  • I converted an older #HP #DL380 Gen8 (aka a StoreOnce 2900) from using a hard #RAID controller to an HBA for software RAID. The conversion is simple, but the video is long af because I spend a lot of time discussing the "why" more than the "how".

    I changed my internal drives to an hba but now i no longer have drive indicator lights. Any idea how to fix this?

      Get a security frontbezel and pretend they're on behind it.

    Some infos. If you are using ZFS, youll be fine with 8gb of ram as long as you DO NOT enable DEDUP. If you plan to Enable it, youll need a couple of high quality ssds for metadata and tons of ram, around 1gb ram/1tb of storage. Plan accordingly.
