  • The lineage
    Daksha’s daughters’ progeny:
    Vinata’s sons- Tarka, Ariṣtanemi, Garuda, Aruna, Āruni, Vāruni
    Kadru’s sons- Śeṣa, Ananta, Vasuki & others
    Muni’s sons - 14 sons beginning with Bhimasena
    Pradha - 8 daughters, 10 sons, 14 Apsaras and sons- Atibahu, Haha, Huhu and Tumbura
    Kapila - Amrita, Brahmins, Cows, Apsaras and Gandharvas
    Without impure feelings, everyone must listen to the story of creation, for, it bestows longevity, merit, fortune and joy. He who reads it in the presence of Brahmins & Devatas obtains progeny & plentiful money. Upon death, he reaches higher planes.
    Progeny of Brahma’s sons-
    Sthānu’s sons - the 11 Rudras: Mrgavyādha, Sarpa, Nivrtti, Ajaikapād, Ahirbhutya, Pināki, Dahana, Iśvara, Kapāli, Sthānu, Bhava.
    Angirasa’s sons -Brihaspati, Utathya, Samvarta.
    Atri ‘s sons- many supreme rishis.
    Pulastya’s sons - vanaras, rakshasas, kinnaras, yakshas.
    Pulaha’s son - sarabhas, lions, tigers, kimpurushas, bears & wolves.
    Kratu’s sons - the sacred Vālakhilyas who wander with Surya.
    From Brahma’s right thumb Daksha & from left finger a lady emerged. They had 50 daughters.
    10 daughters - Kirti, Lakshmi, Dhriti, Medha, Puṣti, Sraddha, Kria, Buddhi, Lajja & Mati married Dharma. Brahma appointed them as doorways to dharma.
    27 daughters married Moon-god. They are the 27 stars who regulate time movement.
    13 daughters married Kashyapa.
    Dharma had other wives too. Wife Dhumra’s sons were Dhara & Dhruva; Manasvi’s son-Soma; Svāsa’s son-Svāsana; Rata’s son-Aha; Chandilya’s son-Hutasana; Prabhāta’s sons-Pratyusha & Prabhāsa. These 8 sons are the 8 Vasus.
    Their progeny:
    Dhara’s sons- Dravina & Hutahavya;
    Dhruva’s son - Kāla.
    Soma’s son Varchas showers radiance & valour. Soma’s other sons- Shira, Ramana & Prana.
    Aha’s son- Jyoti, Sama, Santa, Muni
    Anala’s sons- Skanda, Śāka, Viśāka, Naigameya. As 6 krittikas reared him, Skanda is Kārtikeya
    Anila’s sons- Manojava & Avijnatagati
    Pratyusha’s son rishi Devala had 2 sons
    Dharma’s youngest son Prabhasa married Brihapati’s sister who was a yogini. Their son was Viswakarma, the celestial architect.
    Tearing Brahma’s skin Dharma came in a human form. He has 3 sons of which Kāma’s wife is Rati; Śama’s wife is Prāpti; Harsha’s wife is Nanda. They pervade the entire world & with their radiance sustain it.
    Marici’s son Kaśyapa is the father of Devatas and demons and hence father of universe. Tvastha’s daughter Sanjya is Surya’s wife. Taking a horse form, she gave birth to Ashwini-devatas. Kaśyapa’s wife Aditi’s sons are 12 Devatas including Indra. The youngest is Vishnu.
    These are the 33 Gods: 8 Vasus, 11 Rudras, 12 Adityas, Prajapati & Vaśatkāra. Listen to their Paksha, Guna and Kula.
    Rudras, Sādhyas, Maruts, Vasus are different Ganas. Bhargavas & Viswadevas are different. Garuda, Aruna, Brihaspati belong to āditya gana. Aswinis, all herbs, animals belong to Guhyaka paksha.
    Due to glorifying them, the human being is freed from all sins.
    From Brahma’s heart came Bhrigu. His son was Kavi. His son Shukra became a planet & for the protection of the 3 worlds creates excess rain, scanty rain, fear & fearlessness. This yogi is Guru for demons. In the form of Brihaspati, he himself is Guru for Devatas.
    Bhrigu’s another son Cyavana married Āruśi. From her thigh, Oruva was born. His son was Rucika; Rucika’s son Jamadagni had 4 sons. The youngest Parasurama ended the Kshatriyas. Oruva had 100 sons who had 1000 sons. Thus, Bhrigu lineage filled the earth.
    Brahma’s sons Dhata & Vidhata take care of the birth & sustenance of beings. They live with Manu. Their sister Lakshmi has the sky-flying horses as mindborn sons.
    Varuna begot Bala and Sura. During famine when people were killing one another, adharma, who destroys everyone, was born. His sons were Nairuta demons. Fear, terror and Mrtyu, who takes away life, are their sons.
    Among Trama’s daughters Kāki gave birth to owls; Syeni to hawks; Phāsi to animals & eagles. Drtarashtri to swans & chakravakas; Śuki to parrots.
    Among Krodhavasa’s daughters Mrigi gave birth to deer; Mrigamanda to bears; Bhadramana to elephant Airavata; Hari to horses, vanaras & monkeys; Śārduli to lions, tigers; Mātangi to elephant; Sweta to white elephant; Surabhi to daughters Rohini & Gandharvi; Surasa to Kanka bird.
    Rohini’s daughters were Vimala & Anala. Rohini gave birth to cows; Gāndharvi to horses; Anala to Śuki; Aruna’s wife Syeni to Sampāti and Jatāyu; Surasa to Nagas, Kadru & snakes.
    Among Surasa’s other daughters, Anala’s progeny is Vanaspati (parthenocarpic trees); flowering plants are Ruha’s progeny; creepers are Virudha’s progeny.
    The person who hears this description will be freed from sins; obtains omniscience and in future will obtain higher states.
