I don't know if it's heart-warming or gut-wrenching that the same British Nirvana that sued American Nirvana covered one of American Nirvana's songs after Cobain's death.
It was recorded before Kurt’s suicide, they were plotting a tribute album called “nirvana sings nirvana” and aborted it as soon as they got word of Kurt’s death….I guess they released this as a tribute
Pinching this somewhat insightful bit of info from the wiki page: According to the (UK) band's official website, this (song) was intended as part of a tongue-in-cheek album called Nirvana Sings Nirvana that was aborted when lead singer Kurt Cobain died. When the recording was presented on the Orange and Blue album, Campbell-Lyons's liner notes treated it seriously and with allusion to Heathcliff from Wuthering Heights. Also according to the website, the band still wanted to open for Hole even after Cobain's death.
In fairness, the court case came about because Kurt Cobain was pissed someone else had used the Nirvana name before he did, and he wanted the UK band to put a disclaimer on the name, which the UK band (rightly) were unwilling to do... However, Krist Novoselic and Dave Grohl are actually admitted fans of the original Nirvana
@@thomasbarbour384 It is a pop song from the conceptual point of view because it is melodic and catchy due to its structure and it was also a hit of the pop genre such as alternative rock or grunge.
Was playing through a Nirvana playlist on Apple music and it played, Saddest day of my life. I was so confused. I knew it wasn't the Nirvana I knew of, but it is the Nirvana I needed! I feel complete 😄💛
This was part of a court settlement of a copyright infringement case brought by the original Nirvana british band of the late 60s against Nirvana of the 90s. American Nirvana kept name, but allowed Nirvana UK to also keep name & record a few of their songs.
@Craig Rasmussen There was no court action? These hippies gave permission and/or didn't care that a completely unrelated band in another country was using the name.
This would have been great without the synths. The vocals are great. I love British Nirvana’s 60’s albums, but they should have arranged this differently.
Apparently they recorded it before he died but didn't release it till after (they considered doing a full cover album but as soon as Kurt died they killed that project).
@Leon-Recoils19912 of course it doesn't... Its a "joke" cover, meant in an ironic, tongue-in-cheek way.... The irony went over some people's heads though, it seems
@@linusfriissigurd5796 Technically this is the original Nirvana. In fact, this is a psychedelic rock band from the UK, formed in the middle 60's. they broke up the activities in the 70's, but came back in the 80's. I even heard that they tried to sue the american nirvana when it started to make success. But it seems that it came to nothing, because, as you can see, they made a cover of lithium

It’s like a late apology
the out of court settlement was for $2000. I'm sure Kurt and co. would have been stoked.

David Bowie - Lithium
Nice pfp
It's very similar.
This sounds like the intro to an afternoon BBC show on telly
Do you like the original Nirvana version of Lithium or the cover by Nirvana more?
Original, but the opening makes me feel like I found God. It is what I imagine afterlifes sounds like.
I prefer the Nirvana version.
original when i'm alone and the cover in party .
i think they used the uk version in the documental ¨montage of heck¨
I like Both!
The Original Nirvana (progress rock, psychedelic band) from the U.K. Covers Kurbains Nirvana from Seattle !
I prefer Nirvana over Nirvana, but hey... that's me.

yay this is back on youtube again
If only we got the full release of all the covers.
something about this sounds right. it sounds psychedelic enough to just bArely pass as some run of the mill 70s track
The synths sound a bit too modern though.
This is so amazing like candy apples for the ears
It sounded like 80s jingle sounds, like if Nirvana existed in the 80s but only pop rock or just pop music
Okay did this pop up on the 90s bands Nirvana account for like a day for y’all because like 3 of the 60s bands did
not bad its like a happy, calm nirvana
closer to the dictionary definition of nirvana
If the beatles did Nrvana
In late 60s..
If George Harrison duetted with Depeche Mode in 1983
Or David Bowie's response to Nirvana's cover of The Man who sold the world
спасибо этим шутникам из Nirvana UK

Lithium was always a great pop song
They actually sued Kurt cobain’s nirvana and then released this cover shortly after in spite of them. This is basically a diss track.

The techno Klaatu
So is this actually by Nirvana from the 1960s or is this something that someone made to mix both??
60s UK Nirvana covering 80s/90s Us Nirvana, done in the late 90s for a UK Nirvana boxset.
