  • Salvaged some broken UPS but struggled to find info on what battery types and cabling was inside. This is the solution I came up with. 12v 7Ah batteries from Bunnings With a jumper cable to put them in series. The batteries seem to be 150mm long, 95mm deep and 65mm wide. I ended up printing some replacement buttons that do the job and super gluing them to the button inside to replace the broken ones.
    Obviously if you have this UPS replace with what batteries were inside and read the EATON documentation in order to choose and install the correct batteries for your unit.
    * Screwdriver note* Asuming a PH2 150-200mm required.

    @LABMATT. Hey mate. The screwdriver I have here and tried is in fact also 10cm long but it's too short to reach the screw so just posting this here to let everyone know you will need more than that. Maybe 150 or 200mm to be sure. All the best.

    I need to buy a long screwdriver. Know what size the head is? 6mm seems to be pretty standard is that too big? Trip to Bunnings but want to get one that is long and fits the screws.

      Hey mate. Its most lightly Phillips-2 (PH2) head, and my screwdriver was 100mm long I believe. You could buy the single Assorted screwdriver for $2 from Bunnings or get the small craftright for $13 with I/N 6060225

      @@Ramrunner73 Thanks for the info, I got no clue what screw driver I used then 🤣I did just hold up my 100mm next to the unit in the server rack and its definitely to short. Iv pinned your comment and added it to the description to make sure the message gets out. Thanks for the feedback 👍

      @@LABMATT. All good I got a VERY expensive $1.45 one from Bunnings to do the job. Probably should have bought a magnetic one though, another tip. I've replaced the batteries and it works as expected (this is the 2000 model with the fan), but the minute I plugged it in the fan came on (unit is switched off). From the reading I'm doing it seems it does that when charging batteries but i'ts been on for a good chunk of the day and won't stop. The fan is LOUD and very distracting. I have NOT had the chance to hook up a PC with the Eaton software yet to have a look but has anyone else had that experience?

      @@Ramrunner73 Sounds like your gonna be in debt now at the cost of that screwdriver. I haven't tried any software yet but I saw some stuff of Linux that could read and host monitoring software. Idk if it works yet. Id like to have stuff safe shutdown automatically. My two units also have fans that are very very loud, but they also only run when charging or maybe while running, cant remember.
