I like your check list idea, instead of planning out exactly what each kid will do every single day. Even for older children who might be working completely independently. They can continue working on whatever subject they're interested in for as long as they want and then just tell you how far they got at the end of the day.
Yes, we're still using it as this year comes to a close. I'm using a different uber-customized planner for my own planning next year, but I am using Plum Paper planners for each of my student planners. Stay tuned for Planner Palooza videos next month and I'll share all the details!
I love your planner! Thanks for thoroughly explaining your checklist lesson number idea. I think that would work great for my homeschool planning as well.
It is so freeing! I still may block out some loose monthly goals, but not being tied to a daily/weekly calendar really opens our homeschool to play. Thanks so much for watching!
I really enjoyed this video, not only because I love planners and planning in my Plum Paper Planner, but also to be inspired by your goals and activities! You've given me some great ideas for next year. I so want to infuse our days with more enchantment.
I love the idea of mapping out the lessons. I have been working to create my own planner this year. I am definitely going to make a section like that. Thank you for sharing.
I absolutely love how you are using the checklist pages. I had made an excel sheet before for what is next, but I love having this right here in the planner!
Yes, I realized that I end up keeping track of much more if I have it all in one place. And I could never figure out a purpose for those grading sheets! Thanks for watching!
Right? My planner self has always loved their neatness, but I could never figure out a good use for them. I had tried habit tracking in the past, but it never lasted the course.
Aw, thanks! I think it’ll assuage the type-A-ness without tying us down to dates in a stress-inducing way. I’m using a blank bujo for our record-keeping. One for each child.
Deep in the thick of homeschool planning and prep over here. I ❤️ a good homeschool planner! Continuing to love your channel. Thanks for sharing Tanya!
That’s been on of our greatest successes with homeschooling. I think giving them the joy of communicating while (unknowingly) practicing writing and creative expression is a happy byproduct.
That’s an awesome idea for those grading pages to keep track of your yearly progress with each curricula :o I also love the notes pages. I’m going to have to look into that planner or make my own pages lol. Thanks for the video!
Thank you for this video! I really like the way you mapped out everything without dates. I might have to try that next year. Also, maybe you could circle the dots on the attendance page to keep it looking pretty.
Thanks for the idea - but I'm a terrible circler. :( Maybe I could just put tiny "x's" in them. Or just highlight through the dates we school? See, you can tell I have planner issues, lol!
Hi Tanya, How do you combine TGTB curriculum with the All About Reading? Can you give me a time example, for instance, 9:00 - 9:20 is AAR level 1, after lunch is TGTB. Trying to figure out how to combine both.
I don’t have a set plan for how I use the resources. I like to see how my kid is leaning for the day, and how she reacts when I suggest that resource. In general, I may use one curricula during language arts for a few days and then switch back and forth. If I don’t think she needs a particular lesson, I’ll skip it entirely. 🙂
I like how you mapped out your lessons by pages to get a glance of their progress, I'm gonna steal that idea for my checklist area in my planner😉 yes, we will definitely to this series every summer. I love seeing what you do and get some new fresh ideas!!! I know I have excel sheets 😜 and plan in my planner, a little over kill but sometimes when I repeat my ideas on paper and the computer it seems to sink deeper into my head of what I want to achieve for the new school year.🤯
I need to do something like you do in terms of curriculum mapping - this year, I'm going to attempt that for the first time with my plan to combine Torchlight and Build Your Library. I'll be calling you with my Excel questions, lol!
I love how used the checklist pages for your long-term planning. I struggled with how to use those, this is perfect! Great ideas, as usual! All about that coffee shop school!
Awesome details. I am really new to using planners. Never did in my life. I am finding them really helpful after looking at your videos. I plan to learn and implement it for my daughter. Thanks for doing these. Can you please help me how you plan for science and history since I believe you aren’t following a curriculum?
Actually, I am planning on using Torchlight and Build Your Library for history next year. I think a great way of going about it at the elementary level is to get a great history spine, like Usborne's History of the World, and reading through it chronologically while supplementing with books from the library (both fiction and nonfiction) for each time period. Build Your Library is a great secular option, and the curriculum guide is very affordable. I'll be doing a review video on both curricula soon, in addition to how I plan to combine them. Good luck!
I found a template from another curriculum that's very similar to Project Happy Home's style of tracking. file:///C:/Users/abjo1/Documents/AB/EP%20PLACEMENT%20GUIDES%20for%20all%20Subjects/tracker-supplemental-subjects-any-level.pdf
Love the long term planning :) what a great way to keep track without stressing about the days! 😁 Question-Do you plan on homeschooling through middle and high school? (I know that's way ahead just curious) Second question-will you be doing a room tour?
I'm not sure, honestly - I don't know how my career goals will evolve or how my kids' personalities/needs will shift as they grow older. Next year, G8 will be doing a blended homeschool model where he attends a small school on Monday and Wednesday as part of their normal class. If that works out for our family, I would love to continue a blended homeschool model for all of the kids. I feel like it will afford me enough time to work the way I want to while also having ample close family time with the kids.
And, yes, I’ll do a room tour, when I finally get it in order. It’s still a bit of a disaster. I’m trying to cull things so that I can squeeze my old 2 rooms into one homeschool attic space. I really miss vertical walls. 😆
Off topic... but can you explain why you still do AAR and other language arts material while using The Good and the Beautiful? I ask because I’ve been using AAR with my 6 yr old. I recently discovered TGATB and want to try it for LA and I’m curious if I should continue on with AAR as well or if it will be too much?
Hi, Stefanie! I already had AAR for my son, but it was too basic for him when he was in 1st, so I saved it for N5. Moreover, I have heard from many folks that TGATB curriculum goes pretty swiftly (meaning you end mid-year) if you have a good reader. N5 likes worksheets and readers, so I’m betting that the combo will carry us for the year. 🙂

