Thank you so much for showing me how to freeze my meat ! I am 63 years old and never knew how to do this. I was never taught anything about food preparation or cooking. Thank you Ms Brenda for teaching me so much about food ! You have saved me in more ways than you can imagine ❤. God is good isn’t He !
15:40/9-17 I totally agree with you, Cheryl! I just saw this video and, like you, I never knew this; and I turned 70 in March!!! My Mama and her mother...my Granny, were excellent cooks, God rest their sweet souls. I use to help them snap green beans , shell crowder peas & butterbeans, shuck corn, etc.... I just never stuck around to watch the rest! I'd show back up when it was suppertime!😂😅
Good morning Ms Brenda. Thanks for your tips on pricing your meat and how you freeze your meat. That’s a great tip for us. You are an amazing positive person and you bring so much joy to others. You are such a blessing. Love you sweet lady.❤
Mrs Brenda, I do most of my shopping at Dollar General. The butter is $4.00, the bacon is $6.00, the eggs are a little over three dollars. The Edys icream is $4.00. That was a great price on that pork! I enjoy watching you so much. Your videos are so calming in these hectic times. Love ya girl.
My goodness Cooking with Brenda Gantt here in Indiana and twin pack of butter that's 8 sticks is like $8.00 and a dozen eggs is like $2.00 something. Must be where you live those prices are ridiculous yeah we all gotta cut corners all the time.
Great ideas, Brenda. We have to use our noggins when things get hard, that's for sure. Lots of prayers, too. God knows what's going on,and when we stay in touch with Him and those that believe we are so much better off. We'll be fine!!
Miss Brenda I cut my pork chops thick then butterfly half way and fill with granny Smith apples, sugar and cinnamon. Place in greased crock pot, cover chops with water and cook on high three to four hours.
Thank you, Brenda, for that ray of sunshine! I grind up pork, stir fry it with garlic & onion & eat it in a lettuce wrap with soy sauce or sweet chili sauce. Have a blessed day 🌈💚🙏💚🌈
I'm 63 years old. Commercial fish most of my life. Have always frozen my shrimp, prawns, halibut, salmon, and cod in clean plastic containers filled with water. A year later, I defrost a tub, and it's as fresh as the day I caught it. Same as I do with meat if I'm out of vacuum seal bags.
I’m from Minnesota and my family does the same with walleye after it’s been filleted they wash it good, then put the fillets in a plastic bag and fill with water just enough to cover the fillets then zip lock it and put in freezer. When it comes time to eat them, thaw, fry or broil, they taste as fresh as the day you caught them!!!!
Your chops are 57 cents each. What a great & yummy deal. My mom froze all the fish we caught at the lake in well water. Lasted a year with no freezer burn. Never thought to do the same with other meats. Thanks for sharing & inspiring. ❤
I've lived my whole life doing just as you have shown. It has saved me so much money over the years. Many are so used to convenience, and don't understand the old ways. I'm glad you make videos to help them. God bless you for all your effort and the love you give so freely ❤
My husband always told me, wear your hair , however you like it, cuz He loves me , no matter!! And he said he wears his how he likes it!! I miss him!! He passed away last year , after 52 years and six months of BLESSED MARRIAGE ❤🙏🏼 I personally feel the same for you Ms Brenda. Looking forward to visiting you !!! I love cooking, and watching you COOK 🧑🏽🍳 God’s blessings ✝️🙏🏼💜
Im 79 yrs young, and years before they came up with storage bags, freezer bags etc, my mother froze all her meat and fish (besides ground beef) this way in solid blocks of ice. Here in Oregon the salmon were plentiful and my dad kept us stocked in fresh caught salmon which froze up beautifully. We NEVER had a problem with freezer burn!❤
I just bought a pork too. We cut the sides and ends off then cut it in cubes and made a batch of chop suey. Then cut the rest up into chops. We've put cream of mushroom soup and milk over the chops and baked it. Or had an egg wash and rolled the chop in panto and fry it in oil. We've cut a chunk like a roast. Cut almost in half. Then stuff it and tie it closed with string and bake it. Brenda, love ya and may God Bless
Thank you for the freezing tip Mrs Brenda! I made fried pork bites the other day with the buttermilk like you showed us with chicken and steak and they were so good My husband loved them.
I've always really liked pork. A pork butt cooked real tender is so good. Right after you cook it I like it just off the bone. With what's left I really like it for pulled pork. There's nothing like it! Thank you Miss Brenda. I love your spirit!
Thank you Mrs. Brenda for the freezing meat tip! I have never heard that before but it makes perfect since! I like to take a big piece of pork loin and put it in the crockpot with potatoes, carrots, and onions. I season the pork loin with salt, pepper, garlic powder, oregano and lipton onion soup mix. I let it slow cook and my family loves it!
