If memory serves correct, this was one of the first years that Destry Balch became the new director for Kingwood. Larry Ward the designer and instigator of the Kingwood program had parted for East Texas to become the director at Athens High School. It would be only the next year when Larry would return to Humble ISD to become the new director for the newly opened Atascocita High School. Larry is one of the most unrecognized directors in Texas for attaining a consistent standard of musical excellence at every assignment encountered.
@Letterbomb011 Huntsville, I'm pretty sure that your band director was a member of the Texas Aggie band...and he went to Kingwood High School in the 80's.
Being part of a corps band in south east Texas, I'm glad to see a military band at the Rose Bowl Parade because besides Texas and maybe a few other parts of the country, no one has really heard of military marching bands besides Texas A&M and there's one in Virginia i believe. They might not have the excitement as corps or show but i'd rather see a clean crisp military band than a crappy corps or show band.
For future reference it's a "drill" not a field show. I understand you don't know that because in California that is what it's called! We have 8 bands converting to military style next year!

Actually 2006 was the year after Ward left Athens, and started at Atascocita for the first time.

rocketfan86 Virgina Tech Highty Tighties. West Virginia has 2 high school bands that are military, one being 6 to 5, and the other 8 to 5.
@zackpoling wahama is no longer military. They still March 6-5 though
@lovelytsn702 good thing the band you were in was there too right? oh wait.... by the way, Kingwood had the loudest ovation from both sides.
