What I love about Greg's comedy or even just his general manner, is that he's always on the edge of bursting out laughing, and he cannot be serious at any point, unless he's playing a character where him being serious is where the humour lies, such as Taskmaster and Mr Gilbert.
If I was younger! Honestly, the story about visiting his mom, the wash, the toilet, the Pollock reference, and the microphone. I laugh has much as I did the first watch to the several dozen. It was Oscar worthy
“And then Greg Davies leapt off his horse and shouted 'That's how it's done, losers', and all the guys and girls watching him applauded and knelt down before him and they lay down before him and sort of curled up into balls before him and Greg picked them up and rolled them at a barn and roared at them.”
I live close to his home area, and wrote to him about 5 years ago to ask him to write his autobiography based on his funny childhood anecdotes. Fingers crossed ……
I love his straightforward honesty about his decision to go into teaching despite really wanting to work in comedy. It makes the story of his segue into comedy to all the more interesting. Stories that aren’t a straight line are always better.
I watched this a few months ago and a name he said stuck with me “Logan Murray” and that he does a course on stand up. I’m five weeks into that course. My first gig is June first. Thank you.
@@peskycritter79 amazingly! I ended up getting a stand up gig the week before the course ended so I’m now three stand up gigs in. I moved house so not done anymore but I don’t plan on stopping.
The difference between sincere, deep gratitude, admiration and above all else, love, versus being seen to say the right thing or having someone write it for you. It's why most things said by politicians gives an unnerving feeling to most people aware of the constant spin.
Big up Greg, and Alex Horne. And Frank Skinner for helping to get Taskmaster off the ground. One of my favourite things to watch. The chaos of the previously filmed tasks makes the studio time so funny. Edit: The impress the mayor task made me cringe so badly, but Joe Wilkinson just buying some random ice lollies and some lager, to connect with a mayor who everyone just sorta assumed would have a stick up his arse, was hilarious.
i think its also kept him very down to earth throughout his fame. it's very different when someone becomes famous in middle age instead of as a teen or 20 something. he still just seems like a normal dude who is very genuine and doesn't do the phony celebrity act. like i bet if you hung out with him he would act exactly like he does on tv, it's just who he is. and he seems like an actual decent person
Greg just seems like just a nice, funny dude who doesn't take himself too seriously. There's no stories about him being a diva that I know of. You can just tell he's a man that appreciates where he is and is humbled by it.
Not really though is it? Blackmail would be Greg demanding stuff or money in exchange for witholding the stories. What Greg actually is describing here is, well… exploitation.

For those wondering...Greg Davies is tall.... we are talking 7 ft 6" in stockings and just under 8Ft in Cuban heels which he likes to wear to compliment his love of wearing women's lingery and his mother's pants. Ok...he is 6ft 8 inches...which is VERY tall...and yes he is probably still wearing his mother's pants. Gotta love Greg Davies...a mountain of a man and a REALLY funny guy.
You can stand on the shore and watch the lakers go over the curve of the earth. You cant see across the width of Erie, Ontario, or Huron. They are massive. They have tides. Lake Erie and Lake Huron are better for swimming. Absolutely massive beaches. Check out Grand Bend on Lake Huron! I lived on the Hamilton Beach strip until I was 20. (A sand spit between Hamilton Harbour and Lake Ontario divided by 'the canal' with its lift bridge). We fished for smelts in the spring with dip nets. Pickereal, salmon, whitefish, lake bass. There are many many fresh springs on the bottom of Lake Ontario and Hamilton has tapped into those for the best drinking water in southern Ontario. I camped for years on Lake Erie and it had crazy weather changes because it is so shallow. We dont care too much about controlling our border - the longest uncontrolled border in the world. In Ontario we include Lake St Claire and Lake Simcoe as part of the Great Lakes.
To Greg with love. Taskmaster saved me. Here in the US we are bombarded with political turds on a daily basis. But now, no news, no more. Only Task master day and night. Thank you ?
I have a few questions. What's the point of this post? Is it in the hopes Greg himself might see it? Is that why are you using the word "you're" in that sentence? 1. he didn't personally upload this. 2. He probably won't see your or any of these comments at all 3. If he does see this are you someone he knows personally? Because if not I highly doubt the outcome will be him coming to some epiphany and saying to himself "You know what I think I'll restructure my entire life and give up my career because John here doesn't think I am funny." Or is the point to come here knowing that because this video is dedicated to one certain comnedian that there are probably fans of that comedian and your purpose was to stir things up knowing that people would probably disagree with you and start arguments. Or is it just to complain to complain. Because we get it everyone's entitled to their opinion no one's saying you're not. It's just in order to share your opinion you'd have to have seen the video thought ugh I don't like him at all clicked on it and then taken the time to write out your comment just so everyone would know that you are of the opinion that you don't find Greg Davies funny. You could have scrolled on by but instead you decide to click on it and comment thereby boosting it in the algorithm. Just ignoring it would have been a more effective message that it's not content you or other people want to see. Besides as you can see most people either don't care about your opinion or disagree with it because again they clicked on this to specifically watch something they might enjoy. Just curious as to the reasoning here
@@robertmclellan1605 I don't think I did question the use of "you're" as incorrect I do realize it is grammatically appropriate as it's the contraction of you and are. I put it in quotes because to me his use of the word you're implies that the celebrity he doesn't think is funny is who he thinks going to be directly reading it. The you're implies that Greg Davies is his intended audience . Now UA-cam being being this big public forum in a way kind of diminishes the fact that he will actually see that one comment out of the millions out there don't you think? Therefore making his use of you're a bit ridiculous as his intended audience would probably never see it. Which you know I've said before but you apparently needed a little more context as to what I meant because apparently the couple sentences before were not enough. As to why I replied please refer back to the part to where I referred to UA-cam as a public forum. Which to give you context for what that means as well since you might need help means the public (i.e. me) can interact if they want to and I did. you Brits use that word "lovely" unlike folks in the states. and i think that Greg Davies is lovely. and funny as fuck. he just utterly tickles me in a way few others do. and... i do just absolutely have to plug task master: utter brilliance. i know it's ALex's baby. but ... i don't know if could ever be what it is without Greg Davies. i only wish i could see a few episodes taped in the studio audience.
