the lioness was afraid that her only child would be disabled from playing with the big lion cubs.

Cubbies are so tiny and vulnerable. Older siblings will definitely injure a cubbie. Lioness are very good moms. Animals sense dangerous situations. That looked more like a biting situation around the neck to me. Mom arrived just in time ❤
