It happens to all big punchers, on the way up they can stop all opponents, then they reach a level of opponent that is hard to hit and fights back with their own accurate punches. Then the puncher, if he has no other abilities, is in trouble, in part because they didn't learn much on the way up knocking people out in a few rounds. Also once the big puncher is beaten and no longer seen as invincible opponents draw confidence from this and see a way to out box and outwit them.

A prime chucks beats ortiz 100 times out of 100 and he dominated the first two fights, he fought ortiz a third time after aging out and barely threw, looked timid and got destroyed. That is what wilder is now. Wilder has an iq of 10 and is racist, cant stand him but this version of wilder is not wilder of old. Wilder used to throw no matter the danger he was in. This old guy was scared from the jump. Fury 3 finished his career, it just took awhile to register.

Dubois, zhang and joshua appear to be the mix.
Zhang and joshua should fight for the right to meet usyk and if usyk retires then the winner could face dubois for another undisputed clash.

Looked bad. Off balanced right hand. Buddy did his job. Stalked him and that right hook was devastating. I'm glad Wilder is retiring. He hasn't been the same since fighting Fury.

He’s 100% correct. Holyfield did same with Tyson. Backed him up and kept him off balance. I still have never seen smaller legs for a heavyweight. Atlas is correct, it’s pretty amazing Wilder has won a world title, he’s got some serious flaws. Tough guy though with power.

I agree with Teddy but let's not forget that Wilder has fought mainly Elite Opponents for the past few years, Fury . . . Parker . . . Zhang etc. . . .
All these guys are Elite Level and yes Wilder has come up short but you have to give him credit for backing himself and not shying away from Any challenge out there for he truly has believed in and tested his own limits to the max.
But No, Wilder is not done just yet in my opinion . . . he needs to step back now, reflect properly on recent setbacks . . . look at what originally brought him his big success on the World Stage and maybe reorientate his training based around that main strength he possessed for getting opponents out of there by KO . . . Boxing Skill and Finesse is all well and good but not when it sacrifices your main strength of Winning . . . In The Sport of Boxing Winning is Everything.

What is sad Mr Atlas is that unlike other walks of life, when a career ends in Boxing they take a brutal, debilitating beating that forces them to retire. Most fighters don't retire when it's time, they wait until they are beaten into retirement, and often wear the effects of those last few unnecessary beatings permanetly.

All the best to Wilder .. he has a great story that would make a great movie .. gave us some great fights with fury ... and some explosive knockouts , all be it in a weak era .. but he still had to do it ... i hope he enjoys retirement now and stays involved in boxing somehow

Wilder is done but that being said the 70 pound weight advantage for Zhang is huge! They need a new class for these huge heavyweights. Why is 2-3 pounds such a big advantage for the other weight classes yet heavyweights are judge different. Wilder and Zhang are in two different weight classes

Wilder was a different animal before fury..he was vicious, fearless and he didnt worry about loosing rounds because,he always found a home for that right hand but after being stopped by fury 2x it took a toll on him mentally and ots showing his last 2 fights...hes timid and hes not letting his hands go..its like hes gun shy, shell shocked and hes not comfortable anymore ...its definitely time to hang it up,hes a shell of his former self
