My wife and I just had our first baby in mid-July, right after finishing residency and getting ready to transition to attending life (hospitalist), as well as moving to a new home. Do they give paternity leaves during residency?

Depends on your program but you should be able to get some. Maybe a research elective turned into paternity leave - again depends on your program
