Here are 12 other subtle differences between the remake of Mario vs. Donkey Kong for Nintendo Switch and the original classic for Game Boy Advance. There are a lot of differences in sound effects, animations, interactions, controls and level design.

For those wondering why the level at 3:12 was so heavily changed, it wa absolutely horrible in the original, especially if you wanted to get the star on it
One of the hardest stars in the game. Then section 2 is much easier but I tend to choke because section 1 is so difficult lol
Yeah I recently replayed the original and that stage was easily one of if not the toughest stars to get. Of course, they removed the need to go fast to get a star in this remake so if they had kept it the same it wouldn't have really mattered except for time attack mode, and even in TA mode you don't need to get the presents which was the hardest part to do fast.
It's worth noting that the uploader is playing the Japanese/European version of the GBA game, which in itself was already altered. The original American version of this stage is *really* unforgiving! That bit of floor in the middle doesn't even exist, so your only means of crossing the spikes is riding the moving platform.
Arguably the worst level in the game.
Later levels had you do some clever thinking, but this 4-3 forced you to play it perfectly if you want that star.
About that first one, in the Plus Worlds, Mario says "Good job, little guy !" when he leads the Mini to the door, while in the remake he also says nothing.
I liked that artwork on GBA :(
I think it was to further distance themselves from the cruelty against gorillas as well as lack of creativity but they also removed the plus world artworks as well.
This game is cool and all, but to make it more worth the price, they should have remade the original Donkey Kong game for GameBoy and brought in a level editor. That would be really neat. Maybe I am asking for too much. They did make 2 more worlds for this game and that is really cool.
Or just give a Level Editor to Mario vs Donkey Kong
The two new worlds fit so well.
I was very excited for the remake but I feel like it took away some of that "magic" :c

The intro to the game makes me believe Nintendo can make a great buddy cop like show with Mario and Donkey Kong interactions
It's helps in 0:29, since it's transitioned to the next section of the level.
The reason they cut out the voice for Mario opening the door was that it might get repetitive for some and the GBA just wanted to show how it can have voice acting in it.
That, or they don’t feel the new guy is up to snuff quite yet. It’s hard to emulate Martinet’s energy.

The subtle difference between the two is the money you paid 20 years ago for this game was a darker shade of green.

I was considering making a comparison video but you seem to have done a great job already. I'm not a fan of the changes to the bob-ombs. The sounds and the "BOMB!" text were removed.
Kind of feels like the soul was taken out of the remake.
There is a changed detail when Mario goes through the door. In the GBA version, Mario goes through the door with the key in his hands, but in the switch version, the key disappears before Mario goes through the door.
im sad they removed the coolest death in the game.

They're clearly using archived voice clips of Charles Martinet in the remake, but they seem to be making a point of using fewer of them? Is there some legal or financial reason for that?
No, they just chose not to make him as talkative as he was.

Neither are used; they completely removed it.
yes, the footage shown in this video is the European version of the GBA game.
Notice also how when Mario enters the Key Door, the remaining time is "sucked in" together with Mario, to then be added onto the time for the second half of the level. This little animation is something that the Japanese and European venison added, but it wasn't there in the original American one.

Even disagreements can be made in a much more polite way.

The remake feels sort of lackluster compared to the original version, especially the games difficulty
Not to mention the music, to me it feels really subdued. The remixes are alright but the originals really bring out the best of each level.

This is all the proof anyone needs to see how Nintendo has gotten increasingly more boring. All I want is to hear Mario say "Come back here, you big monkey" one more time :(
I'm sure there's a way to edit the footage so that Mario could say a few lines from the original. I was more upset about how they skipped Mario saying "Hey Donkey Kong, are you okay?" Which would make up for Mario laughing at DK earlier, since Mario didn't intend to laugh at DK out of malice; DK just didn't realize he lost all the Mini Marios, and the chase was all for nothing. In context of the new version of the cutscene, DK kidnapped them, because he realized they made the toys, so now they're imprisoned for possible slavery. Also, note that in the Cutscene for the Plus version, rather than 6 Mini Marios like in the original, the remake showed he has 5 toys left that's been stolen, indicating that neither of them would be the Mini Mario that our hero gave Donkey Kong.

I wonder why they removed so much charm and character from the game...
Everyone’s saying how this game doesn’t have the same charm as the original. And I can see why. Mario is not as talkative as he was in the original. And it’s not just this game. Most modern Mario games almost always reuses voice lines. I’m pretty sure there are more reasons why this game doesn’t have the same charm.

Outside of the disappointment of no level editor, the remake removes a lot of the "sauce" of the original. Aesthetically it feels like 3DW from Mario Maker rather than its own game.
Funny that you said that, because a lot of people thought the same thing from a visual perspective. I mean, it's not a bad thing, just that it's crazy that they made a remake of a GBA game, using the visual style of a Mario Maker game, but refused to include a built-in level editor. I do have good news, though, the Modding Community will make it a possibility.
