the foreshadowing is honestly so hilarious and i was CACKLING editing it. editing the vlog where you cry over ur fave character is cheaper than therapy.
"this is all I ever wanted (...) thank u leigh bardugo, THANK YOU SO MUCH" me, who have already read the tragic outcome : poor girl, she's not ready for whats coming 🥺
🚨SPOILERS (KINDA) 1000% agree with every point you made I just finished today and gahhhh?????? I don’t know how to feel??? Like I loved it but I want more?? I want less? Idk what I want but I want better for Nina and a Zoyalai wedding or at least a peak into their life ruling together. The crows cameos were *chefs kiss* but I still want more of Inej on her ship 😌
Omg. I just finished this series a couple of weeks ago and I couldn't stop laughing at your reaction. And also the last criticism. Mayu's pov has some of my fav lines in the series. I think I felt it too with Issak in KoS. We just got so used to seeing these Kings, Generals and these really powerful people that sometimes we forget that there are normal people in this universe too. Mayu's pov was a reminder that there are Soldiers in war and there is a direct impact on the people (not that we didn't know that, but it was really focused here and it made the war scenes feel like there's more gravity to them). The Shu plot line of the story was important to follow because it shows signs of real peace for Ravka. With Princess Ehri and all the things she's been through, it gives us the hope that Ravka doesn't need to actually serve on temporary treaties and can actually hope to have good relations with other countries. And Nina's ending. I always thought it was interesting (also bittersweet cause I love Zoya and Nina and Genya together 💙). I think the day Matthias died, Nina Zenik died too. The scene in CK where she lays down with Matthias like a body, Nina lost a part of herself. And when we met her again, she was a different person (quite literally). Her being Queen is the best way for her to succeed in her mission. She obviously was already doing great with the whole Saints situation with the people, now she has more of a chance. This was her purpose and she's got to pay some price for it. And, even if Matthias didn't die that day, this is the exact ending I imagine for Nina. Cause she was going to come to Fjerda and change their minds, with Matthias. She'd have become Mila eventually and Matthias and her could be King and Queen, considering Matthias is a Druskelle and after Dragon Zoya, everyone thinks like him now. I agree that Hanne and Nina's relationship was rushed. I didn't really feel all that much. Thank you for reading my essay.
I just finished RoW but literally when I see David and genya, I associate them with you bc of how much you talk about them and when I read what happened to David, my literal first thought was “oh no Katie is gonna be devastated” 😭😭
rule of wolves spoilers ahead . . . . . . . david dying really did not make sense for me because it felt really off; like what you said if it was the cost of war then maybe 3 or 4 more significant characters could have died with him. a death is supposed to impact the characters in a way that the storyline would become more intact and powerful, david's just felt like for emotional impact and i was not living for it. the nina zenik thing i felt too; if nina's going to be queen and hanne as king then good for them (go you guys!) but i don't know how they're going to handle the pressure of the court and ruling, but maybe they'll figure it out along the way. i also do not like nina being tailored to look like a fjerdan, it's alright i guess but that's not the real her. but for your last critism, i kind of actually liked the different subplots and different povs happening in those subplots. there were things that had to be done that were happening in multiple places and i loved how they all fit within each other, if you get what im saying. nikolai and zoya's povs that stored the main battle and action and scheming and double crossing was so so fun. nina had her own things to fulfill for king nikolai and she'd done her job really really well and i loved it; i didn't like her chapters in kos because it didn't have much connection with the main plot but her chapters in row were really well done because all the knowledge nina collected from her mission were connecting with the main plot. mayu's chapters i think were justified because i loved what they did to double cross the queen and since they were trying to find the shu labs, it doubled as a rescue mission for her brother. i think that she deserved a voice about what was happening around her (given that she was a twin and that meant a whole lot; they even had a name for the bond) and her backstory was done really well, i think we were really showed what having a twin really meant as a shu. (also, i love tamar and i loved seeing her in mayu's pov). what i didn't like too much tho, was the darklings', it had a really strong voice and such but i did not care about the starless cult. aleksander's povs were kind of a bore to read. i still rated this book 5 stars though, i loved all the plot twists (both major and minor) that leigh implanted in the book. the writing was also really amazing. i wish it could have had a more conclusive ending (like soc or s&b) than the set-up for soc3, but i still really really really enjoyed how it ended.
i think if david had been in a coma or paralyzed or something it would've had the same effect AND we could've seen how that effects their opinion on the bombs, i don't think i'll ever stop being mad about it.
@@katiecantread your criticism was totally on point especially about david. It felt out of place and uncalled for. It hurt and was not something expected. And I'm not sure Nina will be completely happy with those features. I agree with all your criticisms. But it still is a brilliant book nonetheless
@@sanakasingh9317 oh i enjoyed the book SO much, but i feel like david's impact would've been more powerful if he hadn't died (ESPECIALLY OFF PAGE) like an injury or kidnapping would've been more powerful to the characters and more interesting to readers, but i'm also not bitter :) and yeah nina being tailored doesn't sit right with me
@@katiecantread Spoilers I thought at first David was also going to be just kidnapped. When it came back to the chapter, with them, and we found out he was dead, I started bawling my eyes out. While he wasn't my absolute favorite character, I did really love him. And Genya losing the love of her life and after having their lovely wedding on the pages, that was way too much. Him being kidnapped or missing for a little bit, would have been so much better. And even make the story even better. And yes with Nina I just didn't think that her staying in that body was the right choice. I think they could have found a different way to get those 2 together. And if we get another Six of Crows book, how is it going to be the Six of Crows, without Nina. I still think the book is a favorite book of the year for me. But yes things could have made the book even better.
@@LorisBookTrials in my month of thinking, his death seems so... reversible ya know? the fact that he died off page and the way they phrased it in a way that genya just can’t find him. it feels like this books is not the last time we’ll see him. it feels like leigh wanted to create a death that would hurt but that she could reverse in the future by revealing he was kidnapped and replaced with a tailored double or something along those lines. Genya most certainly deserves better and it makes me very upset to think about lol. and i’m interested to see how nina would play into six of crows 3 as well. she wouldn’t be on the heist but i firmly believe she’d be intel or something.
