As a 54 year old you are spot on! These dolls hit hard with the memories I have playing with the originals. My fondest memories are of Golden Dream Christie (back then I renamed her “Brandy” and black Barbie who I renamed (Juanita). I only have one correction, it would be the “grandmothers” purchasing these tribute dolls for their grandchildren. 😂😂😂😂😂😂😂
To me these dolls give more of a “past dolls incorporated in everyday clothing” vibe so I don’t think people should be so mad that they look different or downgraded to the past ones

Omg I love miniatures and I'm so excited for the Mini Barbie Land 😍 I'm definitely going to purchase it as soon as I can get my hands on it. I'm obsessed with miniatures and I have been collecting MGA Make it mini foods diner/cafe, lifestyle, holiday, halloween, valentines, spring series and bought the mini kitchen set. The mini Bratz and LOL dolls as well. It's just so adorable. I'm so glad Mattel finally made a mini Barbie which is not part of the World's smallest series. I have a few of the World's smallest Barbie but it's not mini enough for me. 😅
The inspiration part is fun but please do more.... A bit more articulation, accessories, better faces.. We want to spend more on good dolls!! Love the blue haired girl, still not sure which face she has ( Violet or Daya?) But the rest... Mehhh Looove the mini dolls, they are a must have for sure 💜💜

I had the #1 Barbie at age four. She came out the same year my younger sister was born 1959. So my mother got it for me in 1960. I love Barbie. I always have. So watching your channel is inspiring and gives me warm happy feelings. I enjoy your enthusiasm and knowledge, and appreciate your research and dedication to this beautiful icon. I enjoy many points you covered today. And yes, i agree with you on many issues as well. They could have done better with the new line up of fashionistas to represent those from the past. I'm not mad, I'm not mad, it's a nod to the Barbie Legends that we had the pleasure to own, play and collect, my faves The Totally Hair off course. The minis meh, they alright good to have as part of a display, doll rooms, dioramas and houses, but that plastic could be used for better accessories 😂 and joints! But we get what we get with Mattel nowadays they lost the essence of that Beautiful iconic doll we all love! Thanks for another great fun informative video 🤗✌💙✌👋
The original inspiration dolls are vintage enough I think we are talking about grandmothers buying the new dolls for their grandchildren! Other than Totally Hair line, which millennial kids would have played with, many of these are boomer & gen x childhood memories. I like the tour through the decades though!
The only one I have bought so far is the Great Shape tribute from 1984. I may also get the cute Golden Dream tribute doll. They really do bring back great memories.

To be honest Id say Quick Curl, Golden dreams, First black barbie are the only ones that are spot on I mean they pale in comparison to the OG but you can tell straight away which dolls they took inspirations from
I heard another UA-camr say (sorry I don’t remember who since I follow so many) these dolls are Barbie bounding, kinda like Disney ily dolls are Disney bounding in their character representation, and I feel like that makes so much sense because most of these fashionistas are just not quite there with their fashion style, but you can see a little bit where they’re going with the look after someone explains it to you ☺️💖☺️

Hey! I know her eye got real wonky as she aged, but I loved my western Barbie! She was super cute new and the winky eye was fun! Lol! I do want the golden dreams inspired doll and maybe a couple others. I was so not doing any more fashionistas but a couple of these really grabbed my imagination. I remember so many of the inspiration dolls since I was born in 1974. And those minis! I need some of those for my dioramas! I'm sad pretty n pink Barbie didn't get chosen for a repro but I hope she gets one eventually. That would be the one I would definitely put aside money for. She was my favorite doll I had growing up.

I didn't know about the Christie vote. Now I'm sad because I wanted a new in box Pink & Pretty Christie since I first learned about her a few years ago but I don't want to pay ebay prices. I think the Totally Hair Ken could have been rooted since we've already gotten a few rooted Ken fashionistas already.
Actually the Barbie and The Rocker is the best of the ones i have seen in person. She has a pretty face and a face mold they don't use to often. Will probably get her when she goes clearance. I like using Fashionistas as models for my extra outfits.
With the totally hair Ken I think they should’ve given him long rooted hair. They’ve done it before with a Ken Fashionista and a Looks Ken so this was a missed opportunity.
I TOTALLY agree with you! It would be unfair and needless to compare these Fashionistas with the dolls they're inspired by! We're talking about completely different Barbie eras here PLUS they're not supposed to be reproductions of the originals!! I personally like these modern versions and I'm planning on getting most of them! As you mentioned, they're a nice introduction for the younger generations to Barbie's golden decades and they also create a nostalgia feeling for the older ones! 👍🏻💖

@@Barbination Yes, but it wasn’t as strong as it was on the fruit scent series. And after rerooting and washing and boiling and all of that I can’t really smell the grape anymore.

