Pulled into a truckstop, sat down looked at the tv, 2nd plane hit, called dispatch and hauled ass home. State police just asked us to keep it under 90. It's relaxing watching your videos on maintenance. I appreciate your time spent showing and explaining why. For what it's worth. Good evening.
I live in New Jersey. My mom grew up in a farm in Iowa. That's why I watch. I love the old farming ways. That being said. Ben a concrete cutter since July of 1999. I worked at the WTC site off and on from 7 months after the attacks. I've done anything from core drilling for tiebacks to wire sawing slurry wall. Worked in the new WTC #7 the oculus . And resuntly the new preforming arts building. Plus many places under ground. I'll never forget. And I'll never forgive. Till the day I die.🍻🇺🇸
I was in 8th grade, home sick, dad called the house and said to turn the tv on. Much has changed since then. Those old combines are good looking machines.
On 9-11 at that time I was evening custodian and the school district where I work at yet today. I woke up and turned on the TV and they had the one trade center already smoke coming out of it and it they was the discussing what happened and then the other plane hit. At work everything pretty much continued on no days off from 9-11. Hopefully before too long you can get a shop set up at your place up big enough so you can pull in your combined inside the shop. Thanks Michael
I was at work when the word came out...turned on my radio at my desk and details were trickling in. The plane that crashed in Shanksville, Pa. was in range of Cleveland air traffic controllers at some point. Being about 70 miles Southwest of Cleveland in Ashland Co. sent a chill up my back. Not ashamed to admit, as a 50 yr. old, it was hard not to get emotional watching the news with my wife and thinking about all the families affected. Combines can be a problematic asset...going from a trusted performer to a major money pit in a few minutes. Pre-harvest service and inspection is time well spent. Looks like you take a lot of pride in keeping your machines performing well.
And we couldn't believe that our own gooberment attacked its own people just so Bush and the rest of the establishment could rob Sadam Hussain cause havoc through the middle east and take one of the most important right to us citizens of the United States away and that's our privacy!
I was 20 years old hauling onsite in a gravel pit to a crusher, the loader operator said on the cb "a plane just hit the WTC" I keyed up and asked "What's the World Trade Center?"
Did White and Oliver make rice models? I'm in Louisiana and remember a farmer who was a friend of the family that used a combine just like that in rice. IIRC he also had an Oliver combine, which was his older combine
Schmidt machine is just 15 minutes from my house. They have a online parts catalog for your white combine still and the book is dated 2022. I think they do a discount when our fair is on but today was the last day, but i am not 100% sure on the discount when our fair is on because they have had a booth at the fair for years and years. But they are not a Massey dealer any more so there just a machine shop that makes parts for combines and head and so on, so they are still around.
Good Stuff - Thanks for sharing! If you have a lot of cables to lube, I recommend trying a thing called a "cable luber" - they cost about $10-15. It clamps on at the point where the cable goes into the sleeve and seals that connection, then it has a little hole that is sized for the straw on your lube can, which allows you to use the pressure in the can to force the lube all the way down the cable length. I had two sticky choke cables on a quad that I thought I would have to replace ($75.00 each) but I bought a can of good quality cable lube and the cable luber device and was able to free both of them up in less than an hour. That was 4 years ago and they still work great!
As for the video, you did fine. You covered what you wanted to do, and that's what matters. I kept up with you, lol. Many times, I wish I could be there to help you. You do very well most of the time by your self. Glad you have friends and family willing to step in every so often. Keep up the great work and I will see you in the next one.
The old 525 still looks as majestic as always. Have always liked 525s for whichever reason, even though I've never ran one and there never were any (that I've seen) around Arkansas. Then again I just kinda like the baby combines. Deere 3300, Gleaner Es, Ks and K2s, IH 615s, and the 525s.
For freeing up the stuck cable, I've found using a penetrating oil or spray or anything else you would normally use to break rusted nuts and bolts loose works a little better, last time i messed with one i shot it full of pb blaster and that worked
Hey Ethan,,,thanks for remembering 911. Lots of folks acting like it never happened. That said,,working on the combine has gotta give ya the itch for harvest. By the way,,yer knowledge base is always amazing.
Yeah we had a 6620 turbo a while back. I was around 12 maybe when we got the 9500. I seem to remember dad fixing it or complaining about how annoying it was. But not gonna lie I’ve always wanted an 8820 titan 2. Those are just pretty badass combines lol.
I know Massey's had same setup with the engine by the cab. I actually think working on 20 series deeres aint bad, i just bought a 6620 Sidehill Titan2 a couple months ago and it's actually fairly easy to work on just gotta learn the quirks.
Yes 9 !1 Was Horrible This Country needs Prayers With the Moron And Liar As A President I Hope We get Someone With Common Since This Is A Sad Month 2 years ago My Dad Died From Cancer

They have a tough look to them.

It’s a necessity when equipment gets this old.

No one wll forget where they were on that day. Big Red is looking good. Thanks for the update Ethan. Take care. Fred.
Moth balls use math balls to keep them mice out of that cab
Massey made a lot of combines with the engine up by the cab. We had several 300 Massey's years ago. Think they started building them in the mid 60's
Generous of you to share your knowledge with us, thanks.
I"m with you on the allergy"s . In SE Minnesota We would kill for your Green . So Dry HERE.
I remember when you got that combine but I forgot what happened to it I remember you and your Dad straightening the grain tank very nice machine

I was a freshman in college. And even at my age we didn't have TVs in every classroom!
Great stuff Ethan even those old combines there is a ton of things going on at one time😊😊😊😊😊

Grew up with a JD 4420 and agree 100%. They are solid machines overall, but fixing darn near anything is a chore.
Good machines. So many dumb design choices.
Looks like the 8700 ready for another season Be careful Ethan.

Don’t forget about Massey Ferguson. Some would say the 850-860 series machines were the best ever built in the engine to side walker machine platform.

Schmidt Machine still has their metal business, their dealership has closed. I live 30 mins south of them.
Massey Ferguson debuted the 410/510 in 1964 and it had that layout
Minneapolis Moline had combines with the engine next to the operator seat in the 50s

Queen Elizabeth broke centuries of royal protocol and had the Star Spangled Banner played by the Buckingham Palace band in solidarity for America.

They were good combined as long as you didn’t have to lay a wrench on them.

You changed the hydraulic filter yet?
@@Oliver66FarmBoy Yeah I didn't think it was too bad myself.
Get a cooling rack for cookies or whatever and put in your bucket funnel it will hold your filters up off the bottom so they drain
I am curious what you figure out on the preheater. I can’t make the one work on my 105
Any plans on running the 525 again? Like have it on wheat and the other 2 on corn and beans like they r now?
Ethan came acrossd a 9720 with both heads for 18500 in really nice shape if ur interested wisconsin
I was in my second year of Pre K when 9/11 happened. I was 4 years old.
Need go go gadget arms Farm Boy!!
I was running casing on an oil well at the okc Airport, they shut the rig down and sent us home for the day
Airport seems like a strange place for an oil well.
@@Oliver66FarmBoy Okc airport has wells all over it. They aren't near runways or close to hangers.
I was in the 10 th grade we had the same tv we watched it all

Massey had one too
I was in 9th grade was at vo tech in auto body when the planes crashed we had to stay in the class room we wasn't even aloud in the shop
Was a heck of a day for someone to young to understand exactly what was happening
I was at college everyone went into the student center in time to see the second plane hit
Definitely a day that burns into your brain.
I was in my 20s