Good morning Brenda Gantt ☀️ from sunny but chilly Crockett Texas.. Good to see you, hope you have a blessed day ❣️ And I hope everyone here also has a blessed day ❣️🙏🕊️✝️👑🎺☝️☁️ Jesus is coming soon ❣️ Hallelujah 🙌 MARANATHA ❣️ PS.. In a crockpot pork chops with taters, mushrooms, eggplant chunks, cream of mushroom soup and onions and garlic, yummy 😋
Pork loin is one of the best buys in the grocery store. I love to grill mine whole. Some of the best pork ever!!! Season as desired. Seat all around four 2-3 minutes. Take off direct heat and just let it cook. So good!!
It's yummy cooked in your crockpot with your favorite barbecue sauce recipe...when done just use a fork to make pulled pork for sandwiches. It also freezes well, I use small containers, just enough for 2 sandwiches.
Thank you for this video! I didn’t know about adding the water to the bag! My parents always bought large pieces of meat too and divided it, wrapped it in plastic wrap, then in freezer paper and froze it, we had a big chest freezer for bulk food; so glad you’re teaching these young people and reminding the more mature people how to freeze and save money!!! Thank you, love your videos ❤️❤️
One of my all time favorite pork dishes is Pork Dumplings. Just two of those pork chops boiled down for a long time in a big pot of water makes a perfect broth. I sometimes thicken the both with a basic roux but the dumplings do some of that on their own. Just salt an pepper and this makes my all time favorite pot of dumplings.
Yes, Ms Brenda, we agree with your encasing the meat in water to prevent freezer burn. However, we've found it more economical to use freezer-style bags rather than the thinner types, b/c we wash our bags out and reuse them multiple times. The thinner ones will puncture too easily (esp when frozen) and they become single use bags. We're in our 80s and still garden & freeze & can for the rest of the year, just like we learned to do when growing up.
My husband is a meat cutter so we buy like that, it is a big saving that way. I'm going to show him your freezing technique video, this will save on time not having to wrap. Thank you Brenda for all of your content video's and lives. You are just a pleasure to watch and learn from!!! Wishing you a beautifully blessed day. ❤
Thank you so much for all that you do. I totally get what you are saying about the grocery store prices! I'm doing all I can to feed my family. Every little bit is stretched out as far as I can. You are a sweet blessing to us all. I pray the Lord blesses you always.
Thank you Brenda for sharing your tips on freezing all kinds of meats and vegetables. You were not being " negative", you were telling the " stomp-down " truth!!! You used to get 4 bags of groceries for the price that we pay now for what looks like a " half-a- bag!!! It's really tough going now, and we might should start planting and growing our own food, but that might be a problem too, because some people are not going to try, they'll just try to hurt someone else and take what they have worked and grown and harvested. We got to keep trusting and believing the Lord Jesus to help us be a change and help us to make a change, Amen?! , Amen.😮❤
I bought a pork loin, the sale was buy one get another half off. It was a great deal. I cut up chops, roast, and cubed some. But thank you for the freezer tip in water. Bless you.
Thank you Brenda for sharing the water trick. I will try that. I agree with looking at the price per pound, and dividing it up for multiple meals. I enjoy your tips!
Hi Brenda, I buy pork loin all the time. Put in the crock pot and poor cream of mushroom soup over the top and cook on low for 8 hrs. Then serve over rice or egg noodles and a veggie. Also butterfly the chop and stuff it with apple pie filling and put in crockpot and cook for 8 hrs on low and serve with mashed potatoes and veggies
I too look for deals when butter is on sale I buy extra and freeze it. I wait for store flyers and buy extra Love ur show. I use pork to sometimes make pulled pork bbq sandwiches.
