- Ernie Thacker and Route 23 - It Takes One To Know One
Lyrics
Little girl you stand out in the crowd
You’re laughing and talking much too loud
But I see a little tear peaking through
It takes one to know one and I know you
It takes one to know one and I know you
The little tear through your smiles I see through
You’ve been hurt and your frightened you’re so blue
It takes one to know one and I know you
Little girl please take hold of my hand
Just go right on and cry I’ll understand
Pay no mind if start crying too
It takes one to know one and I know you
This "is" .. tha sh** ...right here !!!
Most underrated voice to ever sing a bluegrass tune. Still miss you Ernie. Might I say the Rt. 23 band was extremely underrated as well!!!
So true
They were great
Loved his singing and loved my cousin
This is the original lineup of Ernie Thacker and Route 23
Amazing! What a priceless snapshot in music history!

I know it was a long time ago but do you remember as young children growing up together... Me and my uncle Keith Miller?

@@crumbocrumbo887 I definitely remember Keith. What is your name?
Man, Ernie had one of the greatest voices in Bluegrass/Country.
Yes he did!
I first saw Ernie at the paramount in ashland ky, it was a benefit for Ray Goins or his wife. Ernie was one of the first to play and my wife and I were blown away. He is definitely missed in the bluegrass community.
Ernie Thacker was outstanding!! One of my favorites of my all time favorites.
Awesome
I sure miss that guy. He had raw talent at a young age.
Love having them staying at my house 🏠in 1998 good time
Cool!
R. I. P. Ernie
Gone too soon. The real deal. Awesome...
He is my favorite blue grass band him and Matthew
Ernie could have been a contender beyond bluegrass.
Great...so many memories.....
Awesome cousin.
Thank ya :)
Love this version of this song, I like it better than Jimmy Martin’s
Yes, this is not the Stanley Tradition, though Ernie Thacker did used to be a Clinch Mountain Boy.
We got that fixed. Thanks for bringing that to our attention!
Kmew Ernie and family before his days with Ralph and only seen him perform once. Wish we'd stayed in touch as children. My uncle did though.
