  • After four days of filming and learning with Jim Masterson, I could write pages on all that I learned.
Jim is one of the most interesting people I have met, and the Masterson Method has become known world wide for good reason. It works.
In ways we don't fully understand, but that the horse feels.

I remember him saying”let’s see what the horse has to say” totally loved how he listened and watched how the horse responded…my Grace literally layed down and chilled to process after her first session. Was amazing to watch. Wonderful clinician! Thanks for hosting his clinic.

Wow. Thank you. I’m unlearning so much ‘training’ and remembering that childhood connection to horses. You have such a great way with your delivery of concepts. ❤

Thank you. This is excellent. I have had to catch myself from trying to "fix" my horses while doing body work, and it's always good to be reminded of this. I'm a bit passive/aggressive in this regard as far as working with/training my horse. Probably depending on my mood, I tend to either say...."I don't care if you like me, I need you to do x"....or I go the other way and ask..." What am *I* doing that you are not responding"? Yes, I know that last way is the more appropriate response.....

No, it's not more appropriate. ;)
Appropriate would be to first have a great relationship. Only through a good relationship will your horse trust and follow you AND communicate with you. Only through a good relationship will you be able to see and understand what your horse is telling you. (Works for dogs and humans, too. ;) )
Example: Your horse is afraid of some stuff...let's say of a trashbin...only if you SEE and UNDERSTAND your friend you will be able to react correctly. "Oh dear, really? You are afraid of THAT?" - YES I am, it might kill me. "Please, come on...that's stupid. It will NOT kill you. I will show you...I'll get off and walk between you a d that thing." - No, please, it might KILL you! "No, it won't...look, if it does it will kill me first and you can run home, ok? But I KNOW that it will not. Come on". - Hm, ok...
Walk past that think between your horse and the thing...
"See, I told you! It didn't even move because it's not alive or in any kind interested in you. Let's go there and have a look. I will stay between you and THE THING." ...show it to the horse as until it relaxes and you don't have to "secure" it anymore. "See, I was right? You can trust me buddy. You really can trust me in ANY situation, you know? You are such a good and curageous horse. You're the best!" - Oh no, YOU are the best! You are so smart and trustworthy, I really feel safe with you.
End of story...to be continued and repeated in thousand situations in daily life. ;)

Or: - I hate my job...I hate my life...my work is boring and stupid...round and rpund and round...
"Dear, don't you like our training?" - No, I hate it...I'm depressed and kind of stiff today. :(
"Ok, I see...you know, we have to do those exercises."
      - Why are they called exercises when they are not exciting but boring and stupid?
"I don't know why...but let's make them fun. I know what YOU like. You love jumping, right?"
      - OH YES! Jumping is the best thing in the world. 😍
"Ok, wait..." ...get off the horse, build up something to jump over and let your horse do what he loves...
"Hey, buddy, come here, let me get up again...now...let's try that exercise you love to show off to me...oh, wow, you aren't stiff anymore AND you did this exercise now just perfektly! Ok, let's try the harder one...pmg, it improved by 0,5%! Can you imagine? You just DID it better than before! You are gorgeous. Best horse in the world. Come on, let's have some fun now. Enogh for today." ;)

I recently found masterson bodyworksfor my pony. She responded so well to it she would start yawning when the girl entered her stall. Also, my last horse was named Canelo.