Brenda I so agree with you. We buy these, and the grocer cuts them free, also we have them cut thinner, and they run them through a machine, and make pork cutlets, also we have had them grind it, and We made sausage by adding salt, pepper, and sage, also red pepper, there is so much you can make from this, also bake some, hope this helps someone this is a good piece of meat for lots of ways. Enjoy your channel. Stella
Good morning Ms Brenda!! Thanks for telling us how to freeze meat in regular storage bags. I never knew that. I had to go online to see how much a pound the uncut boneless pork loin is at my grocery store. It’s $2.34 a pound. Still a lot cheaper than already cut up pork chops. Or beef steak. Although I recently watched your video where you made steak and an omlet for breakfast. I did that a couple times this week. Yesterday I’d ordered mushrooms that I didn’t have the first time. It was delicious with peppers, green onions, mushrooms and sharp cheddar. Thank you so much!! Have a good day.🥰❤️
Wow I sure never thought about putting water in the meat like that but I know that will work, thank you so much. I love learning things like that. God bless!❤
Hey there Ms. Brenda! Blessings and salutations! I've used those big pork loin as roast stuffed with garlic, and seasonings. Seared in cast iron skillet and baked off in oven. Cut into chops and stuffed with seafood dressing as well as cut up and made into stoop (soup/stew). Lastly, chops smothered down with onion gravy! I fed a family of 4. A good while on it. Best investment, ever!😊
Thank you for the advice today! This was a great, positive lesson! The store that I go to has flash sales on various items. If I see something I like, I figure it’s unit price. If it is about 75% off regular price, I usually buy it. Happy Shopping! 🛒
Anything you can use beef or chicken for, you can use pork. It is just as versatile. I am definitely going to try your freezer method though. And I am one of those elderly people who don't get enough nutrition, so thank you for your dinner suggestions. Have a blessed day🙏😇
Just found your channel! Thx for the freezing tip! If you have an Aldi near you, the prices for staple items are so much cheaper than the big box grocery stores. Blessings to you…look forward to watching more of your videos.
Thank you for your tips on freezing meats bc I always hate to pay extra for those freezer bags. I cut mine into chunks about 2 inches each piece and I put them in a baggie. I pour some bottled teriyaki sauce and the amount depends on your amount of chunks. Pour some type of wine and I just buy a cheap red wine maybe about 1-2 cups, 1-2 tablespoons of garlic powder, a can of pineapple chunks in own juices and not drained, (you can also add some grated fresh ginger, about 1/2 cup of brown sugar). I just eyeball the amount ingredients unless noted). Let it marinate in baggie over night. Remove the meat from the marinade and slide 5-6 pieces on a skewer with an occasional chunk of the pineapple that is in the marinade. (If you are using the wooden skewers make sure you soak them in water for 10-15 minutes before applying meat) otherwise you can use the metal skewers if you have some. I use the shorter wooden skewers. Cook them on your grill of choice until the pork reaches 145-150 degrees or until meat is no longer pink inside over medium/high heat. I also leave a small space between each piece of meat that is on the skewers. Note: You can also use chicken or even vegetables instead of pork. I have used red and green bell peppers with the meat for added flavor. Serve with white or fried rice.
Hi Brenda, You can also cut in bigger pieces for a pork loin roast. It is good with sauerkraut and mashed potatoes. Thanks for sharing. We are in a drought in Ohio and our grass is brown. Linda from Ohio
Brenda what good shopping advice just like your hints in cook books. By the way I have now received all three of your cookbooks ,my goodness they are super. I'm so thankful they had a reprint on 1 and 2 I'll cherish forever I've made 4 or 5 things. You kept saying you can do it it's easy well I did the ck and the DUMPLINS I did it im so proud.thank you so much. Today cutting up the pork loin makes me want to leave a hunk to roast in oven with cornbread dressing. Yum. Love you look forward to you daily.
Love you miss brenda your hair looks beautiful thank you so very much for sharing your wisdom I love how you teach others I love when you talk about our heavenly father and his loving son Jesus 😊❤
Good morning! I have finally received your first book, I love them all. I love that you are my sister in Christ, God has Blessed this wonderful ministry. ❤️
I cook our pork loin chops in the little basket air fryer to prevent heating up the house. I sprinkle some sea salt, pepper, and a little Old Bay seasoning over them on both sides. I cook about 4 minutes & flip. Then another 3-4 minutes, depending on how thick. You want them slightly browned and still moist. My husband says you couldn’t get a better-tasting piece of pork ANYWHERE! I don’t know about that, but it’s super good! I have to watch salt intake, so I don’t put much on mine and not much Old Bay, but man, that stuff sure makes it good! I know you don’t use an air fryer, but I have a little basket style. My husband has the kind with shelves in his camper. I even make our steaks in them now, except ribeye. I got them so tough I couldn’t eat it. But sirloin, tbones, & filet mignon turn out great. I fried potatoes, onions, and ham in a little pan in mine tonight. I’m about ready to get back to my oven though, if it would just cool down. I get pork loin at Sam’s club for about $1.69 usually. So I think you got a great deal!
Thank you so much for showing me how to freeze my meat ! I am 63 years old and never knew how to do this. I was never taught anything about food preparation or cooking. This works extremely well especially with fish! It keeps a longer time as well.

Note: You can also use chicken or even vegetables instead of pork. I have used red and green bell peppers with the meat for added flavor. Serve with white or fried rice.
Hello Miss Brenda, I love watching your videos
You are so right about the prices I paid over $5 for 2 😮
Hi Brenda, You can also cut in bigger pieces for a pork loin roast. It is good with sauerkraut and mashed potatoes. Thanks for sharing. We are in a drought in Ohio and our grass is brown. Linda from Ohio
