was horrifying. He came from a very rough background and I could never blame him for having this belief. But considering the turmoil that regular citizens living in the middle east must endure on a daily basis, how does ISIS and the radical afterlife beliefs that they hold not seem like a logical extension of that mentality?

Police officers came into our school when we were 10 and taught us about things that seemed irrelevant then but as i've gotten older i have realised how important those lessons were.I think by exposing us to the negative or dangerous things in our society we have individually realised how we should conduct ourselves when we are in the situations we were taught about.

      matacoz because in the US they outright say "Don't do drugs." We as students are never really given all of the facts. It's similar to teachings abstinence and sex education. If people aren't given all of the facts and information then they are less likely to make a smart decision.

      + Broccoli Neko No, you didn't miss anything just the increasing difficulty in trying to remain moderate and logical when approaching emotionally charged contemporary subjects. Most of these subjects have been around for a long LONG time, but the thing that has changed is the level of accessibility people have to information(or lack there of) pertaining to these subjects. (i.e. race, gender, religion, etc.) Several news outlets, and I use the term "news" loosely, tried to basically pigeonhole Phil into a category in an attempt to denounce him due to this channels increasing importance and following. This channel/following being just one of many that threatens the legitimacy of Mainstream Media or anyone who is trying to push an agenda based on emotional reaction rather than logical follow through.
      tl;dr: people be "cray cray" and trying to stick it to Philly D with no real substance so they resort to making shit up.

    The thing about decriminalizing drugs isn't about focusing more on education though, it's about using psychology/therapy as a way to overcome it. People who take drugs aren't criminals, they're sad and looking for a remedy to their unhappiness, a moment of ecstasy, some pleasure, some comfort. Someone takes meth, gets caught, instead of going to prison and having a lifetime guilt trip, they get treated and never feel the need to touch meth again.

    Australia has the most expensive Internet in the world, and our speeds are so much slower than other first world countries. There are heaps of IP's but there is no regulation from the government. This is something we have been asking for in Australia for years.
