What was losely mentioned but couldn't be stated enough is that the inclusion of full Traktor Pro 4 software priced at €150,- makes this package an absolute steal. Especially because Traktor, unlike most DJ software nowadays, is subscription-free, which is a godsend.
@@Drrolfski tp4 is bloated , slow and unstable, i cant use it for work. For existing traktor users upgrade price is 50€. . The conteoller would be worth the price if it had a in build sound card but it does not and ni does not sell dedicated dj sound cards anymore..
@@andersistbesser Traktor is fine for professional use. Many top DJs have proven this literally for decades and I've personally never run into any significant stability or performance problems. And what you call bloated others call customizable which allows for all kinds of midi/macro mappable hardware setups that you simply see not with other DJ software. The unit was deliberately designed to plug in to a club mixer (live setup) or soundcard (home/studio). And you can disagree with that but for these specific scenarios, it's excellent value. Btw a Traktor 4 upgrade costs €74,50 so yes, this is a good deal in general.
@ well i am a working pro dj since 1999. i am not a star who has 300 tracks in his stage collegtion or plays a pre recorded set. I have over 75.000 tracks in my collection and traktor cant handle it. T4 takes over 2! Minutes to shut down. And it takes one minute to start up with my big collection. The old tpro version 2 took 30 seconds to start up or shut down with the same collection , same hardware and this already was painfully slow compared to virtual dj which starts up and shuts down immediately. Traktor search also is painfully slow. T4 indeed is very very unstable and it failed me so often that i had to switch back to my old traktor as i cant trust it for paid work in any way .my old version was not unstable at all. I use x1 since it came out and i use a dedicated dj sound card from ni wchich does not work anymore so i have tro replace it but ni does not offer a dj card in 2024.. This is a big big fail. And no i dont use the club mixers soundcard, you never know in which condition it is and you cant play b to b with another laptop dj as mixers usually only have one slot. I am a rea life pro who plays everything from clubs , to bars , big or small events. and i tell you t4 and ni in general is no longer the best choice for professional dj work. The current ni dj setup looks like its aimed to bedroomers who like to mess around with stems and other things real djs never use. So from this point of view i understand why they dont even sell essentials like a dj card anymore but hey they got fancy toys with flashy lights on it..🤪🤪
I used the mk2 for over 3 years for my mixed music nights in clubs. Loved the ease of plugging into any mixer and just getting started. best introduction to DJing for its low price
Quality is bang on, amazing starting point for anyone looking to start on their journey. Add a Z1 Mk.2 and it all fits in a very small bag too. Just need a new F1 Mk.3 and I'll be very happy. I started out with Traktor 2, tried all the others but came back to Traktor with the S4 Mk.3. Traktor is just so logical for me and the fact that it's not subscription is brilliant. The X1 and Z1 make fine ultra portable tools on their own but can also double as a backup to my S4. Hats off to Native Instruments for their latest offerings. Good review Jamie, covered all the features in a well paced video 😀
I had the old X1, Z1 and F1 and loved using them. Traktor was my first DJ software, though these controllers found new life when used with Virtual DJ. VDJ has been my go-to because of their implementation of STEMS, their out of the box support for Video and the customizability and versatility to be able to route sound through any audio device or a number of devices and support virtually every controller under the sun. I bought the X1 Mk3 and just got the Z1 Mk2 due to relatively low price of entry and apparent quality to see if I should try to dabble back in Traktor. My reasoning was that even if I still didn't like Traktor, I could use the controllers with VDJ at smaller gigs. While VDJ did not initially have Z1 Mk2 support, they have since added it and it works fine similar to how it would work in Traktor. I've been wanting to go back to Traktor to see the improved features including the variable beat grid and their implementation of STEMS (it's ironic that they were the first to integrate STEMS into their software almost 10 years ago yet fell behind in the past 6+ years). I can't say that I am using it yet for live gigs. I stream with Virtual DJ, Serato and Rekordbox since they all support my XDJ-XZ and all pretty seamlessly support the Pioneer CDJs and Mixers at the clubs, but I plan to do a stream with the Z1/X1 combo using Traktor. We'll see how that goes, though it would make sense to also use it with my S8 that's collecting dust.
Traktor needs to make a standalone unit that can run its software without a computer. The S5 was so close to being there with its waveform displays and intuitive menus. It was also built like a tank. If they made a more compact standalone version of the S5 that I could fit in my backpack I'd pay big money for it.
I don’t understand the point of it. It doesn’t have a specialist use that it does better than a conventional DJ setup, and the normal DJ functions it has are more difficult and counterintuitive than a normal setup. I can’t preview my tracks in my headphones? I have to scroll through tiny screens and menus to select my effects? Why reinvent the wheel?
it's meant to be used either as an ultracompact 2 players replacement or augment a turntable/CDJ in HID with proper controls for loops cuepoints and FX. You can add multiple and get a 4 deck layout or even more if you want to designate some kind of a special role in your setup with custom mappings. IMHO it's a swiss army knife, use it however you want.
I bought one at the beginning of the month, they told me that they don't have stock, I contacted support they told me they take 2 weeks, I asked for the cancellation and they don't give me an answer. The official support of native instruments is terrible. The review is good. But I wanted to share my bad experience with Native Instruments so that it doesn't happen to someone else.
Hello! I have a ddj flx10 and a traktor x1 mk3. If i connect the flx10 and the x1 at the same time to rekordbox the x1 doesnt work, the only button lighting up is the one with three lines at the top. How can i connect both of theese so i can use the x1 to control decks 3 and 4 from the flx10?
in Canada you can buy 3 of these for the price of the Mixtour Pro. Or you can buy one z1 and 2 x1s. I prefer Djay Pro myself but Reloop really priced themselves out there (even more than usual0
Mixtour Pro FX Control really sucks. I tried one but returned it. With the DJ Pro software it had all kind of silly issues, to correct it through Midi-Mapping I needed a subscription. Using it with Traktor Pro I really noticed the FX Control section not at all useful for use with Traktor..
It's a great modular platform for mobile DJ's who travel (via airplanes). But when you think about how you would connect to a PA system, that's when it starts to get complicated. For me, I just carry the Traktor Kontrol S5, or a Komplete Audio 6 interface and the F1 controller. Either way, I still really enjoy this little controller.