The second wave is definitely better than the first wave. They did a bad job on The Rockers, Peaches, and Twist and Turn. My favorites are Golden Dream and Totally Hair. I may get a few and set them beside the originals.
I mean if i were to get some of these fashonista dolls.. id get the totally hair and the golden one. I'm not into the fashionista scene anymore. I like the OG original fashionistas. Like i stopped collecting htem after like 150. Plus most ppl these days just rebody teh fashionistas anyways. (thats what i plan on doing with the 2 dolls) yet the golden barbie her outfit looks cheap and i hope it isnt. I do wish the totally hair doll hair was a bit longer but i am glad that its crimped
I think, in trying to stay in a price point that a parent will pay for their kids, these are great. Some of them will get hair cuts and make up. And look like weird Barbie one day. My 6 year old granddaughter will cut hair with scissors in a heartbeat if I don't watch her close!
Overall, the fashionistas are cute but that tnt Barbie was... disappointing. I had the first tnt as a child and she was so beautiful and edgy with her vinyl bikini and mesh cover up. The fashionista version looks like she just rolled out of bed.☹️
The Fashionistas have the most inappropriate line name. They should be called "EveryBarbie" or something inclusive that parents and kids will understand.

Gosh Arjen, you are way too nice to Mattel. Playline dolls use to be so amazing, but now the dollar store is able to compete with Barbie. 😑 I think we should be hard on these dolls because these dolls aren't fun to play with. They have no fashion. 🥲The dolls they are "inspired" by are playline dolls that were more in the mid price range. There were budget Barbies in the 90's too. That's a better comparison to the Fashionistas. Surely Mattel can make a $20~$30 playline doll with actual fashion sense. I see no reason why they can't make something between collector dolls and bargain bin dolls. Something that'll amaze children these days like how Barbie amazed many of us when we were children. I want to see themes, sparkle, and details! Until then, I'll just stick to the occasional collector Barbie and spend my time and money on other doll brands or Barbies from the past.

I TOTALLY agree with you! It would be unfair and needless to compare these Fashionistas with the dolls they're inspired by! We're talking about completely different Barbie eras here PLUS they're not supposed to be reproductions of the originals!! I personally like these modern versions and I'm planning on getting most of them! As you mentioned, they're a nice introduction for the younger generations to Barbie's golden decades and they also create a nostalgia feeling for the older ones! 👍🏻💖

I got the grape pop reveal doll, and her hair was really good quality. Might have been Saran. I got her to reroot her.

@@Barbination Yes, but it wasn’t as strong as it was on the fruit scent series. And after rerooting and washing and boiling and all of that I can’t really smell the grape anymore.
@@Barbination Also after a boil wash, she lost the grape face tattoo. The color change deal. It won’t come back even when I put ice directly on it. Which for me is a good thing.

The second wave is definitely better than the first wave. They did a bad job on The Rockers, Peaches, and Twist and Turn. My favorites are Golden Dream and Totally Hair. I may get a few and set them beside the originals.

I mean if i were to get some of these fashonista dolls.. id get the totally hair and the golden one. I'm not into the fashionista scene anymore. I like the OG original fashionistas. Like i stopped collecting htem after like 150. Plus most ppl these days just rebody teh fashionistas anyways. (thats what i plan on doing with the 2 dolls) yet the golden barbie her outfit looks cheap and i hope it isnt. I do wish the totally hair doll hair was a bit longer but i am glad that its crimped

I think, in trying to stay in a price point that a parent will pay for their kids, these are great. Some of them will get hair cuts and make up. And look like weird Barbie one day. My 6 year old granddaughter will cut hair with scissors in a heartbeat if I don't watch her close!

Overall, the fashionistas are cute but that tnt Barbie was... disappointing. I had the first tnt as a child and she was so beautiful and edgy with her vinyl bikini and mesh cover up. The fashionista version looks like she just rolled out of bed.☹️

Playline dolls use to be so amazing, but now the dollar store is able to compete with Barbie. 😑 I think we should be hard on these dolls because these dolls aren't fun to play with. They have no fashion. 🥲The dolls they are "inspired" by are playline dolls that were more in the mid price range. There were budget Barbies in the 90's too. That's a better comparison to the Fashionistas. Surely Mattel can make a $20~$30 playline doll with actual fashion sense. I see no reason why they can't make something between collector dolls and bargain bin dolls. Something that'll amaze children these days like how Barbie amazed many of us when we were children. I want to see themes, sparkle, and details!
Until then, I'll just stick to the occasional collector Barbie and spend my time and money on other doll brands or Barbies from the past.
