This is excellent 👌. You speak eloquently and demonstrate erudition over management as a practice. I learned a lot from your videos . Bless 🙌 you with unbounded success in your life.
In my workplace at the hospital in IT, performance reviews are useless. Decisions and merit increases are decided way before you actually have the review. We do our own review, then our managers do their review, 5 mos later, we actually sit down with mgmt and go over what they have already decided.
I know how and what involves in the performance review but my Manager doesn’t have a clue. They just want to impose and play their position. Sometimes I have to chase after them to have my performance review. I set my own personal and professional objective and fill out my achievements. And my Manager who cannot find what else to say keep on repeating for me yo carry out certain tasks to improve my performance for the past 2 years and I keep on telling her “I have bern doing that already. What else ?” I do get a raise every time but a generic one and never the one I deserved. It is so frustrating you have Managers not well trained but became manager by climbing the ladder on the job. And besides commanding around they don’t have any other skills as a Manager.
Dr. Grace, or company is small (under 15 employees), but with the boss and all employees overworked, we have never had performance reviews. How do you feel about a company that doesn't have these reviews, and do you recommended requesting a performance review in this case?

You very frequently use a "repetition" technique in your speaking e.g. at 6:16 "This is how you have contributed to the company's revenue, to their profit margins, to their growth, to their innovation, to their productivity, and their effectiveness in the industry" .. whereas you could have said, "This is how you have contributed to the company's revenue, profit margin, growth, innovation, productivity, and effectivess in the industry" This would be shorter, succinct and direct (less use of "to their" in this case) - in writing this would be much preferable as being much less verbose.. do you find in your research that executives (or people in general) are unable to hold the primary topics of a list when the list item descriptions are very short?
@@getchertified having heard this technique, I do agree that repetition can be effective in speaking, and yet there can be a level of use (especially with exact repetition) where it overly noticed by the listener and at that point, it can come off as burdensome and verbose.
Happy to see you here on my channel, Erin. I hope you did well on your recent performance review. You can watch my other videos for insights, advice, and tips on your career.
The biggest challenge I’ve had at multiple companies is actually getting your manager to DO the review. They stall every single time.
Im having half yearly review. This video comes at the right time.

Well, she's NOT writing. She's speaking. Repetition is more effective in speaking.
