You know you captured a tremendous amount of admiration with this one & perhaps there just may be a chance that people's opinions of us ( Truck Drivers) might change. First off Prayers for whom ever took the Life Flight out , along with a huge applause for those volunteers that work the fly over portions of America that if not for them more people would encounter an untimely demise in out of the way areas. Lastly , the pulling over in a SAFE place to ease up the congestion. Your definitely utilizing the Drive For Five Method there as most people can't even begin to realize that by doing this one act . This one act reduced the huge amount of risk as those behind you would of eventually tried to pass. It goes to show that even the smallest decisions Saves Life's & only cost you , what ? Maybe 2 minutes . Well Done Driver !
I was a volunteer EMS for 19 years. The greatest satisfaction was when we would receive a note or thank you card from a family member, for taking their love one to the hospital. Better than getting paid!!! I'm 68 years old, and now I may need the volunteer EMS!! Glad they are still on the job!!
Yes sir! Most folks have no idea that over 80% of fire and EMS is volunteer. I drove ambulances for several years before joining the fire service. Moved up to Captain, Fire Crew brush monkey, helitack jumping from Hueys, crew boss. Had an HQ assignment for just under 2 years. Loved every minute of it, but I never signed up for the money. My community was the reason. Walked that thin line between full time and volunteer (reserve). I appreciate the IAFF for having my back, there was pressure in my agency to move me over, but I made that hard choice of supporting my little girls. I miss those days.
My husbands heart condition became alot worse a year ago this last july i took care of him at home until he passed october 21 and i had to call our volunteer medics several times and they came quickly so professional and kind oh what a blessing they were to us
I just love the sound of orwell going up and down shifting. And of corse, the fact, that he is an very old truck, but still working. Thanks for the ride, god bless
Interesting situation with the emergency vehicle shutting down the road for the helicopter to land. That was a very cool move pulling over to let all the traffic go by you and them paying it forward with there toot of there horns.
Gotta' have a lot of admiration for those people who put themselves in danger to rescue people doing stupid stuff. On the other hand, watching that emergency pickup truck turn around was hilarious. Give me 40 acres... Class act pulling over to let all that traffic by. Nice to see some appreciated what you did with a little toot as they went by.
I own a similar vehicle. (Mine is a crew-cab long chassis F-350 4WD). It does take 40 acres. I was a schoolbus driver back in the day; a schoolbus can turn much tighter.
@@Azlehria My Toyota 4WD had U-joints, and it could do easy 3-points. But some of these CV-joints have barely any flex at all. Particularly when a CV-joint is made to handle a 7-liter engine in a 1-ton pickup frame, the huge outer ball binds with only a slight steering angle. It is quite annoying, one always must plan ahead for maneuvering..
I used to hate running the hills in Pennsylvania, especially going through the Poconos. I don't think there's a flat spot in the whole state and after crawling up the side of one hill, and then building up some speed on the downside in order make it up the next one, there'd be a cop with a radar hiding at bottom waiting to nail you!
Sounds to me like maybe you need some Dyno time for Orwell and an ole school mechanic to set the torque curve up a bit. Those 3406 kitties can be a torque monster if set right..
Right on. The mark of a professional. Damn few like that nowadays. Used to be the standard and a lot of pride as a profession. Now they are usually just "steering wheel holders".
Don’t feel like the Lone Ranger Steve, I was up there last month, same thing, incorrect address. I drive a conventional so I had a harder time finding a turn around I could use, midday.
Lot of pro driveing well done drivers like you reflect well on the industry enjoy you videos brings back a lot of cab over memories to this old timer thank you
Back in 2000 my brother got air lifted out off of a mountain pass after him and his friends got smacked head on by a distracted mother in her expedition and he was in a Pontiac Bonneville. His friends walked away, but he didn't, thankfully he is able to walk albeit with a rod. She hit my brother so hard that is dropped the engine block out and sent the head block into the ditch.
Nice video love the ride along, I myself hate driving 22 between Cadiz and Cambridge, to many hills and to many dumb drivers. One thing would like to mention, I notice you took your load to Beaver Valley generating Station, be very carefully videoing around there, its a nuclear power station, and security can be dicks.

Cool ass move by pulling over and letting ppl go! Old school at is best! Hell I still clear 18 wheelers over by hitting my lights, and less than have will thank me but that's cool because my grandfather said treat the ppl the way you want to be treated
They are gonna spend millions on infrastructure but not a dime on these state secondary roads built to handle 1930's traffic,/ They need to be widened for Amish , bike s , climbing lanes etc.
Does your engine have blow by after running for about 6 hours or so, I know you put new liners in it. Just asking cause I have a 3406c mechanical, it has some blow by.
People treat truckers like shit a lot of the time, but a little courtesy pulling off the road like that goes a long way. I can't tell ya how many mountain climbs I have driven where trucks pass right by massive slow vehicle turnouts at like 15mph. It's incredibly frustrating lol
I play ATS and I was trying to figure out soley on my limited experience of trucks what kind of engine was in your truck. The idling sounded like it was an N14, but once you got going and i heard the "HHMMMMmmm" when you lift off the accelerator i knew it was a CAT 3406B. Beautiful sound
I'm friends with the fire chief if you'd like his video of the helicopter take off as well as commentary. My Facebook is the same name but with my FB Jail mugshot
He said on the previous video that some offroaders crashed about a mile off the highway and that they needed the highway to land the medivac helicopter.
Your truck is a beast to pull that hill that good. Safe travels.
Good camera angles on this video Steve. Love listening to Orwell.

a beautiful sounding truck

That ol Cabover sounds great! Need more Drivers like you out there too!

Challenging roads. Thanks for all the great filming and editing. It was a good watch.

Hi Steve I've been watching the railroad channel and I like because I love the old trains
FSC speed shop has grown into FSC speed shop, FSC trucking, FSC truck shop, FSC railroad. Looking forward to the next batch of you tube channels like, FSC boating, FSC motorcycles, FSC Karen spotting, FSC monday, FSC tuesday, FSC wednesday, etc.
FSC Karen Spotting. Now that's just plain funny...
Excellent Camera & Audio work 💘 LOVED THIS
That traffic went all the way to Exit 100 of the GSP 😉
Awesome dude. Great job!!
Are you down by Atlanta ever? Would love to visit with you. A lady is wanting to buy a truck but not necessarily to drive for others.
i remember 168 from haling 40 inch pipe down in there, it is such a fun road.
Very considerate of you.. Even though most the 4 wheelers arent very considerate a lot of times.. Hopefully this will show them.
What up FSC Trucking
Orwell makes good power...maybe a tad more than 400?
Yep maybe 450
15:51 this driver in the red truck is pulling away like it's hauling 40,000 pounds. Lol
He is riding on his starter engine.
Glad the turbo was working for the hill climbs. Some of those narrow spots would have been challenging if two Wide Loads met ... 😖
Safe travels 👍🏼
Drivers forget the days trucks didn't have turbos and you could almost walk faster.
I hauled coal out of the Kentucky May tipple in Jackson Kentucky with a f model Mack. Had a 237 motor with a 5 speed. Called it the dragonfly
Old school CB or Ham radio ?
