Hi Ryan, you have one of the best astro channels out there right now! Great authoritative and enthusiastic style and a way of talking through complex processes and offering practical advice on such a range of topics. I’ve learnt so much from you on my journey back in to astro-imaging. Keep up the great work. Many thanks!
Thank you so much! I have some newer processing videos since this one that you may want to check out as you know, the steps are always evolving, but I put out a 2024 Pixinsight one and a Photoshop color tutorial. I really really appreciate the kind words. Glad to have you as a part of the channel.
Music to my ears that’s the goal. Glad to hear the execution was helpful! PowerPoint was way better to use on my end versus excel as well, so seems to be better for everybody! Just trial and error as we go, always looking to get a little better 💪🏼
I never have luck reserving campsites by looking at pictures on the website. There are always trees in the way. I always drive around the campground and map out the sites that are good astronomy for future reference. You also have to take into account the lights on the shower houses .
Glad to have another fearless adventurer on the channel! Yeah I didn’t show about 15 minutes of lapping the campground in the video lol. Definitely been there before. Yeah not only the shower area but just a random pole light that’s super bright in communal areas luckily didn’t have any of that. After you do a handful of these trips you just realize they’ll workout you just have to be flexible
Need to have you on as a guest star to show your OSC false Hubble pallet. I was going to do that as a separate video I think it’s more of a level 2 guide
Thanks so much for this video Ryan, the image looks awesome. I like both images, the colours on the photoshop image I prefer but I still like the more natural look as well Cheers Si
Thank you! With galaxies I like both too it’s all personal preference really. I think you can definitely overdo it but hopefully it doesn’t look like it in this case
@@darkrangersinc I’m yet to capture a galaxy myself but I like the look of both. Going to see when Andromeda is highest in the North as I’m a southern hemisphere dude and then have a crack. Cheers Si
Thank you I haven’t always had the best luck in the past but with the scripts that are out nowadays it’s not too bad. In the past I would just take the Ha layer in PS colorize it and try different blend modes it worked ok but very manual to get it perfect. Lots of color selection to create masks for specific colors but excluding others. Now just a few clicks and boom it’s done!
A great all around video Ryan. I agree, there's nothing like a dark sky site. I have to drive 4.5 hours to get to a bortle 2 sky, but it's worth the drive. I do visual and astrophotography. While my 2 scopes are collecting data (images) I'm looking through my 16" DOB at all kinds of objects. Thanks for all you do for the astro community.. I want to try your processing guide. CS.
I can respect and appreciate that my friend! To get legit undeniable B1 when I’m in Arizona I have to drive 4-5 hours to Gila National Forest but I have B2 all around however it’s worth the extra 2.5 hours even to go from B2 to B1 imo but anything B3 or better is great. But when there’s no light dome even showing up with a wide angle lens and long exposures that’s amazing. Even parts of Death Valley show the light dome of Las Vegas which is why I make the much longer trek to the Eureka dunes portion which blocks it by the mount and adds another 50-60 miles from the main section.
Yeah, me too, I appreciate it but I see a lot of comments on the Pixinsight Facebook with a Andromeda that look more “natural” and I see that complement a lot, so I figured I would give both options.
I do have a photo shop video. It doesn’t have every thing that I do but it does have several techniques and will help you get a little bit better results than just a Pixinsite. I find sliders a lot easier than curves, especially when it’s broken down by every single color so you don’t have to try to tweak a single curve across the entire color spectrum.
@@carvrodrigo what do you mean by “manually put those addresses”? The links to his site to download are the same as he has in his video that he put out a few weeks ago which are also in my video on just the star reduction scripts but it doesn’t look like his site is working so I sent him a note on IG.
@@carvrodrigo ahhh yeah, I got you, I’m not one to “pass the buck” but the links are correct on my end it’s something only he can fix. If you can do the same if you check again I would appreciate it

Super excited to try the processing guide. New to Pixlnsight, but learning so much from your content.
I updated the link yesterday, so double check to make sure it has the color guide in there as well as the Narrow band
