The top can be seen sitting on it right around 12:36 into the video, the coal sits on top of the expanded metal. The open tray and heat works like a convection oven. The client who ordered this did say that if he had it to do over again he never would have made it as high. I may be getting it back into the shop this spring to make some changes.
That looks like a rather large version of my grandfather's old charcoal grill that he built about 40 years ago. The thing took like 2 super size bags of charcoal, and they had a plate that served as a griddle as well.
Jeff, I made a pinoy microwave similar to your build. But I tricked my out quite a bit. Made from 10 gauge sheet metal, oven doors and lights and convection fans. Your build gave me the incentive. Thanks. UA-cam search Rod J for details on my custom build in San Francisco.
lol...make it iced coffee then ;-) Metal is the only best conductor for heat and cold. I'm surprised people haven't thought of making freezers out of metal.
A cajun microwave the box is made of wood and lined with thin aluminum or stainless
Wow what's the cost of a cajun microwave?
You're telling them too many welding Secrets bro WTF lol what happened to trial and error let them figure it out haha good video keep it up😂👍👍👍👍
What about the top or lid?

I have some free time tomorrow, how small are the pieces your looking to weld? I can shoot a short video on some fit up and clamping for you.

I didn't think a cajun microwave could be so huge. Pretty cool stuff. Hi Dana :-)
very impressive work Jeff, I had never heard of the Cajun microwave until today and I watched your vid, and that is very nice work. enjoyed the video.
Hi Jeff, what sheet material did you use. Stainless or normal steel? Also what thickness. Great job BTW.
Rod J Material was supplied by the client, it was mild steel that was about 3/16" thick. Thanks for the view! :)
Actually, I've recently seen freezers that have metal interiors, due to their conductivity.
@ 6:05 That's a pretty crazy shot. It looks like you're actually inside of the full box even though you're not.
That was a very hot project, so much heat build up... I thought I was going to cook at one point ;)