Yes, I think it’s a great way of minimal forward planning - and your idea to use it for kid planners is amazing!
Thank you so much. This was very helpful. I was looking for a way to plan without dates and you did it.
Yay - I'm happy to have helped in a small way. :)
Hi, Tanya! Just popping over to see if you still use this planner for homeschool.
Yes, we're still using it as this year comes to a close. I'm using a different uber-customized planner for my own planning next year, but I am using Plum Paper planners for each of my student planners. Stay tuned for Planner Palooza videos next month and I'll share all the details!
I love the qualifying statement that this works because of how you homeschool is physically organized. This such a huge help
I’m so glad!
I love this approach “completion is not the goal” so much freedom in this - which is what homeschooling is all about. Thank you for the great idea.
Thanks so much for watching!
Brilliant idea on how to use the checklist! 👏 Now I can actually use these sheets! 👍
Thanks so much taniya..you have made it so easy I'm definitely going to incorporate some of your ideas...
Yay! Happy it helped. Thanks for watching!

Great ideas on simplifying HE planning! Thankyou for a great video will be implementing many of these ideas!
You're so welcome! Happy it helped. Thanks for watching!
I really love how you do your long term planning!
Thanks! It really frees me from my Type A personality. :)
I really enjoyed this video, not only because I love planners and planning in my Plum Paper Planner, but also to be inspired by your goals and activities! You've given me some great ideas for next year. I so want to infuse our days with more enchantment.
I feel the same way about wanting to intentionally infuse enchantment into our days. Thanks for watching!
I love the idea of mapping out the lessons. I have been working to create my own planner this year. I am definitely going to make a section like that. Thank you for sharing.
Happy it helped! I love watching everyone's planning videos - I always pick up new ideas as well.

Right? My planner self has always loved their neatness, but I could never figure out a good use for them. I had tried habit tracking in the past, but it never lasted the course.
Project Happy Home exactly. It’s hard to be creative with some of these pages. But you found a great way to do it.
Genius! Absolutely genius.... Way to think outside the “planner”. Definitely implementing these ideas in my bujo....⭐️⭐️⭐️
Aw, thanks! I think it’ll assuage the type-A-ness without tying us down to dates in a stress-inducing way. I’m using a blank bujo for our record-keeping. One for each child.

I love your “mail Mondays” idea. Will be using that for my first grader. Thank you for sharing.

I get so many great ideas from other mamas - happy this helped!
I'm tracking our lessons in my checklist area so we can keep an eye on our progress! Thanks for this idea!!!
Yay! Glad it helped.
I love how used the checklist pages for your long-term planning. I struggled with how to use those, this is perfect! Great ideas, as usual! All about that coffee shop school!
Thanks! I love coffee shop schooling! Though we probably eat way too many cheese danishes. :)

Neat! She has beautiful organization.
I like your style but this video is dark and hard to see details, any plans to update this subject?
We do planner palooza every summer. Sorry about the lighting! My new camera does a better job.
Love the long term planning :) what a great way to keep track without stressing about the days! 😁
