Rewarding yourself= I deserve it= what's wrong with a little pampering? I give so much to everyone else?
I went through this a little bit before I retired. My husband is still in this mode somewhat. And he thinks talking about money makes him feel dirty.but he's worked through it and we try harder to budget now. It is dangerous if you can't reign it in. Someone suggested to me to give a budget for goodies, EACH.
150$-500$. (Whatever suits your budget) my husband I both tried to live within that for personal spending money. When it gets close to payday, we had a specific area with one sheet of paper. If there were extras you wanted that could wait, you list them there. As the new pay period starts around, you may both agree on this item. Then we put it on layaway and save. We still allow ourselves credit card purchases for xyz and stick to it.

This was the saddest episode of anything that I have ever seen. It shows a deterioration of the soul. Nothing was funny, because all I could feel was the pain of the little boy. He knows that he is not wanted.
Just the thought of buying all of that food and jewelry before taking care of their son made me ill. I kept watching because sometimes I learn a lot from other people. I actually think they deserve one another
In some strange awful way. I have never thought that about anyone.

If I had a small kitchen like that I would also use the table where we eat to help prep the food and take it to the kitchen to cook it. It’s pretty easy then just to wipe off the table and eat dinner. I do believe these people are somewhat lazy Or they are not able to think outside the box because if people can cook when they’re camping in an Rv they can cook in that apartment. And not have the baby at home? Oh God the thought of not having my child with me would crush me.

This show is Canadian, their $140k CAD household income is equivalent to $104k USD. In today’s dollars it would be like having a household income of around $152k USD a year. I make close to $250k USD annually and I live comfortably in a luxury townhouse. A palace (I’m assuming a large multi-million dollar home) would require much more money than what I even make. You’d need a household income of at least 500k and a large down payment of around 400-500k to even afford a “palace”. And that is just to even be taken seriously. If you want to afford it comfortably you’d likely need a household income closer to 700k - 1M+ a year.

I stayed home. We cooked from scratch. Did DIY. Used state parks, libraries, nature trails, community and church programs.
